Since I just did the buy 3 get 2 BB deal I think I'll try to trade my HD-DVD of Pan's Labyrinth for the Blu version. Will BB give me shit about exchanging for a different format? I did not open it and it is the same price.
DarienA said:I was just reading an article yesterday that said there were 3 steps to getting the war over and that the first step was doing whatever sony had to do to get warner to go blu ray exclusive.

avaya said:Universal sued Sony over Betamax because it allowed people to record TV (thus their IP) for the first time. Sony won a very long battle from the late 70's to the early 80's in the Supreme Court. That ruling is the sole basis for every consumers right to legally record TV, radio, or make backups of any media they own for their personal consumption.

OokieSpookie said:I will be honest, I refused to see the TMNT movie in the theater out of spite but it was actually pretty good and looked damned good when I rented it on blu.
(ordered it a few days ago on the amazon bogo too)

CD, VHS, VCR, DVD, HD-DVD....Blu-ray
Sweet name Sony.

Meh, I don't think morality has anything to do with something so trivial. And that's IF your moral compass is wonky.

Universal were fingered for gimping the original PSP design, preventing any TV output (or future UMD -> TV adapter), as a concession for releasing their content on UMD.Oni Jazar said:Universal did release PSP movies though, before UMD pretty much died as a viable format.
Burai said:Yeah, I'm a big fanboy from back in the day, so I'm looking forward to it.
I got TMNT along with Penguins and Corpse in a 3-for-2, Casino for £8, and the Spidey set for £30. Planet Earth is full price, but I don't care because it's pure awesome. At least it was in SD. Can't wait to see it!

What an odd complaint.
BRD or BD.
You don't say Digital Video Disc. You say DVD.
Xeke said:Yeah. I'll go compare the websites that call it a BRD or a BD compared to just Blu-ray and then do the say for Digital Video Disc and DVD, I'm so sure they'll be the same.
I just don't like how it doesn't roll off the tongue like DVD or even HD-DVD does. Nothing against the format itself. Betamax wasn't much better.

steve said:BD is the official tag for the format.
So the official list of support now looks something like this, right?
BD
Warner Bros
Sony Pictures
20th Century Fox
Miramax
MGM
Lionsgate
Miramax/Dimension
HDDVD
Universal
Paramount Pictures
Dreamworks SKG

Xeke said:Okay, maybe roll off the tongue wasn't the best way to phrase it but it just follows the same system as before.
"Now on VHS"
"Now on CD"
"Now on DVD"
"Now on HD-DVD"
"Now on Blu-ray"
Which is the odd one out.
