The more I play this level the more I like it.
I keep coming across new rooms and areas.

But I will agree that is a little too..."Paris"
Fun level though

For you.
Thanks! backed up my saves, waiting on the reinstall now :) excited to check out the update!

To be fair, the game:

a) Has Steam cloud support
b) It also has a cloud of it's own in-game which is linked to your account

Basically, even if you deleted your saves on your computer you'd still have them :p

I really liked the new level. I know it's just a hotel but there is an incredible amount of detail in it, and I think it works better than Paris

Also since when was this game "Ripped from the headlines"?

Literally all of these have been based off of other works of fiction. Not hot topics.

Paris: Zoolander
Sapienza: Metal Gear Solid
Marrakesh: Splinter Cell
Bangkok: Blood Money (Playboy hit, but with a map similar to the Casino.)

And if the US level is Redneckistan (For the third game in a row... *snore*), then it'll be Absolution Redux.

...I just want a Hitman game where the US level is a major economic-center city like New York, Chicago, or LA instead of another variation on Bumfuck Deep South Town that IO Interactive seems to love doing...

Just as a little easter egg, I suggest y'all head down to the terrace near where the lawyer walks around in Thailand; hang out by a couple guys in beach chairs. Now that is ripped from the headlines.

Colorado is in the 'bumfuck deep south'?

Sapienza: Metal Gear Solid

This entire game is Metal Gear Solid. 47 is Snake, the mystery guy is Ocelot, and Providence is the Patriots.

Although I didn't expect
the ICA to already figure out what's really going on
this early. So the remaining episodes will be
trying to track down mystery guy
?

Also, I think I like Bangkok more than Paris. This is Hitman - there will always be single-building levels; the question is how well-designed they are. This level ramps up the design in subtle ways.

- It's not really one building but
two, when it comes down to it - you can't just freely cross between the north and south towers
.
- Items aren't just scattered randomly everywhere - have you tried actually finding a specific tool in Paris without resorting to a map? You find items only in places that make sense.
- It feels like a lived-in place where it matters. Specific characters' rooms are very well done in terms of storytelling.
- More complex room layout means many different choices of paths and interesting ways to create and block paths of sight.
- The level actually presents mysteries that you want to solve (
what's on the recording, what happens at the meeting between the lawyer and the manager
), and it makes you work for it. You don't get to see those things if you just go for the kills.

Added bonus: the "setpiece" music in Bangkok doesn't crank up the bass every time you walk nearby.

And whoever mentioned a skyscraper level: this building is already pretty vertical with all the floors - I'm not sure an actual skyscraper level would have many more floors than that (that you can access).

There were a few deep-south missions in Blood Money, but they were far from the majority. Though I get where you're coming from with a city-based level set in the US. Would certainly be interesting to have a level set in a bustling New York neighbourhood.

The unfortunate thing about the episodic nature of this game is that we're not going to see something like A New Life, which is a fairly small environment, but that small scale gives it a bit of extra personality and intimacy. If they made a level like that, people would likely complain about not getting a huge level with tons of content.

Something else about the design of this level just struck me. The most subtle point yet.

The whole mission was made harder than it otherwise would have been just by having gender parity among the hotel staff. That's all it took.

So expect the Japan level to have geishas everywhere, I guess?

(I didn't even notice this until I started doing the elusive - for my story run I ended up clocking a whole 80 minutes without knocking anyone out, without using any coins, and without needing to pick any locks. I appreciate that this level basically doesn't force you to brute-force your way around.)

the download finished too late for me to finish the mission tonight but I scouted it around. At first blush I like the level layout a lot, but I can see that its not set up for as much "wacky" stuff. I am curious what ways they'll find to put spins on it with elusives and stuff

For you.
Now that you can finally search for a specific contract, it would be nice if people here shared some of theirs.

For PC/Steam, here are some I made recently:

there really should have been more interesting unrelated guets at tjhe hotel. there is not a single room occupied that is is not affiliated with the band. there ar some guests in the lobby and restaurant but it would have been a great opportunites to havem some fun, exciting, interesting and crazy stuff in this level. the rooms are just plain empty and that's a shame. nothing compared to traditions of the trade and las vegas. even paris had something like that with the sheikh.

Rooms
207 and 208
actually have people who are not affiliated with the band in them.

And you do find a surprise of sorts in
207
.

isn't 207 the
roadie with the microphone?
what's in 208?

The actual guest in 207 is
the woman who was banging the roadie - other staff and notes talk about her excessive room service orders
.

The 208 guest is... just some guy. I was accidentally in the bathroom as he entered and had to knock him out.

yes I know about 207,
she is apparently a celebrity according to other guests. still, with the microphone in there and the roadie outfit, definitely a "band" room in my opinion, regardless of who booked the room ;)

and 208 I missed apparently, doesn't sound very exciting, though

It just feels so lazy, even if they didn't want to do interesting and exciting stuff, a least let the guests from the lobby/restaraunts walk up and down to their rooms FFS, just lazy

That's probably true yeah :( A shame considering A New Life is probably the best BM level.
I really hope the last two locations will be more interesting in terms of layout. So far with the exception of Sapienza it's been a little dull unfortunately.

finished Thailand map and reached level 20, it's an improvement over Sapienza and marraksh but still not as good as Paris, as i expected, they made the first mission SO GOOD so you get tricked into buying the whole game and discover it's disappointing, Paris was on bar with Blood money's missions, i was hoping Thailand mission will have a hotel like the one in Hitman 3, but nah, the building doesn't even feel like a hotel

Marrakesh definitely has occupy wall street/ arab spring overtones.

Sapienza is better than Paris, so not really. I'll agree Paris and Sapienza are better than Marrakesh and Thailand.

How do you get the lawyer and manager to meet? There's a place for a note in the reception but I never saw a note.

Also
how do you get the lawyer down into the basement so I can...axe...him some questions?

Question one:
Use the opportunity Bugman.
Question two:
Use the opportunity called The Smoking Gun

btw I'm already at Lvl 17 but when you can reload saves, its pretty simplified.

Im enjoying this game so far but something feels missing. I think its a combination of the darker atmosphere of some of the previous hitman game levels and the lack of Jesper Kyd. The soundtrack just doesn't add to the atmosphere at all like Kyds did. In fact it almost detracts from it to the point where its almost better with the music off.

This is how I feel aswell. They nailed the sandbox gameplay, but it's missing that Hitman atmosphere.

get the 2 targets to meet (I did it with the bugman, don't know if there's another way) jordan will kill francois hollande himself, by pushing him out the window and after that you can immediately push jordan out as well.
suit only not possible that way, though, sadly

I'm enjoying it more probably because I didn't get into the older games until very late and by then even though I loved the gameplay and the overall feel of them, the controls just made it very hard for me to get invested in them. I still have them on my PS3 but now after playing this I think it's going to be even harder to go back.

Agreed.

I'm enjoying the game a hell of a lot more than Absolution, and it will likely be in my top 10 come the end of the year, but it all feels a bit sterile. The bland soundtrack and lack of authentic voice acting contributes to that feeling.

My greatest accomplishment in the game so far.

I have since been beaten, but it was hilarious that a "run up to the Sarajevo target and push him to his death" could actually put me in first place.

I picked this game up a couple weeks ago because the Giant Bomb videos were hysterical and I wanted in on the action.

I've finished all the story missions except Thailand (didn't know it came out yet) and I'm slowly working my way up to level 20 mastery in every location.

After spending about 30 hours with the game I'm pretty confident this is my favorite Hitman game. I love the variety of assassinations in Paris (Lights Out is probably my favorite), Sapienza provided me with the best story to tell (exploding golf ball kill while I was destroying the Virus), Marrakesh (drop the MOOOOSE) while the weakest level I've played ups the challenge a bit with trying to find ways into the school and the consulate. I'm going out of my way to get my first kills with opportunities turned off. I've found this makes the first playthrough way more engaging. Subsequent runs are about completing challenges and earning that mastery.

I botched my first Elusive target in spectacular fashion. I plan on taking the next one out with significantly more care.

Welcome to Hitman, 47.

In regards to season 2, I REALLY hope they get some more varied voice acting. Hearing the same actors on every level with different nationalities is really weird. I also hope they improve the music to be less James Bond. My favorite piece of music in the game is the menu theme which is fantastic but the game needs more epic music.

Also, everyone saying they prefer Paris over this, Paris was great but I like Thailand even more. All of the band stuff is hilarious.

There definitely was an effort to introduce more accents for NPCs in Bangkok... Even if they were all different flavours of British.

Does anyone know where the hell I can get a wrench?

In the basement there's one near a guy fixing a sink in the laundry room and another one in a box next to a shelf in the linen room.

What I find interesting about Thailand is that it has a shortage of 5000 point challenges in favor of a lot of 2500/1000 ones. They really want this to be one that's replayed A LOT instead of just a few times in order to reach Lv20.

47 playing
drums
is one of the best things in the game so far.

I'm really looking forward to the spinoff a few years down the line, Renaissance Man.

Okay been through a couple different kill variations and so far I think I like this better than Paris and Marrakesh. Feels very old school Hitman in style and opportunity.

I didn't purchase the season pass since originally it was only supposed to be a $5 price difference in getting things separately ;p. So do you really need to play all the levels? Marrakesh doesn't sound that interesting to me so I never bought it but I was thinking of still getting Bangkok. I have the base game and Sapienza so far.

I did it, pretty funny. Surprised how long it kept going.

Is there an overarching story that connects these set pieces together? I know at the end of each there is a scene that seems to connect them but maybe I'm just being dense and don't see the link.

There is. The latest mission starts to bring everything together. I love the story in this. It's loose but I'm still interested in knowing what's actually going on.

Marakesh may be the "worst" of the levels but it certainly isn't bad. It's all opinion. The main targets are pretty fun and there is one axe escalation mission that is an absolute must play. Marakesh is worth buying at the very least to see Connie Engstrom. The level has a very different atmosphere to it than any lever so far with tons of crowds and a big marketplace. If you like the game I'd suggest buying every level as they all have something different to offer.

I know I am. "Exotic, sun-bleached locales" is getting old now.

I would like varied, unique locations versus gigantic sandboxes which seem familiar to one another.

I just beat Thailand with a 0 score and the level was pretty, but felt like Marrakesh to me. Sapienza was the only map I really liked and played a lot of. Would like a darker, grittier map as someone else mentioned. Or a circus, something weird.

:)
