Same... This really sucks. I'm not sure what the fuck to do. My current pro is dying, but I can't afford the options I need. Downgrading screen size will kind of suck, and having to live the dongle life now just seems shitty.

I'm so use to my big screen but I don't think a 13 would be too bad. . .but yea the price is crazy.

Idk what to say ....

These prices are bonkers even by their standards. What on earth

I thought it was smart to have a non touch bar version which I was quick to want when they showed it but for that starting price? ...

Either I'm telling them screw off or im about to start a hustle of some sort.

Best thing about Mac's is that you have the peace of mind to take it to a store and get it fixed if need be. The trouble with an XPS is that you need to ship it out and wait goodness knows how long to get any response from Dell.

I swear if the old one didn't have the old as shit Haswell i would immediately buy one of the refurbished ones, the new ones are so idiotic.

Heck after this i'm even thinking to switch to an XPS15.

Fuck I can't believe this pricing. The one I would want is $3199 with a 1TB SSD and there's just no way to justify that price for me.

You guys don't get it. You missed the boat.

It takes courage to start your prices at $1400+ you nerds. Do you guys even underhand courage culture?

Apple is going up. Their prices have to follow. You can't create a luxury brand at peasant prices.

Fall in line or get lost. Yeah, you can get a Windows laptop which can do all the same stuff for half the price... So what? It's not Apple. It won't "just work."

Have fun being made fun of for not having an Apple logo on your laptop when all your college classmates do, though, suckers.

I feel like Apple isnt putting their best foot forward now a days. I could be biased, I envied everyone who had a mac, and when I bought my MBA I lost interest in comparing and contrasting the different experiences that I could be having.

Im sure that these macbooks will be solid laptops, Apple really does make their stuff feel nice to use. Also, for my purposes (research, writing papers, making presentations) MacOS is solid as well. I believe that the macbook will continue to be a solid choice in the laptop and general computing space

The touchbar could be better. I really dont like not having a physical ESC button. Theres just no way thats justifiable to me. It seems just like a superficial upgrade, that doesn't add much. I dont want to be looking at rows of emojies, I dont want to have to go from pressing down and actuating a physical key to just touch a piece of glass. At first the favorite tab list looked cool, but it doesnt take a long time to open Chrome, and then open GAF. Thats just not a shortcut I need. Im exicited to see what third party apps use the touchbar for. If you give an idea to a whole community a handful is bound to make it work.

I dont think I would want a touchscreen to be the display either. because I just imagine having to rest my elbow of a table to touch something. I only want to use touch when the display is at an angle, and I think thats common. People dont normally stand their iphones or ipads stright up like a macbook display. They hold them at angles, its just what we've (or at least I) have been conditioned to do.

The 11" MacBook Air is discontinued :(

Also, £1750 ($2150) for the touch bar base Pro model ... the fuck.
They're hoping the 12" MacBook will fill that void...

Which it never will as long as it still costs $300 more on the low end.

The 13" Air dropped to $999 also to help fill that in. So your choices are a more expensive 12" with many limitations and possibly worse performance, or a 13" for much less but better performance, but a worse, less flexible display.

I can see them selling a lot of $1000 Airs even now. They really need to drop the price on that MacBook.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Fuck I can't believe this pricing. The one I would want is $3199 with a 1TB SSD and there's just no way to justify that price for me.

For $300 more you could grab a Surface Studio mid-range. Fuck.

What is a good Code editor for Windows along the lines of Coda 2?

I was looking for a good laptop but 1700€ for the 13" is straight up rape. I didn't understand the weight of the loss of Steve Job even as a non Apple fan or something but I understand the first day fan know. Almost no huge upgrade just what it's suppose to be in the first place...

So I want a ultrabook/laptop and the more a search the more I'm sure Apple and his offer is not for my wallet. 😑

Where can I get last years models for a good price?
My only thing is that they need to be able to stream 4k video via Plex without stuttering, I guess the 2015 models can do that.

For once I'm hesitant to blame Brexit here, I think Apple are just nuts :/

This isn't like the iPhone 7 where uk saw price increases but US didn't

Price increase is one thing, but Apple's USD has never been that close to GBP before. It's insane.

They used the same 720p facetime camera as on the Macbooks..whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I love my 2016 MB, but the facetime camera is very noticeably garbage.

I just ordered 2 Macbook Pro 15. One Base and the other upgrade with Radeon Pro 460.

I will return one of them when they arrive. There isn't enough information on these Polaris chips.

If you have a Discover Card, Shopdiscover has 5% cashback at Apple. Use that.

I thought I was ready but that pricing just killed all thrill. I cannot justify spending 3k+ for an MBP with the upgrades I'd want.

Back to searching I go to find a good laptop to do desktop and mobile duty.

erm

So how accurate are these estimated delivery dates? Because "Between November 17 and November 25" is way too damn long to wait after how long I've waited already ;__;

15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Grey

2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
16GB 2133MHz memory
512GB PCIe-based SSD
Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory
Backlit Keyboard (British) & User’s Guide (English)
Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
Touch Bar and Touch ID

£2,969.00 or with my fake NUS card that I paid £13 for it comes down to £2,672.40.

Plus you'll have to add the 3 years Apple Care now it's stopped being free for students.

The new Surface Book (laptop) is $2399.

Maybe the performance base one is what you're talking about? Direct apples to apples comparison is the traditional Surface Book which is right in line with that pricing, albeit a bit cheaper, and features a touch screen instead of a touch strip.

Honestly, Surface Book isn't much better. If I want a viable video machine I'm looking at 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM max on a smaller screen there, with 2GB VRAM, for $3299.

Equivalent new MBP is $2999.

Looks like I'm just riding my 2013 MBP in perpetuity.
