HITMAN |OT| Blood Monthly

Felt like speedrunning, taking out the Angel of Death.
There's just enough time to start at the school as a soldier; skip the intro animation; run towards the side of the headmaster's building; wait for the two soldiers to stop chatting; knock the one out next to the drainpipe; climb up the drainpipe and walk to the old hag. There's about a 4 seconds window here to kill her before the two soldier are up the stairs. I managed to push her over the wall for an accidental kill. The timing of everything is so perfect that I'm certain it was intentionally set up.
And now in Video form.

Ok, so I was going to ask why she's being guarded by so many military guys since she's a serial killer, but figured I probably just missed something. I felt like rewatching the video today, and I couldn't find any story reason for her being protected. Is there any dialogue that explains this?

Starting playing Hitman yesterday since I got my new Crucial MX300 SSD. Couldn't play the game before since the game crashed on the first test level and the performance was all over the place. Now it's running very smooth in DX12 on my 970 and not that many bugs so far :)

This game is so good even tough I'm on the Paris level (it's freaking huge!) are the other levels this big or bigger?

I've only done Paris, Sapienza and Marrakesh but yes, the other two are much bigger imo.

She starts out alone at the Headmaster's place, having just killed him and disposed of the body.

Some soldiers arrive to look for the missing Headmaster. She acts clueless, and cons them into escorting her around because she doesn't feel safe due to his "disappearance."

All this happens on one rooftop before she starts actually looping around the level.

Ok, that's an amazing set-up. I'll definitely need to do more than plan and execute SA for future ETs.

Holy cow, I'm still used to the smaller levels in Blood Money and Absolution :O
I think the last two episodes are actually smaller, but because their space isn't spread as vertically, Paris feels like the smallest map of the six. It's really nice to have such big maps, but it's also unfortunate that we're missing the sheer variety of maps as in previous games. My hopes for S2 are that we get a few extra maps, but which are more on the scale of Blood Money's A New Life and redneck wedding.

Just ran through the guided tutorial. A couple questions.

- do you guys switch a lot of the help features off? I've changed the Opportunities to Minimal but what about all the other hints and HUD features?

- will every mission, post completion, show all the challenges that essentially reveal each unique way to eliminate your target? Or is this unique to the prologue? Thought it was quite stupid that it explicitly shows me the various ways

It only shows challenges that you've completed at the end of the level, so no. I'd recommend turning either instinct mode off or npc/target indicators off on the minimap, and opportunities off.

Personally I play a level 2 or 3 times with everything turned off except alert messages and the dots over NPC heads (no hud). Then I'll reintroduce instinct mode or the minimap, and eventually look at the challenges once I've feel like I want more ideas/undiscovered options for kills.

Goddamn. Failed my first elusive target with the angel of death. Was trying to predict her path and set up accidents while dressed as a handyman. I accidentally turn on a power point before rewiring an extension cable. I didn't realize it was off in the first place.

So many people fail elusives because of that. I always try to shoot the extension cables whenever possible to avoid it.

Electrocuting myself is how I fucked up The Chef when I first got the game and had no idea what I was doing. I'll never make that mistake again!

first elusive target, planned accordingly to snipe her, but was stupid enough to not realize that a body will be found... made it, but next time i plan a clean run. neverheless, great mode, love it!

the elusive targets provide quite unique content with additional assets. at some point it would be nice they open up again with some sort of downside, like no suit unlock or something.

Second ET, both successful. After trying to find an opportunity to leave her alone in a room and giving up I just
threw and explosive duck at her on the rooftop, detonated it, and left through the pipe on the back. Distracted the guard in front of her before so I only killed her with the explosion.

Does anyone know how much the physical release is going to cost? Seeing as it's a steelbook, I'm hoping that it doesn't run over $60.

I couldn't find anything on the io site.

First run I started as a waiter with lethal poison, but I followed her for probably ten minutes and never saw her go inside the cafe, so I said "fuck it" and
started on the west rooftop with the sniper rifle, shot her in the head, and walked out

I don't understand why elusive briefings lately have been including misleading pictures of places the targets never go.

For this one, we see her in the cafe; we see her walking under the arch next to the news anchors; and we even see a profile picture of her in the consulate. Those are three places that she specifically never visits.

For #14 we also saw the chef upstairs at the auction, which can never happen.

This after the developers themselves keep emphasizing the importance of using those briefing images to figure out where they go...

I ruined the ET. Went as the soldier and up the roof. She was alone. I could have pushed her, but no, I had to go true 47 style: fibre wire and hide the body. I was too slow. Her guards killed me.

Why didn't I push her?

Fucked up the elusive target, too. And I had the SA rating already in the bag! Got up on the roof as a soldier and pushed her off the building. The guards came up and instead of running back to the pipe, I decide to hide in the crate and wait for the guards to leave. But... they never leave! So i'm sitting there in the stupid box with nowhere to go, contemplating my life choices, wishing i could throw coins or distract them somehow... but there was nothing I could do, so eventually I just got out and the guards gunned me down immediately.

First elusive target that I didn't get, especially now when I need them for the winter suit! feels bad .-.

Eh, just pulled my silverballer and shot her 2-3 times from the roof.

I don't like Marrakesh, so I really don't know much about its opportunities

I just watched a random stream of the elusive and noticed two unexpected things:

- The streamer found a lethal poison vial in the toolbox at the repair shop across from the Headmaster's house. That definitely isn't there normally... but it also seems useless for this mission.
- After searching the level for nearly 2 hours, the streamer finally found the target... back on the Headmaster's rooftop, with one soldier still there but the entrance now unguarded. Did they actually make her loop end after, say, an hour or so if you managed to spend that much time wandering around?

The first was probably a concealed item.

I failed the ET.

And I think it was a bit BS from the game's part. I did it shooting at the cafe's sign with a silence sniper rifle. But despite a) the distance between me and the target, b)the silenced nature of the rifle (WS2000 lookalike) and c) the indirect way I did it (not shooting at the target, or close to her or the guards, but at the sign above, provoking an accident) the guards changed to combat mode instantly and started shooting me.

How were they even in range of you though

I did it with a silenced pistol from almost directly nearby and got out of there before they even knew I was there

Took the sorta easy route for the ET. Since it looked like she goes in the main area I just started on the rooftop with a sniper rifle and scanned the main middle area for like 8-9 minutes hoping she'd come out. Suddenly I see a giant suspicious group of guards emerge from the hookah bar so I pull up my scope and there she is with the group. Just took the easy shot, climbed down and exited the level.

It's funny because at first I was kinda pleasantly surprised by the intro that we were finally getting an unguarded elusive since she's a serial killer. But...then they still find a way to surround her with guards -_-
I thought maybe because of the serial killer angle they were doing something really creative with this one, like she'd be alone but she'd be out trying to hunt you and kill you when you're not looking (would be kinda of exciting, since death would be permanent). Thought that would be a nice change up from a target just surrounded by a bunch of bodyguards, but nope just a target surrounded by a bunch of bodyguards. I know we've been through this and the argument is that without bodyguards ET would be too easy because you can just lure them to an alley, kill them and leave. But is that really any less fun than a target that walks the level surrounded by bodyguards that you just distract with coins or find the one piece of food/drink the target goes to and then make them sick and take them out in a bathroom? Just would be nice to mix up the setups even if it might make them easier (easier is probably better around now/January when a lot of newcomers are coming into the game; those first couple of Elusives back at launch were much easier than the elusives these days).

Killed the ET but didn't do anything fancy. Just sniped from the rooftop starting point.

Problem is, they somehow noticed me and I immediately went to the hunted state. Even though I was all the way up there and obscured from view. On top of that, the lady sitting on the rooftop was hostile to me now whereas every other time I've started in that location she was cool with me being there - I sniped Strandberg while going through challenges last weekend and she didn't bat an eye. I wasn't expecting that and she saw me hiding in a murder-box, so I had to quickly jump out and wrench her in the head. She ended up on the stairs right as a soldier was coming up. Soldier woke her up, I hid back in the box and everybody reset. I was able to KO her and steal the shopkeeper disguise from downstairs, then made it out safe. At least I unlocked the white suit with gloves which is pretty cool looking.

Finally got my first elusive target kill (I've only attempted 2). I was able to stash the sniper rifle on the rooftop and go straight for it. Only had to wait a few minutes for the old lady to walk through the market. Shot her in the face and proceeded to the exit directly below me. Very easy!

Just cleared Dr. Death - Last Straw, featured contract.
I barely escaped the kitchen area undetected. Apricot saved me on that one.
Never again.

EDGE reviewed the complete edition in the latest issue and gave it a nine. Good stuff.

That's awesome.

This game is amazing and one of the best of 2016. I've never really invested in a Hitman game before, sure I've played a few past entries but after the praise this received I decided to jump in blind. One of my favourite games this year. It's just so, so good and I recommend anyone play this whether you're a Hitman fan or not. I honestly knew nothing about Hitman and this game is great.

I'm really liking this game as a change of pace from more chaotic games like TF2.

It feels slower-paced and strategic, you need to plan, pay attention to your surroundings and new information you overhear, and adjust to go unnoticed.

It's what I expected from Absolution (my first Hitman game) but the disguise mechanic, saves, and gameplay are much improved.

Hitman feels like a puzzle game to me. I love puzzle games.

Me too. It's why Absolution was such a disappointment to me. I gave up on about half of the levels and shot my way through just to get on to the levels that I sort of liked. And even then the disguise system felt way too sensitive and I didn't get the sense of blending in and hiding in plain sight that Blood Money and this game have given me. It seemed like they designed it for more traditional stealth action.

I thought once you attempted the elusive target you couldn't try again? How are you guys restarting it?

You cannot retry if you die or if you have killed the target or complete any other mission objective but before you do any of that you can retry or replan the mission as much as you want.

As long as you don't complete any of the objectives or die you can restart. You should scout elusive targets and see what they do then restart with the equipment you might need.

I managed to reset about half a second before screwing up Angel of Death.

I snuck up behind her by going up the drain pipe and stuck her with the lethal syringe but a guard spotted me doing it, I managed to restart before the syringe actually killed her though. Would have been screwed otherwise.

This is the first Elusive Target I've experienced, it's my understanding you get one chance to do it and if you fuck up you can't restart or attempt it again. Yet I see people saying they tried it 4-5 times here before completing it correctly. What's the story?

You can restart it before you either leave the mission or die. If you fuck up and get caught and manage to hit restart you can do it again, if you just werent satisfied with how you did it you can do it again.

You're allowed to restart at any time up until you die or complete any objective. So you can plan out a course of action and stalk the target all over the place without worrying, but once you commit, that's it.

I did this one by setting up a scooter explosion (just missed SA because I whiffed my first shot), but I never found out where the target started until I watched people do it afterwards.
