What i would change :

Horizon:

- Better CQC combat
- Better environment interaction
- Better Water Reflections
- Revamped Stealth

Ghost of Tsushima:

- Better Shadows
- Lock On System would be great
- Better Animations would also be dope
- Better Enemy AI

I liked GoT more.

Maybe because I wasnt expecting HZD to be more of an RPG. I've went away from those over the years.

Only thing I can think of to make HZD better is up close animations, facial animations. After playing God of War, I was shocked many kept saying HZD was the better looking game.

As much as I liked GoT the next one should be more deep. Should have more RPG elements and more samurai life sim.

I Love Horizon Zero Dawn, but the Human AI is so shit I can't believe they actually ignored that.

So, GoT get better in that departament.

edit: Horizon Zero Dawn have the melee combat crap as well.

Ghost is GOTY. Horizon is fine, I am hyped for the sequel.... But that's it.

Ghost:

Coop open world exploration mode, with enemy bases randomly generated to capture with epic battles.
Character creation on coop.
Better AI.

Horizon:

No human enemies.
Less collectables.
Less talking.
Less AC style open world.
More weapons.

For me, Ghost of Tsushima, and it's not even close.

I liked HZD, it was a good game, but I LOVE Ghost. I think it is amazing. One of my favorite plat trophies.

Ghost easily. But I like both of them.

What I would like to see in the ghost sequel is a more fleshed out world, most NPC's were just bland background filler, and there weren't many of them. I would like to see some larger settlements or cities. I would also like a lock on system for the combat, the combat was incredible and it would've been near perfect if you could lock on enemies.

Horizon Zero Dawn
Amazing enemy design, lore is strong, lovely old school gameplay in a modern setting, awesome traps, so so beautiful world, and Aloy may be boring in dialogue but is still interesting as a protagonist.
Can't wait to play Forbidden West!

I liked GoT more, but I am biased as I love Japanese culture. Both were great games. Just felt cooler to be a samurai.

GoT by a million miles. Horizon is Sony's most overrated IP. Combat was so poor.

tough call. both great at the combat systems they made. Horizon ZD has more depth to the plot but Tsushima has better character arcs.

IMOO Tsushima edges it out for the better art direction. simply the most beautiful open world game yet.

Horizon.

They're both open world collect-a-thons but I loved Horizons story much much better and the ability to generate quest to get animal/plant resources respected my time as a player and kept me engaged by not having to stop, check a FAQ for location's on things like in ghost so I'm going with that. This should be a feature in ALL of these kinds of games.

Ghost of Tsushima has the better overall gameplay. It does a good job balancing melee combat (i.e. combat stances, parrying, Heavenly Strike, etc.) and ranged combat (i.e. half-bow, longbow, bombs, kunai, etc.). Horizon has a plethora of choices when it comes to ranged combat, but melee is absolute garbage.

I don't know what's the big deal about Horizon. It's like a mix of Zelda, Monster Hunter and Tomb Raider but million times worse + expensive graphics (which aren't as artistic anyway). Cliche story, bad characters and character design, mediocre fantasy (everyone looks too realistic). Not sure what the hype is about.

That said, I can see a lot of faults in Tsushima despite liking it. That's probably what happened with Horizon - if you can relate to it, the negatives don't matter.

HZD, but not by a wide margin as bit are high on my games of the generation list. The setting and story in HZD was more compelling to me (never much interested in samurai stuff) and I loved the combat with all the traps and weapons.

My only complaint with GoT is how inconsistent the graphics were - sometimes amazing, sometimes very mediocre. They took the Ubisoft formula and stripped out all the crap and refined the bits they did keep and it left a great game. Just been playing some Valhalla and the combat in GoT is a million times better and more satisfying even though it is really pretty simple.

Horizon looked and played great but I was so bored and uninvested that I put it down and never picked it up again until this year. Will probably not bother finishing it.

Horizon but it's close regardless.

I just enjoyed the enemies and combat loop a bit more than Tsushima.

Horizon Zero Dawn but it's close. Like 1A and 1B. Loved both games. Can't wait for Horizon 2 and hopefully Tsushima 2 on PS5!!!

Ghost, but I really enjoyed the world and setting of HZD. The gameplay just never clicked with me and it felt clunky right up to the end.

I vastly prefer Ghost of Tsushima, the bow actually felt like I'm actually using bow. With that being said I felt like both games hugely suffer from too much copy & paste busy work.

Death stranding:messenger_fire:

More seriously, haven't played either (played a bit of HZD but thats it), but if given the choice to play one of them, i would pick GoT.

GoT combat was miles better than Horizon

And it also had a world worth exploring. Horizon's world is all window dressing.

I need to get back into Horizon and see if it sticks because when I tried it at launch there were too many games that I had competing with it so it got left out (I could have waited on getting it.) I have been playing Ghost a lot lately and I have to say it is a very fun game to play. Sucker Punch nailed it.

Honestly I was okay with there not being a lock on system. I don't think the game needs it but if we can have it how it currently is and a lock on system on top of that then I won't mind the option.

I haven't played the game but I'm guessing it has better sense of exploration because there is actual mechanic behind its traversal.
More or less. You don't really explore the world in the sense of "seeing stuff" like people do in games such as RDR2, aimless wandering around looking for interesting things, theres nothing to see aside from whats essential to the core game design after all.

However, its true the traversal mechanics are far more developed than in other open world games (its the core of the game after all). Getting from A to B while keeping the cargo safe always require a mix of planning, understanding the routes, understanding the game mechanics and just a bit of good judgement and skill. If you just so much as fall over or get carried by the current in a river you'll be putting the cargo at risk of being damaged or destroyed, so you always need to be careful.

For example, if you need to traverse a mountainous region, you'll need the proper equipment like ladders and climbing anchors, and it might not be a good idea to bring vehicles since there isn't always a proper path for them in such regions (especially if there are BTs in the region), which might also mean you'll have to carry a lot of cargo on your back if its a heavy load, which in turn increases the risk of you falling over and damaging cargo. You get the idea.

horizon i played day one when it was released and its so good looking game without any bugs or bad things.. its just so good. and now tsushima i didint even bought and played because i saw it as AC game but in samurai times. nothing special there very similar animations or gameplay to other AC games for me. someday i will play it when it will be on sale i guess. and i bought valhalla game day one, but not tsushima.

Yes, lock on optional. It didn't need it when encountering groups of enemies, but I felt like it really could've helped in Duels. I loved the Duels though regardless.

Ghost in almost every single aspect.....! Horizon was decent for it's time but hasn't aged well as an open world game.

Ghost, on the other hand, pushed the boundaries of the genre forward, making it painful to go back to Horizon or any bloated Ubisoft open world game.....

I loved them both but IMO GoT doesn't hold a candle to Horizon Zero Dawn's world, lore and originality. I guess it's personal preferences but with an established (historical) setting there just isn't the element of surprise and wonder that HZD had going for it. The machines, ruins, lore, tribes - it was all so fresh. Also something they can dive deeper into with a couple of games - while I don't really see the appeal for a GoT sequel.

Horizon had great lore and combat, but its presentation was so bland as to negate both. Every quest is similar, every side quest is a chore, and every character looks like a mannequin.

Hard choice for me as I loved both. Id give it to Ghost of Tsushima though.

Main Story and Character - Ghost of Tsushima

Lore and Idea - Horizon had A great concept for a world and how it got there, better than most sci fi Movies for me. Unique setting and one of my favourites

Combat - Tie But probably Ghosts - Horizon was very awesome for me. A unique 3rd person shooter. It wasnt the typical, Uncharted, Gears of war over the shoulder shooter. You had strategy and all sorts plus the enemies were unique and different to any other game.
Melee was crap though.
Ghosts on the other hand has my favourite Melee combat, 2nd to Sekiro, maybe joint top spot.

Music: Open world music went to Horizon, but Combat and dramatic bits go to Ghosts

Characters, NPC and Side Quests: Ghosts of Tsushima easily. Can barely remember anyone from Horizon apart from the guy that looked like Shamus from WWE and Sylens? the friend turned bad guy.

Graphics: Oooh, Maybe a tie but probably Ghosts. Ghosts has amazing foliage and the island is Gorgeous. Horizon probably had better looking faces. Horizon landscapes and areas were easier to remember for me

New game +: With Multiplayer, the ongoing add ons and raid, id have to give it to Ghost of Tsushima

Ps: My loyal friend Nobu.... Ill always remember you ( the horse )
