Baskin
Effects, blood, macabreness, style, music = all great.
Narrative = Terrible.

Can someone explain to me:
1.
Who, what and why the cult was?
2.
What kind of role the dream sequences had?
3.
The point of it being a loop?
4.
How he got the key from the dream sequence into the real world?
5.
The point of the story about his dead friend?
6.
The whole point of the movie?

I am not against having philosophical gore movie (Martyrs is for example on of the best horrors of modern times), but I would wish they at least explained the fundamentals of the plot. This one doesn't do anything.

I'm sure this is an unpopular opinion, but Savini's 90s remake of Night of The Living Dead is better than the original.

The only thing that bugs me about the movie is that they basically do everything you shouldn't do in this situation, and there's like 5 of them hiding from a single zombie. 😆

There was basically no logic to any of it. It was very surreal and non-sensical. Traditional narratives can get boring, this was different and I liked it.
The cult's purpose was to prepare people for hell iirc. Interpret that however you want but I believe that's what the cult leader said

Anyone seen The Wailing/Train to Busan? Really wanna watch Train to Busan but can't find it anywhere, while the wailing came up on ads and has 100% RT. Trying to get in the halloween spirit!

Seems like I need to see Baskin in the next time, have it now for a couple of months on my shelf.

It aged way better. Dont forget, the original is from the 60s. Still, I prefer some aspects of the original, like the banter in the group. Doesnt come near Day or Dawn, tho.

I feel like Baskin was the beginning of a great horror film. It just needed a good ending.

Edit: saw Don't Breathe yesterday and loved it. Not perfect but I really dug it. Some aspects were shitty like the chick is a smoker so you'd think blind dude would have noticed the ash tray smell but he didn't. Then their bumbling through the place like bulls through a china shop but he can't hear it. Seemed like more could have been done with noise like that big ass boss in the first Gears of War that keyed in on sounds. I liked the twist the old man had. That was very cool in that it was different. I loved the pitch black scenes. Typically you get dark scenes and can't see shit. Here there was some high gamma so it was like pulling the veil back so you could see but they couldn't.

More of the same with the sequel, It feels like a by-the-numbers well-produced Wan film, with a few more blemishes versus the first film.

Ended up being a tad more intriguing than the first for me, still just ok but i had definetely more fun

Anyway, currently watching this for the first time

Never bothered with many sequels for these kind of movies but this seems legit so far

Never understood the love for this movie. I totally understand what Craven was saying with it but I just thought it was poorly executed and it never rose above any of the better sequels which just made it come off looking worse.

watching it after watching Scream gave me a different perspective, because it was pretty much the same concept except one of them was done right. It's not bad, it's just not as well executed as Scream was

But if that was the case -
why were to cops going to hell?

Pretty much this.

I would genuinely like to see Night get another go, but this time in a 1 hour limited series. The characters need some fleshing out. They pack a lot of rushed character development in that one movie.

Yes! I want more of the relationship between Barbara and Johnny.

Just finished my first viewing of this:

I put Cannibal Ferox on my Halloween list so I figured I'd better knock out the original first. I am going to say that this is a very well made movie that I can definitely see as a classic but can also see why its not well received given the content. I would say this is a must see for a horror fan but you have to go into this expecting what it throws your way because this isn't really a fun movie. It's pretty fucked up and I feel like Green Inferno was almost a parody by comparison. Can't say I'd ever revisit this but it was well worth the hype it gets.

Yup, Scream pulled it off much better.

I have no idea. Maybe there was no reason.
There were just too many questions unanswered by the movie. The BBQ in the parking light, the dreams, the frogs, the car accident. It was just a bizarre surreal horror movie... no logic

hanging out with my best friends for our annual horror movie marathon. I want to bring something that will absolutely make us flip the fuck out and was thinking A Serbian Film. I've never seen it and they haven't either (which is unusual), but I want to know if it's actually any good. Has anyone seen it?

It's not good. Even the shock factor is diminished by its descent into downright cartoony violence.

Reviewed The Wailing some pages back. It's not only the best horror film of 2016, but one of the best horror films EVER.

Train to Busan and The Wailing rapidly became my most anticipated movies in a while, hoping it won't take long to find em

The Wailing is up on VOD services like iTunes and VUDU already, so there's that. Given that it's being distributed by Well Go USA, it will probably be up on Netflix by the end of the year.

Uhm i have a US account that i created for Pkmn GO on Itunes, gonna try that, cheers!

Now that is real horror!

What the fuck did i just watch

What was the fuckin point of this movie, i'm frustrated

The film has such an odd tone that I assume it was an accident on part of the director. There's not many films like it.

Back to Bride of Chucky. Alexis Arquette, who played Damien at the beginning of the movie, just passed away. That character contributed to some of the best moments in the movie.

Ugh, Sleepaway Camp. It may be a noteworthy film in the horror canon, but I cannot get past the dated and extraordinarily
transphobic
premise.

The same goes for
Dressed to Kill
.

Shit, okay lol. Time to watch it this week/next weekend then.

@Ridley, any news on Train to Busan coming out any time soon?

It looks like it's still in the middle of its theatrical run, so it's probably going to be another month yet before it shows up on VOD. That's more an educated guess than anything scientific, though.

It's a shocker alright. Not sure how to qualify good here.

I thought it was a tasteless gore-film with minor, skin-deep commentary on porn and desensitization. Go watch Martyrs or Inside instead.

Sleepaway Camp 2 is awesome too!

Better than the original IMO. Also the babysitter being Rachel Nichols from Continuum and The Inside.

Agreed. The original wasn't that great, but the sequel/prequel Amityville II: The Possession is one of my favorites from the 80's.

I liked it. Decent remake.

Ryan was great, and it stars a very young Chloë Grace Moretz.

If you want to see a good horror comedy with him in it, I recommend to watch this:
