Ghost of Tsushima got my vote as I personally couldn't get into Horizon Zero Dawn and dropped the game sometime after the prologue as I felt no motivation to continue. I also consider Ghost of Tsushima to be the GOTY since it has a more compelling story and stunning visuals. Then there's a fact that I generally don't like Science Fiction (there's obviously exceptions) and love history, so Ghost of Tsushima hits closer to home even if isn't historically accurate.

I played Horizon just after I finished Breath of the Wild, and the lack of free climbing made the game really frustrating. Having to rely on shiny ledges and platforms is an Uncharted esque outdated formula, so I hope that in the sequel they get completely rid of that. I'm currently playing Genshin Impact, and being able to go anywhere your stamina allows you, is a breath of fresh air.

Ghost of Tsushima on the other hand was an unexpected surprised. I had really low expectations since the marketing of the game was really bad, not even showing real gameplay until the very last minute before release. Also, being the developers of Infamous, did not gave me a lot of confidence when it comes to a game about a historical Japan setting. The game play was really good, and the vistas were really beatiful. Definitely my Goty.

I loved both titles, but Ghost is probably my game of the generation so there's no harm in coming short of that. Loved everything about HZD though.

Horizon has better combat/more challenge

Ghost of Tsushima. Adored the game.
Horizon's combat really fell flat for me.
A livelier open world with more to do in both games wouldn't hurt.

Haven't played Ghost of Tsushima but my hopes for Horizon Forbidden West are...

- More gameplay variety when encountering dinos.

- More strategic + tactical choices to make before and during combat.

- Make failure a more interesting and rewarding outcome than "Restart at last checkpoint".

By far Ghost of Tsushima. It can be felt all-around that Sucker Punch put effort into making the game to be immersive and artistically refreshing. Meanwhile the gameplay is also fun, a rare combination in video games.

H:ZD is very limited in many ways. Guerilla Games just overpopulated the world with enemies, which feels cheap and very annoying when you want only to explore the world. The main reason for me simply playing the game on the easiest difficulty. Then the scale of the world in the game felt small, very small.

Both had terrible open worlds and would be much, MUCH better if they were wide-linear ala God of War and Last of Us.

They quality gap between GOW/TLOU 2 and Ghosts/Horizon is MASSIVE.

I prefer horizon zero dawn as it's combat is much better for me. I enjoyed that world a lot. I've platinumed both games and even though they're both pretty much standard open world games I've had more fun in hzd.

GOT is the better game for me combat is a poor mans From Software but looked great with terrible AI.

GOT 8/10 ,HZD 7/10 at best both flawed games.

HZD's camera floats from one side to the other randomly while traversing. For that alone it's a terrible game for me.
I think the design of these two games is similar, with GoT being drastically better at all of it.

Exploration: GoT >>> HZD
-no HUD
-better landscapes
-more responsive

Combat: GoT >>> HZD
-combat in GoT is fun even when it's easy due to how satisfying and cinematic it is
-mixture of stealth, ranged, tools and close combat is superior to HZD's better traps, same ranged and much worse melee

Story: GoT = HZD
-both mediocre

I can't think of anything HZD does better. Naturally, games are more than the sum of their parts, and we all experience them holistically, but even then I can't help but be repulsed by HZD's robot dinosaurs, tasteless writing and washed out visuals.

I need to see what all this Ghost of Tsushima is all about, the way its talked about here, you'd think it was Game of the Year! :messenger_grinning_smiling::messenger_grinning_smiling: (That being said I also need to check Horizion Z.D)

Ghost of Tsushima by a mile. It may be the best PS4 game (not my personal favorite) but HZD I couldn't even finish.
