these prices are insane. wtf. they went up 200 on the base price for the mac book pro it was 1199 previously wtf. 1499 is disgusting for the entry level. should have been 1299 max.

How can I compare the specs of my current first gen Retina Macbook Pro (mid 2012) to one of the new ones?

It would help me decide if its time to upgrade or not.

I'm pretty uninspired by their trajectory in recent years, not really feeling this. That and the format of these presentations needs to die, the Jony Ive jerk off minute in particular

It's a forcing of a new standard before it's had a chance to come anywhere near properly saturated in the market. This is like eliminating VGA ports the day the HDMI spec came out. There's still a shit ton of people who still use USB-A devices, would it kill them to include one or two?

Apparently. It's just way too premature. I don't give a shit if USB-C is faster, no one else is ready yet.

The touchbar thing is silly. It's a strip. A thin one, at that.

It's like why go that way instead of having a touchscreen?

I mean the touch bar has a few obvious advantages to a touch screen:

- More space for content
- Don't have to move your hands as far
- No greasy ass display after a while

I'm tempted to get a 13 inch even though my current MBP is 15 inches.

Same... This really sucks. I'm not sure what the fuck to do. My current pro is dying, but I can't afford the options I need. Downgrading screen size will kind of suck, and having to live the dongle life now just seems shitty.

The web site hasn't been updated yet. Damn. I really want to browse around and look at the purdy pictures.

So the MBA is dead.
Not quite. It'll be available for a long time like the optical/HDD MacBook Pro was. Probably won't get many updates if any at all but it's there.

Zero desktops?

RIP iMac and Mac Mini ;_;
As soon as he mentioned it was the PowerBook's 25th birthday I knew this was just going to be about laptops. They didn't even update the MacBook itself so I'm sure the iMac will get an update silently down the road. Maybe the mini. As for the Pro... haha.. poor thing.

lol at people who are saying they are not upgrading from their 2015 Macbook pro. Why would you in the first place, you literally just got that laptop a year ago.

To be honest. I think they are pretty underwhelming. Would rather buy a surface and that comes from a guy who loves his mac.

Whats the point of the touchbar? I dont see it at all.. maybe i have to try it to see its usefulness

Yeah. I wonder what the last gen MacBook Pros will sell for now.
I am not looking to upgrade my almost 5 year old Air (which is still perfect), but I would hesitate at these prices.

The hands on for the bar better be spectacular to justify the price increase, because that is what you are paying for.

I am not hating on the USB C though because a lot of laptops will look like that in 2 years. It just makes sense to switch to that standard as soon as possible.
