...hate me...
Everything was within the expected - the price we hoped to stay the same but they also bumped it when they made the MBP with retina display.

Pricing will get better in a couple of spec bumps.

I wonder how broad developer support will be with the Touchbar. There still are so many apps I own that don't have any 3D Touch support it leaves me wondering how popular the Touhbar will be. Especially, since the iPhone is a much larger and more popular platform compared to Mac.

Goddammit

Hype totally killed. The touch bar is dumb as fuck. Why not make the actual screen a touch screen.

I still need a laptop for work though, and I'm way too invested in OS X to switch to a Windows machine.

The Razer Blade looks like a much more attractive buy if you don't have an attachment to macOS.

THAT'S my problem, I love macOS, I only use windows for my gaming desktop PC. I just don't like using windows for work related stuff. But without sd card slot and that price...god damn apple.

These prices are ridiculous. Might have to check out the touch bar-less Pro though. I wasn't really paying attention, is it good?

Looks like I still hang on to my Mid-2012 rMBP...it's held up well, but I don't know how long it will last me.

If we compare the smallest Macbook Pro to the largest Macbook Air, the Macbook Pro is smaller!

God damnit. I don't want a 13 inch computer, I want an 11 inch one.

And if I wanted the piece of crap that is the 12 inch Macbook, I wouldn't get a new computer, because it's less powerful than my current, old 11 inch.

God freaking damnit.

I was thinking of replacing my broken MBP with a new one, now I think I'm just gonna repair the old one.

Gotta raise those prices because the Macbook is even more professional and even more hip with Beats wearing DJs and freelance photoshop hipsters.

skipped the presentation, ... how much for the 15" and what are the dimensions?

£2349 for 15" base model.

Lmao.

jesus christ ... my retina 13 works perfectly fine, thankfully, but the next one's gonna be bigger - doing far more photoshop and premiere stuff compared to when i chose my current macbook.

Insane For Sony
Best news here is that keyboard is not the same crap they use on 12" MacBook. That keyboard has a satisfying clack to it, but the travel is too short. Since they increased travel here it might actually feel nice to use.

£2349 for 15" base model.

Lmao.

Base 15 is not a derp model though. It has dGPU and generally the higher priced model seems unnecessary unless you really need more internal HDD space. CPU bump on higher priced model is really next to nothing. No question about it though, it's very expensive and I can't justify it with perfectly working 2012 MBPr. Unless I could sell this thing for a lot of money.

Ooooof. That touch thingamabop is a nice idea, I'll readily admit it, but these Laptops are a bit too rich for me. I mean, on top of being outside of my personal pricing range.

Shame. Looks like a nice bit of kit, really. Four USB ports is really appreciated, even though it's only three when on the desk and connected to the power supply. Dislike the lack of a SD card slot though. Oh well.

13"
$1499 for no touchbar
$1799 or $1999 for touchbar

15"
$2399 or $2799 for touchbar

Yikes.

Glad my current 2013 model still has a little life left in it. Hopefully it can hold out another year or two for those prices to drop a little.

While it was a LCD, the old Lenovo Carbon X1 had a touchstrip. It was not customizable but you could cycle through a variety of different functions (include plain old F1-F12) that covered most of what you need. I don't mind it but most people hated it, to the point they got rid of it on the newer models. Unless you see a lot of specialized support for it I kind of expect people to have the same reaction to this touchbar.

I find the touchbar an odd choice given the number of laptops with touchscreens these days. But I guess it all depends on how many devs support it.

apple.com

yeah, i checked apple.com and since they hadn't updated the front page, i didn't think they updated the product pages yet.

edit: hah, comes in space grey. fantastic!

edit 2: yeah, guess what, the product pages are, in fact, not updated yet, so thanks for the snark :p
