Horizon Zero Dawn - Preview Thread [Up: All Previews Live]

So, about that texture downgrade /s

Still nothing convincing about arboreal density either.

Pre-order cancelled, remade and cancelled again.

This is sort of a consequence of not creating proper jump physics. If you try to Jump normally in Uncharted for example, you get a similar but slightly less awkward jump.

Noted. It does seem weird at first seeing Aloy jump from running forward. Its like if Assassin's Creed retained the same jump animation while standing still to jumping during movement.

I just watched the EZA preview. It's overall positive but it also highlights a lot gameplay elements that I just don't enjoy anymore. Collecting endless junk then crafting, exp based progression trees, ubi-towers etc. It is doing certain new things but not in a way I find appealing. I still think the premise of the game is fantastic and it will most likely be a solid game but it's no longer a priority game for me.

You guys probably don't know either...but can I heal/repair the mounts? In one of the vids I felt so bad for it helping Aloy out in battle only to get ripped apart. :(

"Looks pretty generic."

Yeah, I don't get this. The game is actually still stylized and vibrant. The mixture of mechanical beings and untouched nature is imo also pretty interesting and unique too.

Since they first revealed it, I think the game looks incredible and I'm trying not to get too hyped (just in case) but all these positive previews are not helping lol it looks like it's going to be a really solid game, if not bloody brilliant, really cannot wait to get my hands on the full game now, it seems like they have done a fantastic job moving from Killzone to this new IP.

Feels like Guerrilla Games is always behind the curve, like this game aligns more with the trends of 2015.

Also -- saw some of the preview footage and the lighting in dialogue scenes really bothered me, it felt like unnatural stage lighting was being used and made the whole thing seem really fake and off.

Im so glad this doesnt have something like camera wobble giving me a headache just for walking around or effects like CA ruining the gorgeous graphics

The new worrying trend that could be add to the bingo card.

WTF. Is this the new corridor racing?

This video reaffirms my feelings that this game should give an option for gyro controls to fine tune shots. Aiming controls seem to make the game harder than it should be.

GG did that with KZ mercs on the vita didnt they? I Remember gyro aiming being a lifesaver in that game.

the lighting in dialogue scenes are dynamic. you can enter the same scenes whether it's at night or at daytime, or if it rains etc...

Really excited to play this game. I mean you cant go wrong with Dino Robots. Is this a fairly hardcore rpg like witcher though ? (as in gear sets, inventory management, incumbance e.t.c)

I am not a hardcore rpg guy, so hoping its fairly light in the crafting / inventory side e.t.c

Light/Streamline on RPG, heavy on combat, my take from previews.

GG want to make it accessible for player like you. so it's pretty simple. I don't think there's inventory management and incumbrance. even the gear is not separated into parts like body/head/leg etc but just 1 simple armor set that have slot you can put upgrades in.

you do need to craft your arrow/traps/bombs etc. but it's been simplified that as long as you have the material, you can craft ammo straight from the weapon wheel

I don't mind that it's not that dark it's just so excessively green. why is it so green at night?

Maybe just a saturation/color filter thing to fake proper nighttime in the absence of global illumination, or something, while still providing somewhat decent visibility.*

*guess from my ass

About the night thing - it looks pretty normal for when there is a full moon. It looks amazing with all the fog too. Some nitpicking going on here.

Watched the PS Access and Kinda Funny videos and I think I have seen enough. PSPro or nothing for this game.

Nobody talking about the melee combat? Some nice finishing animations there.

Expect the Witcher > get disappointed

Expect a great-looking well-made action game with RPG elements of varying quality > good times for all

Expect this to score better than BOTW > get real
but who knows?

It looks fantastic on standard PS4 at 1080p and stunning on PS4 Pro at 2160c. With how detailed the graphics look and the big open world, I'm surprised they got it running with such a high checkerboard resolution, when smaller games have gone for less demanding resolutions like 1440p or between 1600c-1800c. Seems like this is the first game to be built from the ground up, with Pro in mind and really takes advantage of it.
