Horizon: Call Of The Mountain (PSVR2) to be featured at the State of Play Tomorrow

I don't think that's what's being said - it's just that if a game has graphics comparable to say a ps3 game in VR it looks as impressive as a Ps4 game in the headset because of how close you are to everything - at least that's been my experience. It just makes graphics look very different than playing on a flat screen so it bumps up what we consider good. I've been playing VR since 2020 - for example Boneworks looks like shit in videos but in VR actually looks pretty awesome
Yeah that's what i meant with immersion factor that make looks everything better.

Being close in theory let you notice the flaws even more, but because you are inside the game, the flaws become less important.

Yeah I thought that as well before I did it but yeah I guess that's immersion factor I can't see those details on the regular screen usually so when I'm up close seeing them I appreciate them a lot more

Just think through where the sensors are and what that would look like. If you had full sleeves of sensors then it could work. If it only knows where your hands are, then your arms will be these super distracting sticks floating in the air that bend and contort in unnatural ways and looks horrible lol.
It doesn't need to know where your arms are. Only the characters. If you can animate the hands you can figure out the arms. But as mentioned it probably is difficult to get it to look correct. The player may clip into the camera.

What i hate more about modern vr that is not yet fixed:

relatively low resolution compared to 4k (but i'm not aware of psvr2 resolution)
fish-net effect (not sure if it's the right name, but you get the gist)

When they are gonna completely solve these, the graphic is gonna look even better.

It's a good thing that I didn't say it was a consensus opinion

So then what makes you think you're qualified to speak to the entire gaming market's sentiments towards wearing a VR headset?

Either you have knowledge of the consensus of gaming public opinion, or you don't and you think your personal view == that of every other gamer.

You do take personal prediction on markets very seriously it seems.

I didn't say that my personal view was the view of every gamer because i don't have that data. I think we might also be miscommunicating around the definition of 'gaming public opinion'.

Isn't unattached floating hands early VR shit?
We're still in the early VR era unfortunately, I'm trying to remember what else I've played besides Skyrim that show the player avatar. But this is Sony 1st party for nextgen VR, I think it's fair to expect more.

I'm confused. I asked you to give a reason why you thought AR would be bigger than VR in future and your answer was that "people" didn't like gaming while wearing something on their head.

Your reference to "people" was clearly intended to refer to more than just yourself. As otherwise, it would have made your reasoning entirely incoherent.... i.e. "AR will be more successful because I personally don't like this aspect of VR,"... you see? Doesn't make sense.

My comment was an opinion and not a statement on consumer behaviour and preferences.

I opined that people don't like restrictive devices on their head.

I didn't state that people don't like restrictive devices on their head.

I think it's a part of why only a stupidly small percent of UK consumers own a VR headset. Obviously the lack of a killer app could be one. Again this is just an opinion that could be wrong based off incorrect perceptions . If so, ehh.

I gotta say that looked the fucking bomb, the detail and scene complexity is off the charts in comparison to PSVR1, knowing how well Sony does VR this game is gonna be something else, the sheer scale of the landscape and those incredible Dino's are gonna look immense in VR, nothing comes close to a proper VR experience, playing resi7 in 2D or VR is night and day, cannot wait to check this out

PSVR2 has equivalent to 4K screens, but the clarity will be less than that due to the much higher field of view compared to a TV. Still, it will look much better than the PSVR1, which is only 1080 divided for both eyes.

Wut?... Eh?

Disappointed tbh. Game looks worse than HZD on PS4 and doesnt seem to bringing anything new to the series. Feels like first person Horizon. The 90-120 fps target was always going to limit what they can do with the new CPU in the PS5, but I was hoping for more.

It would be FPS Horizon if it was played on a screen with a dualsense, but thankfully the sense of scale and interactions only possible in VR make it a completely different experience.

just the regular game but in VR would have been preferrable, but i bet this will still kick ass. i was told doom vfr wasnt worth it as it was its own thing and not the actual dfoom game, but i picked it up for $5 the other week and its fun as hell! plus it came with 12 OG doom 1 and 2 levels that ive been having a blast with.

everything in VR is just so much better and more fun. and if the video they are showing of it really looks that good, its going to be awesome.
