OH SNAP!!

Of course, they're fake, Sattelite HD capture. But OMFG! Still.

Some guy made them yesterday and posted them. How are they "old as fuck"? :lol

I'm glad you posted them - they're gorgeous! I have the trilogy saved on my HD DVR from HBO. I'll have to back them up on an external HDD at some point.

I'm dvr-ing Episode 4 on hbo hd right now. Looks great, but you can tell that it's an upscaled version sadly. I haven't seen any 'new' details. They showed Return a couple of days ago but I missed it. I'm guessing that Empire and Return are the same, upscaled Special Editions as well?

To me, it appeared superior to upscaled quality, but inferior to the best HD HBO movies. In other words, some movies are obviously upscaled, but these did not appear so (to me).

WooHoo My amazon BoGo Blu-rays are here two days early; 300 and unforgiven. I wish I had the time to watch them but I won't finish my final for a few days. Still, as crappy as the weather has been, it'll be nice to sit down and watch these soon.

Hmm, fair enough. There were definitely no artifacts and the picture was very clean. I don't watch a lot of movies on my hd hbo so I'm not really that well versed.

Anyone with Lost: Season 3 having issues? I'm having major problems playing this on my PS3. I went through the entire set and on my first run through trying to load all of the discs the only discs that would load were discs 2 and 5. Every other disc would hang and completely lock up the PS3 at a blank screen. I could get part of the XMB menu to come up by pushing the PS button, but it was the menu that only lets you turn off the controller or turn off the system. It's like it didn't recognize it was even in playback mode anymore.

On the discs that would not load it would play the Buena Vista stuff and warnings and any previews (in the case of disc 6) that played before the menus but it would always hang at the menu. The discs that did load showed a loading bar before the menu so it must be a java menu of some kind and the PS3 is having issues.

I did wipe down Disc 1 and finally got it to load the menu, but was not successful getting Disc 3 to load even after wiping it a few times. So now I'm at a loss. Return the set because it's a disc issue, or is it an issue with MY PS3 (laser issues, ie. get a laser lens cleaner disc or vacuum it out really good) , or is it an issue that would need to be fixed in firmware that would affect other players too? Does anyone else with the set have a PS3 and is experiencing the same unreliability in getting the discs to load at the java menu?

And in my race to check out my PM’s looking for anything meaningful like photos from mystic , I see that I’ve received a bunch of PM’s on ………………guess what ?

The WW II (Warner Watch) situation.
Many folks asking if I am truly in the loop on this thing and if it is just another one of those rumors like the one started by that AVS member that came trolling around here on our forum a few months ago perpetrating WW I.

Answer –
This current WW is nothing like the crap posted by that troll (which, if memory serves, I shot down in 15min. or so as per your guys’ request for the truth). This situation has substance.

Yes, I’m in the loop, just as I was when Paramount got mounted ………………

Has quill-pen hit paper(s) yet, you ask?
No, not yet, so keep buying those WB Blu-rays this holiday season and when we look back in retrospect on this situation we can all proudly claim that we won this thing truly on consumer merit- so that the red ants never cry foul as other dominos fall successively.
I will try awfully hard to give you guys a heads-up(with an appropriate YouTube link)- even if it’s just the day before any formal format announcement but, I make no promises.
And please don’t hold your breaths for impending news as things take time.

Is he hinting that Warner will go where the sales are?

They said "they'd be watching the sales closely" this holiday, so yeah, I guess.

But the real question is: Will Van Mardigan buy WB HD-DVD's now? :D

Heh, well. If Warner would release Batman Begins And V for BD, their "decision" should be a no brainer. I guess i still have to wait. :/

Got my copy of The Bourne Ultimatum today from HD Movie Source. Their shipping is sooo quick, glad I pre-ordered with them. Probably the best online store yet for Canadian customers (at least in the east coast, and fast shipping for only 2.99!!!).

I refuse to believe that actual insiders talk like Petrarca.

Checking a couple of the special features on The Bourne Ultimatum. Really surprised that all the features are in HD except the deleted scenes. More surprisingly is that they're encoded in MPEG-2.

There's now a "My Scene Inbox" in the web features, where you can view Frank Marshall's (the producer) favorite scenes, that's pretty cool.

So I just picked up Cars on Blu-ray for my girlfriend. I noticed the "this movie may take 2-3 minutes to load' screen, but I didn't get that. what I DID notice was that the movie seems to freeze / stutter for a few minutes instead, before playing smoothly. Is there any update that avoids this?

Penton-Man just said it's overall sales numbers rather than just Warner titles that will influence their decision, if so very good news for Blu-Ray.

HD-DVD's only chance of winning a week has to be this weeks numbers. (which we'll get next Friday of course.)

Showdown time!

:lol
Enderle is just seriously just the saddest flaw to ever draw breath.
His latest essentially concedes Warner to blu, and then turns and spouts off on a tangent as to why downloaded media is better than physical (and getting in some Microsoft love too).
Too long to quote and I refuse to link and give whatever shithole site is supporting him ad hits, but you know where to find it if you feel the need.

Edit :lol Beat by a minute

Rob Enderle Suicide Watch is right. Now he's saying optical discs are doomed and digital-downloads are the way to go :)

Well, that is Microsoft's ultimate policy, even though they are half-heartedly propping up HD DVD for the time being to hold off Blu-ray's gaining traction.

Anyone who knows Enderle's "work" knows that he's just an MS shill. Never a surprise he's toting the water for them.

How is Enderle's name mentioned again and again when it's plainly obvious to anyone that matters a damn that the guy is the plainest and douchiest viral marketer out there?

...

Or is that giving the guy too much credit?

ughhh amazon.com can kiss my ass,way to treat a loyal prime member.

I pre-ordered Lost Season 3 on Blu-ray early September and I get an email just now telling me the "Shipping estimate has been changed to : January 9, 2008 - January 23, 2008
Delivery estimate: January 10, 2008 - January 24, 2008" :|

I see on the AVS forum two people so far have had theirs changed to shipping soon.

Amazon just lost my money on this one, guess I'll have to check some best buys :(

Damn that doesn't sound good. I hope the problem source is identified soon.

You know, I once had that problem with Planet Earth when I ordered from them, but they surprisingly shipped 2-3 weeks earlier than their estimate for me. I think the timeline they quote is just a safety measure just in case it takes that long. Hopefully it'll ship sooner for you.

But which one do I watch? Might have to go for the theatrical because I haven't seen it in years.

Amazon UK have one of those 'vote and get a discount' things that amazon.com have.

link here http://www.amazon.co.uk/customersvote

round 2 is today. contenders include a Toshiba EP30 HDDVD player for £47.

If you vote for an item and it wins, amazon will select 250 people who voted for that to be given the option to buy it at that price. Even if it doesn't win, amazon pick 250 people and give the player a 25% discount off the amazon price.

losing at the moment to a cheap satnav unit though.

and you've already missed yesterday's chance to get a PS3 for £69
