If she can't move and laser AA it seems kind of hopeless.

You are right that not having a built in form of control will hurt her, but I think she'll be more of a bruiser anyway. Not to mention the fact that she can actually protect another target, which is unique insofar as tanks go, and may open up some new stuff in terms of comps.

The Graviton Surge is either gonna be the most OP thing or a joke. A lot depends on the size of the AOE and the rate of charge. If it's as big as the OW AOE, dat's gonna be gud.

Zarya has two ults. Graviton Surge and Expulsion Zone.

(Q) - Grenade
(W) - Personal Shield
(E) - Ally Shield

Also showed the laser as auto attack.

Zarya master skin is better than most of her real skins in OW. I'd use my creds on that shit in a heartbeat.

Parachute GG for the win.
 
I really hope Zarya isn't another bruiser. If they insit on giving us even more damn warriors, then they need to give us another tank. Muradin / ETC / Johanna does not cut it for solid tank picks. The fact that most warriors end up as "bruisers" indicates something is wrong with warrior development I think.
 
I think it's more likely that something is wrong with those 3 than anything is wrong with the others. They are also 3 of the most vanilla heroes in game, as well.

I don't see any way she can be anything but a bruiser and be similar to her OW version. She's not used as a primary tank there, though she does have excellent mitigation. She's used to shred people and allow others to shred with her ult.

They need to fix the warriors who should be able to solo tank but currently can't or are too niche. Stitches/Diablo/etc The mobility issues are real.
 
I wonder what Zarya will be categorized as. Ranged assassin? She doesn't really 'feel' assassin-y though. But doesn't feel unique enough or have enough pushing power to be a specialist.
 
She's a warrior/tank in OW so assume she will be one in HOTS. An actual true ranged warrior, unless they truly decide to make her ranged. That would be something, but I doubt it.

I guess she kinda seems like a ranged Artanis in a way. No real engage or disengage, and has to get in and stay in combat to be effective. So that makes some sense now that I stop and think about it.

Xel'Naga artifacts have begun to appear all across the Nexus, and SCVs are being deployed to collect them. Terminate the interlopers with extreme prejudice and collect artifact pieces!
To participate, log into the game and play. You'll get a daily quest to collect artifacts. At the start of a match, artifact pieces and SCVs may appear. Collect pieces to restore the artifact, but watch out for SCVs trying to interfere

Jake asked which two should be removed to keep the competitive map pool at 7 and everyone gave him those two responses. :-P

After watching the video, Zarya looks like a LOT like Tyrael in the Support/Warrior hybrid category. Complete with Holy Ground.
 
Isn't that more like 6 weeks? I guess it's the first time in a year we have had a longer than 4 week gap - and we will probably get a PTR the week beforehand. Expecting another big round of changes from the PTR as they do the second part of the talent rebalance.
 
Zarya is exactly what this game needs... "support" playmaking via counterplay with the shields, initiation/cc with the ultimate.

Alarak looks dope but his kit looks disappointing to me. A melee assassin/bruiser with no basic ability initiation or mobility... didn't they make that mistake with Artanis? Unless his charge ultimate is on a really quick cooldown (i.e. 15-20 seconds) he looks weak.

His Q animation appears really slow and will require setup from someone else. His W's effectiveness will depend on its cast range. His E looks like a lame line damage skill but maybe it has a cool effect on it that we don't know about yet (mana burn? %hp? more damage if more targets hit?). Also, what's his trait?

It looked like the displacement pushed people caught in it towards you and people caught in the outskirts of it to the side. At least it pushed 2 heroes into a mosh pit tangentially in the video. Could be a very high skill ceiling ability.

yeah I like it since it appears to have that flexibility

how "good" it will be though will depend on its range, since it looks like it could be difficult for him to get into useful positioning without his charge. but if he can knock people into his Q from a decent distance away with the W, that may not be the case.

if it turns out he requires the charge to get into useful positioning then we're going to end up with a nasty win and pick rate imbalance on his heroics

Show me said shit posts? I don't see any -- I see valid criticisms of the game design with regards to its esport viability. Sounds like you think they're shitposts because they go entirely over your head. Which actually makes perfect sense because someone at such a low level of play wouldn't even understand any of it. So if it bothers you so much to read about the game in a way that is different from how you play or perceive it, then simply ignore those posts and get lost.

Before you whine about me not actively playing the game as reasoning for your ridiculous oversensitivity to my posts, keep in mind the proportion of DOTA 2's viewership that watches the game but doesn't actively play. It's a huge population.

Agreed, but that user gets triggered by seemingly anything I post because I don't play the game actively anymore and generally post with criticisms that relate solely to the competitive and esport aspect of the game.

The viewership and esport aspect has become how I participate in the game and its community, and it is just as valid as anyone else. See: DOTA 2's viewership.

You never see me bitching or reacting negatively to the opinions of that poster despite the fact that they are generally from a completely different perspective than mine. It is always me being called out first for absolutely no reason.

So I think I'm completely justified in telling that person to fuck right off
