Horizon Zero Dawn Is Now Being Adapted Into A Movie Instead Of A Netflix TV Series, Confirms Sony

There were issues with the Netflix show runner, so looks like they opted to go in a different direction here

Wouldn't be surprised if they also do an animated TV series eventually to offer a more fleshed out telling of the story

That's a better option. I still think they should have gone all-out with Arcane-type animation, instead of making it a relatively less-ambitious live-action film. The CGI budget alone would go crazy.

But a movie is still better than a TV series in this case.

Now, just case Sadie Sink as Aloy!

It's Aloyin time!

Get Reyn's phrase out yo damn mouf!

Why does Sony think people give a shit about this franchise?

Easily the most boring Sony IP in the history of PlayStation.

Yeah I know, but goddamn is it shit.

It's funny, it sold well, but I've never met a person who likes it. I don't know what to make of that.
The game world is nice to look at and the tech is impressive but I can't remember any character name or interaction and I did all sidequests in both games.

Go figure.

Graphics sell I guess.

I bought the first one years ago just to look at it lol. Played for about a half hour, "oooohhhh, aaaahhhh", turned that shit off and never touched it again.

Boring and beautiful.

I have low expectations for this movie, especially since it'll likely go direct to Netflix.

That said, I'm one of the few people who enjoyed The Electric State.

Can't wait to see the casting for this woke bullshit flop. Honestly, Sony, stop trying to make Horizon a thing. You fucked it up. The next game gonna be a flop too. Everybody knows.

It has the right elements to becoming a hit.

- Interesting setting

- Cool dinobots

- Good art direction

- A redhead outcast

It's tragic they failed to make something interesting with such a promising premise. Avatar is a fair comparison.

I like this better. I have low expectations still but this is better than turning it into a TV series.

Good to hear. HZD needs a bigger budget than a TV show could provide.

Somewhat disagree. Aloy(and the audience) slowly discovering how the world ended, how Sobeck saved it, and how Faro fucked over everyone, involved almost destroying humanity's chance at coming back deserves more than a 2 hour movie. Imagine if every 1 hour episode opened with 10 minutes in the past.

Also, TV is expensive these days. Shows like House of the Dragon, Loki, Severance are over $20m/episode. This is going to be so CG heavy, it's going to be expensive no matter which medium they choose.

First it got a Lego game, now it's getting a feature film. That's when you know this series has a cultural impact, up there with Mario and Sonic.

They should just use Hannah Hoekstra, the mocap actress.

She obviously looks the part and is prettier than the character the developers created.
