where?! I was just at CC.Snah said:Fuck yes. Harry Potter / Die Hard BOGO here I come.
I'm glad I waited on HP.

harry potter 5 was one of the best movies i saw all year - loved it.
Doublethink said:Does anyone know how Edward Scissorhands looks? I'm tempted to buy it along with Castaway.
Black Deatha said:Another BOGO, cool, I haven't ordered any movies from amazon while they had one going before, mainly due to the fact that I already own most of the movies on the list that I otherwise would order. That said, I might go for 28 Weeks later (have 28 days, absolute shit PQ) and maybe the Transporter, (the good one, the first one).
I never saw Shoot em Up, but have decided to blind buy it, of coarse not today, because my Future Shop didn't get it in... (ONCE AGAIN). However they do apparently have 'War'. Never saw this one either, anyone know if it's any good?
EDIT: Nice, I just saw this: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/new...hanges/Sony_Re-Announces_Gattaca_Blu-ray/1313
Been wondering for ages what ever happened to this one.

Gattaca on Blu is a must have.
drohne said:i actually haven't participated much in all these BOGO sales, but i just picked up the shining and full metal jacket from amazon. i've still got that 10% off hd movies discount, so it came out to $16 for both discs. nice.
edit: actually that's such a sweet deal that i feel like i should order more stuff. i've been trying not to accumulate movies that i'm only going to watch once, but goddamn
Azrael said:Interesting development. Shoot Em Up is Warner/New Line's first encode optimized for Blu-ray -- that is, it maxes out above the 36 mbps limit of HD DVD. If Shoot Em Up is released on HD DVD, they'll have to re-encode it. This could indicate they have no plans to release the film on HD DVD. If they do release an HD DVD version later, we'll finally have a film released on both formats with optimized encodes to compare PQ on. Incidentally, an insider at blu-ray.com claims Warner will be optimizing future Blu-ray releases like Batman Begins (supposedly coming in May) as well.
Naked Snake said:What is this 10% discount and how do you get it? Does Amazon give it away with your first bluray purchase from them? I read elsewhere that it lasts 1 year from activation.
Black Deatha said:A couple pages back there was that article quoted talking about the format war, I mentioned the studios exclusive to HD DVD, and on the list was the Weinstein Company. I gotta ask, when the hell did this happen? I know they are of almost no relevance, but if I am not mistaken, they would be the key to us getting Kill Bill, and the Grindhouse movies.
Naked Snake said:I was wondering earlier today what bluray movie has the highest bitrate for video? Is it one of the Pirates of the Caribbean discs? I'm also wondering if we'll eventually have movies split on 2 BD50 discs allocating all space to the feature with no extras on the disc (ala LotR Extended Edition DVDs)... Or would that be truly overkill for VC-1 encodes? Don't the Pirates movies already use a full 50GB disc for the movie alone? Like "Superbit" DVD releases of old.
