Is it a Sony Pictures movie?

Black Book, Spiderman 1-3 also have icons. :D

Really? nice. Anyone knows if there is any special deals this Tuesday for the Spider-man box set? I'm on the cusp of pre-ordering with Amazon for the low price, but I do not want to wait another week for it.

Wait what... Lost Season 3 coming to Bluray on December 11? What about Seasons 1 and 2?

And the boxart sucks, the DVD season boxes look so much better. I'm sad about the box, but happy that Lost is finally coming to bluray.

1/2 are not announced yet, same as Nip/Tuck and Smallville .
Next year will be a hell of a year all around.

Yeah I remember seeing that in the trailer. :D

So, how was the movie?

i know the question wasn't directed @ me, but i really enjoyed reign over me. it was a blind buy, and one i don't regret at all. at the very least, it's worth a rent.

No no, any impressions are welcome. :) Yeah, I liked what I saw in the trailer. I might get it.

I didnt answer cause i was only about half way through. It just ended. I too got it on a blind buy, its rather sad, mixed with sort of dark comedy.

glad I didn't order from Amazon for the Spider-Man trilogy. It's going to be $60.99 (plus no tax since I'll be buying it in Oregon) at Best Buy and I have $20 in certificates.

Excelsior!

I found the box set at Target for 64.99

I also found one at Bestbuy for 69.99 but you have to put the order in the cart to see the price.

Walmart has it for $68.87.

I think I will buy the boxset at target.

And I just happen to have a $50 gift card for Target. Nice.

Problem with Target.com orders are that they take FOREVER. I ordered Halo 3 from them on the September 23rd and got it on second week of October. :lol

Ok I just finished 2001 A Space Oddyssey. i had never seen it. It was on the verge of becoming one of my favorite movies ever, and then bam that scene came, you know that scene, the acid trippers wet dream of a scene.

Are you alluding to that it might be released? If so I might hold off on the DVDs for Lost 1 & 2.

Which would be good since I plan to purchase Spiderman trilogy, Ratatouille, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Call of Duty 4, Stranglehold Collector's Edition and Uncharted. I also have to pay to neuter my mom's cat. I'm gonna be broke. :lol

Thank goodness for Christmas. :D

This is kind of an inconclusive statement. You're implying the end is preventing it from becoming a favorite? A shame.

Anyone who doesn't mind waiting a few days for the set to arrive can get it from Family Video (a site I've done business with in the past, and would definitely recommend without hesitation) for $55.99 after using the coupon NEWPGMEM.

I had the exact same feeling when I watched it about 6 years ago. I felt that scene was straight out of a IMAX film or something like that and it seems as though it lasts for a good long time.

At the risk of looking stupid, what resolution are HD tv shows like this actually filmed in? I know they only broadcast in 720p right now.

Lost is shot on Super 35, post is done in 1080p/24. It's only in 720p because it's being shown on ABC.

Alright, I finally had to take the 360 HD-DVD plunge with the 5 free HD-DVDs and all. Now GAF, I need a few suggestions. I dont need movie recommendations, as I can handle that on my own. But would I would like are a few recommendations of what are the best HD-DVDs released so far in terms of PQ. Its a new toy, so I need some eye candy. No need to mention Transformers, as you couldnt miss the circle jerk over that one.

YES, Spider-man trilogy on blu-ray will be 60.99 on Tuesday. No Amazon for me, I am buying this on my lunch break on Tuesday. I wonder if i will get the free mask for buying the boxset.

QUESTION: Will spider-man 3 on blu-ray be the same as the 2 disc dvd special edition or just the movie.

So I got my 5 free HD-DVDs yesterday.Sent out for them at the end of August,2 months wasnt that bad a wait.

Constantine,Perfect Storm, and Tomb Raider are in perfect condition.

Chronicles of Riddick has one small slash in the bar code,no big deal as you can see in the pic...

Now for my copy of the Rundown...

Ouch the PQ quality of Spider-man 1 sucks. Thankfully Spider-man 2 and 3 have better PQ on blu-ray than the first movie.

I've seen it. It doesn't suck at all. It's very detailed, colours look great, and it's a massive improvement over the DVD

I don't understand why a few reviewers decided to say it was crap and then every fanboy on the internet agrees (not calling you a fanboy btw) even though most of them haven't seen it

Well, based on those shots, S-M1 doesn't look like a huge upgrade. However, the movie worth caring about in the series, S-M2, looks incredible.

I was reading some reviews at DVD Beaver, and it appears that ALL the Kubrick releases that just came out are sporting the same encode on both BRD and HD DVD.

Yeah the 2001 transfer is supposedly demo material and arguably the best on the formats so far, which is amazing considering the age of the film.

Not the end itself. The end where Dave keeps seeing an older self, that fit in with the movies wierdness. Im talking about the totally unnecessarily long acid trip with all the annoying colors and mountains and oceans where it looks like all they did is film stuff on earth then purposfully fuck up the film for all the "pretty" colors. I hate scenes like that, i cant name other movies off hand that do something similar.
For me it was a disconnect with the rest of the movie, most of the rest of the movie i was sitting there wondering how they did such convincing space scenes. Except for the dawn of man scene there wasnt any other shots of anything resembling earth except for the acid trip scene.

The Rundown is five times better than all those other crappy movies you picked. Twenty times better even. Shame on you.

I dropped by two Walmarts in my area last night and neither of them had the A2 for $198. In one of the stores I didn't even see them at all, and in the other it was on the shelf for $300. Guess they haven't rolled that deal out everywhere yet.

They all suck because I already owned the only good ones they were offering.

And Perfect Storm > Rundown

Tomb Raider is by far the worst one and the pic quality isnt anything special.

Rundown is decent, but its not something I would have bought.

Riddick was bought simply for pic quality,as was the other one.

HOW DARE YOU CALL THE RUNDOWN SHITTY. Seriously, that movie is soooo awesome, in the most cheesy amazing way. Like, make some drinking games out of it, and shout RUNDOWN everytime the Rock kicks someones ass or Sean William Scott does something stupid. It's awesome.

I didnt know the Rundown was so well loved here.I dont think it's complete shit,I wouldnt have picked it at all then.I just dont think it's OMG AWESOME.

I'm also pissed at Universal right now so FUCK ALL THEIR MOVIES :D

I still do like Peter Berg as a director, huge fan of Friday Night Lights.

New rumor that WB might announce HD-DVD exclusivity this Wed (Oct 31st):

This past week I was at a WB Press Event for their Q4 titles. The Toshiba Team was on hand I interviewed both them and WB about Q4.

Off the record I asked if anything would be happening on the 31st concerning the possible expiration of the BD contract with WB and they both danced around the question, but one of them said that something interested... "If I were a betting person, which I am, I would bet something...." then I was interrupted and missed the rest of it. Read in to it what you will, but my personal belief is something is going to happen or be announced come the 31st.

Also, in the WB portion he gave me an exclusive about a title coming in January. Check it out here.

http://www.eyecravedvd.com/article.p...71025104926326

Thanks. I AM not allowed to say officially, but, unofficially, I say yes.

There was an interesting thread in the bluray forum on Warner renewing membership in the BDA in Oct. which as of a few weeks ago they had not. So you think Warner will announce exclusivity around halloween before the xmas shopping season or after xmas at CES?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=929319

I said it was a rumor. :) It is a very interesting one, though, with people in the industry in that thread hinting that they believe this rumor is true. :)

We will see soon enough I suppose.

WB Exclusive announcement to go along with cheap HD-DVD players at Wal-Mart, CC, etc. this Fall would have a massive impact on this format war.
