See, all of those movies are remakes. That's the problem with horror and why most are losing interest in the genre. The last decent horror movie I saw was Insidious and that was over a year ago.

I feel like I'm at that point where I've seen every single good (and bad) horror movie that has ever come out ever. It's my favourite genre but I've maxed it out!

I enjoyed Sinister quite a bit. That came out not too long ago.

Anyway, I just came back from seeing The Collection, and while the kills were pretty fun at times, the antagonist didn't really do anything for me -- he just wasn't scary or menacing to me at all. Not to mention that the movie wasn't very believable at all, even by horror standards. I just can't buy how one man with no superhuman powers can successfully kill and capture hundreds of people with only one person managing to escape and nobody managing to kill him or at the very least rush him and beat the shit out/subdue him.

I'll give it a 3/5 though because it's one of the slightly better horror films to come out in the last few years.

Halloween (1978) remains my all-time favorite horror, followed by Suspiria (1977), with The Devils Rejects (2005) rounding out the top three. Of course, you could argue that Rejects is about 5 genres of film and none of them horror, but whatever.

I recently bought the soundtrack, so simple yet so powerful.

The theme will haunt me forever.

Also I watch the first one every Halloween.

The sequel is alright.

Both. Saw it in theatres so US first. Original ending is way better and the one i judge the movie by.

EDIT: I would like to recommend Horroretc podcast as a great source for anything horror. I've been listening to them for years and they always have something new to recommend.

Not really looking forward to any horror films currently. Been making my way through some films that are new and old for me on amazon prime.

-Blair Witch Project
-Killer Klowns From Outer Space
-Crawlspace
-Candyman
-Demonic Toys
-Puppetmaster
-Leprechaun in the Hood (though, that's scary for entirely different reasons)
-Serial Rabbit 3: Splitting Hares (don't watch this...)



Favorite horror movie of all time is the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Just great.

I have The Beyond (1981) and Phase IV still left over from 31 days of horror.

As for next year, I'm looking forward to Mama.

Yeah, it had some nice references to other horror flicks though.

I have an independent study right now on horror movies so I've been watching a lot lately. Recently watched Burnt Offerings which was really weird but had great acting.

Another good one is The Stepfather. Terry O'Quinn was awesome in it (surprise).

I watched Grave Encounters 2. Such a weird sequel. The first Act is boring as hell. The second Act, when they get to the haunted place, is just as good as the first one. Then in Act 3, the movie becomes bat shit insane.

I really enjoyed Pontypool (2008). It's a pretty tense horror thriller that takes place almost entirely at a radio station. They are just doing their normal show, and slowly strange reports start to come in over the evening. It was very interesting and quite creepy because a lot of the stuff happening isn't actually shown on screen. Worth watching, and it's on Netflix streaming too.

I am gonna watch The Hole (2009) tonight as it's a horror movie on Netflix streaming I have never heard of before. Also directed by Joe Dante of Gremlin's fame. Might be fun.

Oh, Grave Encounters sounds really good. Might end up doing that tonight instead.

Bring on the Hellraiser remake i am ready for it,
the pinhead rough sketches, i saw didn't really do it for me, i will still watch it, but at this point if and when it gets made with the cooperation of Clive it will probably look different

i still haven't attempted to watch the thing 2011 dvd i have yet, it's still in the wrapper, am worried of a bad let down

grave encounters is fantastic, grave encounters 2 is miserable.

i recently rewatched the descent and that movie always "leaves" something with me after it's over. good stuff.

Black Christmas holds up pretty well. The original slasher film from 74 (yeah yeah Psycho whatever)

good for a holiday viewing.

Grave Encounters looks wicked though. Wondering why I haven't seen anything on it before. Insta-que here I come!

Grave Encounters is gonna be watched right now. Pretty stoked just from glancing over some reviews here and there. My personal favorite horror film of all time is Session 9, so this sounds right up my alley.

This genre pisses me off sometimes because very little of it is actually scary to me. I just saw a tralier popup the other day for a sequel to The Collector. A sequel to the worst horror movie I have ever seen in my life? Yeah, between that and the sequel overflow the horror genre is hard to enjoy sometimes.
