VanMardigan said:Hey now, 300 HD is still selling well, and there's another Warner title on the top 10 as well......on HD DVD.
distantmantra said:300 BR is outselling both of them combined, though.
Hell, Batman Begins on BR would sell like gangbusters.
jjasper said:So I take it nothing important came out this week then huh?
VanMardigan said:300 was right in the Ps3 audience's wheelhouse. And I'm sure BB would sell well on Blu Ray, but probably not nearly as much as it would have if it had launched simultaneously with the HD DVD release. I don't think anybody expected such a long delay for the BR interactivity features. It's crazy that in September 2007, they're still not here.
jjasper said:That is because if they launched at the same time HD DVD owners would have out numbered Blu Ray owners 3:1 or so. If the movie was to come out right now on both there would be about the same difference between HD DVD and Blu ray as there was for 300.
VanMardigan said:I don't think you understood my post. But you certainly make a valid point in terms of what might've happened if they had launched simultaneously.
New Line Home Entertainment has announced that they will be bringing the Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan action/comedy hit 'Rush Hour 3' to Blu-ray on December 26th (a Wednesday release - Tuesday is Christmas). The film will be exclusive to Blu-ray until the HD DVD is released sometime next year. No specs have been announced at this time.
VanMardigan said:6 months? Is that confirmed? That's pretty bad. At least the catalog releases are safe from that (LOTR).
distantmantra said:Hairspray is also delayed six months on HD-DVD. They're doing this for all titles that New Line holds worldwide distribution rights on, since HD-DVD lacks region coding. I never heard it being exclusive to new releases.
VanMardigan said:No, I know about the delays and the region coding stuff, I'm just asking about the number of months: 6. Has that been confirmed for these titles? And what's the significance of 6 months?
jjasper said:How will waiting 6 months solve anything that has to do with HD DVD region coding?
jjasper said:How will waiting 6 months solve anything that has to do with HD DVD region coding?
VanMardigan said:They don't want to release a region-free copy in the US before the film has been distributed to each region.
VanMardigan said:But these are last week's sales, no? Meaning, the releases from 9/11? So next chart should be the 9/18 releases, unless I'm getting this all wrong??
Oni Jazar said:You are correct.
VanMardigan said:So that means that for next week's numbers, the releases are:
* Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut (Warner)
* Deliverance (Warner)
* Elizabeth (Universal)
* For Love of the Game (Universal)
* Jailhouse Rock (Warner)
* The Last Starfighter (Universal)
* Smallville: The Complete Sixth Season (Warner)
* Troy: Director's Cut (Warner)
* Viva Las Vegas (Warner)
* We Are Marshall (Warner)
VS
* Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut (Warner)

Wollan said:Walked into the store today and to my surprise I saw the Spiderman Trilogy. How long has this been available? Thought it was further off but now I have it. Alongside that I also fetched the 300, Unforgiven and Ultraviolet (it's Milla dammit). BD of course.

Like it's a fucking excuse. He wants a better version of the movie, one that they have no reason whatsoever not to provide but are skimping on regardless.VanMardigan said:Don't bother. He'll just use the TrueHD excuse. Whatever it takes, I guess.

When I picked up my PS3, I was really looking forward to seeing all these horror classics in high-def for the very first time. But while I've been patiently awaiting their release, Monsters HD came along on Dish network and has shown almost everything I wanted to purchase. HD-DVR ftw I guess.Cosmic Bus said:First(?) review for Bram Stoker's Dracula on Blu.
New Line is apparently planning a next gen release for 'Rush Hour 3,' with the Blu-ray expected just after Christmas, and the HD DVD to follow sometime in 2008.
Although it was critically reviled, the third film in the Jackie Chan-Chris Tucker franchise has grossed $133 million in the five weeks since its theatrical release in early August.
Now, according to information published by Home Media Magazine, New Line is planning a next-gen release for the film, with the Blu-ray edition hitting stores on December 26, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD (a rare Wednesday street date).
The second next-gen title to surface from dual-format supporting studio New Line, like 'Hairspray' before it, The HD DVD version of 'Rush Hour' will hit stores sometime after the Blu-ray. (As part of its initial announcement for 'Hairspray,' the studio said that region-coding concerns would prevent it from immediately releasing many of its early titles on HD DVD, but it promised they would see release sometime in early 2008.)
Although New Line has yet to issue a press release with specs, according to Home Media Magazine, the 2-disc platinum edition DVD is set to include audio commentary, deleted scenes and a featurette. We can only assume those features will find their way to the next-gen releases as well.
Both the Blu-ray and the forthcoming HD DVD editions are listed with a $39.99 list price. We'll let you know when more information on this title comes in.
Cosmic Bus said:Final specs for Zodiac are up:
It appears there are indeed only five minutes of footage added, corroborating what I'd been hearing recently. Disappointing in a sense, as there was talk of a full 30-45 minutes being added, but I'll be quite happy to finally have the film on HD and not have to concern myself with owning a separate release for what I thought was going to be a significantly different theatrical cut. The commentaries should be excellent, too.
