Bill O' Reilly does that samething ALL the time. He will talk about the "SPs" and liberals all day long. Even make a book about them, yet and still only spend 5% of his week talking bad about conseratives.

It's as if Conseratives don't do anything wrong in this guy's eyes. And don't get me started on how he views hip-hop.

I mean he will host a 5-8 minute arguement on how hip-hop is HORRIBLE for the community and how Ludacris is basically the worst thing in life, yet when somebody or people in hip-hop does something good he barely ever reports it.

He got Ludacris fired from Pepsi because he curses in his lyrics and talks about drugs. But now that Luda has a huge song on the radio about young girls running away from home due to bad conditions (like being rapped) he doesn't report on that.

Wouldn't talking to Ludacris about that song help his case with the Jessica law? Couldn't he hit 2 birds with one stone? Yes he could, but he would rather tear Luda a new one before he sides with him.

What is Bill OReilly saying about Blu-ray again? I don't follow...

The AVS thread is gone

It doesn't matter. Japan is already decided. Australia as well. Europe will be done faster than over here once the PS3 releases. With new cheaper players coming and some really killer titles, I'm enjoying the Blu train.

I just don't understand what the big hoopla is about. Blu-ray was all but guaranteed from the start to squash HD-DVD... but DVD will continue to bitch-slap them both.

Honestly, I don't see any logical scenario where DVD will be usurped as the mainstream medium, until digital distribution eventually takes its place (which is inevitable). In the meantime... enjoy your movies on your platform of choice, preferably without all the needless chest-thumping.

Dude listen! It's called wanted a High Def movie format for our HDTVs. We want only ONE HD format. So one has to die. And that one has to die soon for the other to get over the ground.

Really? A thread called "Blu-ray takeover watch" is pro-Blu-Ray? WTF!!!!!!!!!!

Lock it! My only regret is that it took 10 pages for us to figure this out!

If people are not liking the thread, why read it? Some of us actually want some HD format to be successful and want the annoying format war to end. Unlike videogame systems, multiple HD formats are not likely to succeed.

To be honest, I only want Blu-ray to win because I have a PS3. :lol

I am sure I would be singing a different tune if I had a 360 with the HD-DVD add-on instead.

Of course, the Blu-ray's larger capacity is just icing on the cake. :)

Thanks for bringing a deep analysis to the discussion, especially with an objective opinion.

We do all appreciate it.

No. Mainly because of posts like yours.

While I do own the 360 add-on, like I said before, I don't care if Blu-Ray "wins". I will be getting a PS3 probably within the next year or two (if MGS4 stays exclusive and if Blu-Ray is the only hi-def format), so why do I care if Blu-Ray wins. Besides if HD-DVD loses won't all of the movies be clearance priced so stores can get rid of them? It would be a nice way for me to get a whole lot of HD movies on the cheap (I have 16 HD-DVD's right now). I'm not going to lie, I wish I had a Blu-Ray player. However, I prefer HD-DVD just because of its HD-I features and it has a ton of movies that I like (and it only cost me $200 for the player, not $5/600).

And the X360 cost $400 (retail).

Stop spinning man; the writing is on the wall. HD-DVD supporters especially if they claim to not care if blu-ray wins, like yourself and manabyte and etc... should just lay down arms. No point fighting it; otherwise its just agitate more useless rhetoric.

And this thread ain't over until Universal announces BD support.

No shit? I said the player cost me $200. I bought the 360 when it came out, so that was all ready a sunk cost. I elected to pay $200 so that I could watch HD-DVD's. I had the choice if I wanted an HD player, I wasn't forced to pay for it.

And if you want a thread that only praises Blu-Ray why don't you make a Blu-Ray only thread or something? You make it seem like we shouldn't able to say anything positive about HD-DVD in this thread.

My point is that to get you a X360 based HD-DVD player from scratch will still cost you 500-600 bucks anyway; just as it will for a PS3. Maybe it's a 200 decision for you; but it's not like you'll only be buying a PS3 for BD only, meaning that it's not as simple as 200 vs 600. But I digress.

Any this thread is pretty much about BD's domination of HD-DVD. That's the intent!

There are actually more neutral discussion threads about both HDDVD and BD around. So don't go confusing the intent of the thread there. It's *all* about HD media supporters gathering around the fire of the HD-DVD's corpse giggling with glee as we finally send this wasteful (journalist) media created war into the depths of history.

I didn't realize the HD DVD guys had started their own thread. I thought this was interesting though:

Right now, Blu-ray has three titles in Amazon's Top 40 DVDs, not the Top 100.

We have not seen this before. This is a first.

you seem like the most bitter HD-DVD fan around here, out of curiosity, how much did you invest in HD-DVD?

Well it's a good thing you asked. Bought recently, even after all that "Universal fiasco" surrounding the CES event, I just sat down and looked at both currently in the market and what's available and made my choice with HD DVD.

I have nothing against Sony, as some HD DVD fans tend to be, but I wanted a dedicated HD player, not a videogame console (always been like that, my PS2 and Xbox are a big no no for DVD playback). So narrowing all that the best reviewed standalone HD/BR player on the market right now are the Toshiba (I don't think anyone can argue with that).

Price, quality, titles released, consistency (transfers) and DVD upscaling (which is doing a great job) were the factors that I wanted. And everything about the format is pretty much all finalized (except maybe the resume play button), so I wanted to check out what that HDi interactivity was all about.

So I have right now a Toshiba HD-A2 with 7 titles:

The Departed, Batman Begins, The Bourne Supremacy, Corpse Bride, The Hulk, King Kong, V for Vendetta.

And a partial list of movies that I'll get soon (currently available): (Constantine, Chronicles of Riddick, Four Brothers are the 3 free movie deals from Toshiba), Army of Darkness, Unleashed, The Thing, Tokyo Drift, A Christmas Story, NIN: Beside You in Time, The Scorpion King (a must for wrestling fans ;).

So how much have you spent on Blu-Ray?

The lastest Videoscan sales show that from Jan 27 to Feb 4, Blu-ray went from 87.6% sales since inception to 92.5% - a whopping 5% jump. This translates to nearly 3:1 movie sales advantage for Blu-ray. In fact, it's the biggest sales difference in a week since the release of the PS3.

Wow that's great. And they are both great prices too.

I payed less for the Departed combo disc. (EDIT: Less than the BRD price listed there, I mean)

When will BD-J be complete so PiP works like it should?

Actually it's not a BD-J issue, it's a secondary video issue. I think hopefully by May there will be enough players with this feature and enough testing to get PiP on BD out the door.

I just bought Departed and prestige. My prime trial ran out and I am a cheap ass and picked the free shipping so I won't have them till sometime next week.

Also has anyone heard anything new about the 24 and prison break release?

What what what?

24 on Blu-ray? I'd be so all over this as soon as it came out.

So I ordered The Departed on Thursday and had yesterday off due to the holiday. All day I'm expecting the DVD to show up since I picked the Amazon 2-day option. It's almost 5 when I have to go pick up my girlfriend and UPS isn't here, so I check Amazon.

Says my order should go out on the 28th and it's in stock but takes 6-12 days to ship. >< At least Babel went out yesterday.

EXTRA EXTRA!!! Read all about it! 4 Blu-ray titles are now in the top 100 on amazon. That's never happened before (HD DVD never had more than 1). The sales keep rolling on.
