For those who don't remember or never saw the bottom case leak, which this new picture matches perfectly:

Thinner, bigger trackpad, four USB-C ports and a 3.5mm jack.

Judging by the bezel I'd say that's the 13". Does it have speakers on the side now?

Sure seems that way.

Is this a quick mockup or is this another found image? I didn't see a file loc for this one.

This is what I assumed though, people freaking out about the ESC key is gone or whatever are jumping to conclusions.

This is a mockup. Note how the Power/Touch ID button isn't separated from the rest of the strip in this one.

Still, I suspect that is probably what we'll get, for the most part.

Hope that invite isn't indicative of the new line-up because that is damn lazy.

"Hello again" with the default iPhone wallpaper and an Apple logo vector. Looks terrible.

Thanks, yeah, should've noticed that.

The toolbar seems like an extension of Steve's original pitch for the iPhone – why have a physical keyboard when you can make that area whatever you want contextually? So I assume this is the same philosophy; depending on the app you might get ESC and Function keys, or you might get custom actions with unique icons, or within an app it might change based on the activity, such as the Apple Pay mode.

I wonder how they're going to handle context switching. Like, let's say I'm using some app that's using the OLED bar and I have Spotify running in the background. How would I quickly mute the audio?

I assume if it detects Spotify open (or any other app that's mapped to those keys) it would leave the keys active.

That's a good question. My guess is that holding the fn key will override the current app's usage and revert the bar to the system actions until you release the fn key.

Yeah I'd presume the current playing audio would get control routed to those touchbar keys.

The biggest surprise is apparently if the 13in gets front speaker grilles like that to me.

I'd expect the fake function keys to line up with the top row of keys at least, especially with the TouchID part pushing things over from the right.

Love it. Glad that this matched the leak top cases, but why bring back the 'MacBook Pro' lettering on the display? It looks so much nicer without it.

Still rocking my 2010 MacBook Pro my parents bought for me (just graduated uni and was supposed to be for all those video editing jobs I was gonna get)...

As it stands I'm terrified to see the prices for these in the UK after the iPhone 7/iPad price hikes since the Brexit vote. Guess I'd have to sell a kidney to even be able to dream of owning an up to date MBP. Damn thing looks sexy though and I would love a retina laptop screen. It will never be.

So the ESC key is gone now and part of the OLED bar at the top?
LOoks like it. Notice how in the image the wax key is even replaced with a Cancel button in the exact same natural location that command would be in anyway.

I can't wait to see how much more the strip can do. Hopefully it's fully customizable. I await BTT doing some magic with it themselves.

Hmm, not liking the lack of HDMI. I can imagine all sorts of handshake and compatibility problems in having to use USB-C.

For example, I see the HDMI Alt mode for USB-C to HDMI lacks HDR and 4K@60Hz support.

I'm 100% in if, for $2499, I can get:

-High-end quad-core Skylake bare minimum
-32GB RAM
-Better than 965M performance and at least 4GB VRAM
-1TB SSD

... I think it'll be that last part that is tough; I'm expecting 512 to be the base.

Why 32GB of RAM?

Debating between 512GB and 1TB myself.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?

16GB of RAM was quite a damn lot when I bought my laptop 3 years ago, and it has and still does treat me well. But if I would have had just 8gb - enough at launch - I'd be desperate for more now.

Considering RAM is soldered on, I'd like to feel just as confident in my next laptop purchase. I routinely use 8+GBs today between Chrome and Lightroom alongside PS.

That's what I'm scared of. I'd like the low-end 15" model, which is what I've always had, but I don't really want to spend more than the ~£1,500 it costs for the current one.

Nice. Yeah, my thought is in less than 3 years, I might be able to jump 3 Intel architectures ahead due to these new models still being Skylake, and in fact may want to, because of hardware video codec support. So go 16GB now and maybe as soon as two years from now, reconsider.

rumor is apple's ditching the hdmi port, very disappointing if it's true

You can see all the ports in the shell photos Guess Who posted.

4x USB-C ports and a headphone jack.

It's not ideal for you, but USB-C to HDMI cables are pretty cheap.

lol @ gettin 32gs for 2.5k in a apple laptop

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
And there it is.gif

Looks nice. Wish the bezels were minimized; but I like that the OLED strip doesn't seem to be broken into "quadrants," and instead is just a single, long slab of screen. Is Touch ID integrated UNDER the OLED display? If so, that's pretty snazzy.

Eh, the only unbelievable one there to me is the 1TB SSD. Quad-core Skylake is a given for the 15", the 15" is already 16GB RAM minimum (and maximum, actually) so 32GB as the step-up option is believable, and the RX 480M rumored to be in it is roughly a bit better than GTX 960M performance.

I'm interested as it's time to replace my 4 1/2 yr old laptop and since Apple products have slowly taken over my home (iPhones, iPads, and now Apple Watches), I'm considering a MacBook Pro.

With that said, how are current macs in terms of gaming? I'm not a huge gamer anymore, but I do have a reasonable Steam library and wouldn't mind still having the ability to play games, either natively in OS X or via Windows in Bootcamp. I know PC gaming is preferable, but just wondering how serviceable a MacBook Pro would be for occasional gaming.

Hmm, I currently have a 15" late 2015 rMBP 512 GB ssd, 16 GB RAM, AMD GPU build. It's basically the top of the line current MBP and it is in perfect condition. How much do you think I can get for it in order to upgrade if I decide to do that? Do you think I could get enough for upgrading to be less than $1000?

Definitely keeping my eye on this. My mid-2009 mbp has served me absurdly well but it's just not cutting it anymore.

I've been writing a lot lately so I'm kind of concerned about the feel of the keyboard more than anything else.
