Hot Shots PSP Multiplayer - OMG teh awesome.

Sure, its not much different from any of the other titles but man it works so well. I mean nothing about it is hard to set up. It'd be nice if it was infastructure but oh well. Castellan beat me 2 outta 3 games tonight. Im a HSG N00b.

The best games are the long running ties with lots of impressive shots.

i wont be satisfied with my putting skillz until i can get the ball in the farthest hole in that putting mode

i think my farthest putt so far is around 40 ft (during a tournament)

Haha I got a few holes cause he got distracted too easy by my mashing the taunts in random order. Then there were a lot of "Throws PSP in microwave" jokes whenever we lost putts for bullshit reasons.

Or who can forget the sarcastic congrats on bad shots.

i'd just like to "chip in" as to how fantastic this game is.

Once you click as to how the putting works, it becomes fantastic.

The 1 player mode lacks variety, but the multiplayer (especially with 4 players) is just stupidly fun.

Yes, that match rocked you drinky ha ha ha!

But yeah, keeping the game even with those insane putts was fucking awesome. Multiplayer is where the game shines, but the single player is fucking awesome too!

I have the game, love it. But...

In a 4 player game, do you have to sit around 75% of the time watching other people take their shots? If so, I'm afraid I'm not interested in multi. We used to play MG64 and Tiger Woods all the time 4P and after a while, waiting on everybody else to take their shots got really old. I had always hoped that with an online game, or a portable one, that people could play the same hole at the same time. You'd be able to see where they were and what their shot was doing from your perspective, but it wouldn't interrupt your own play unless you *wanted* to watch.

I wish I had more friends with a PSP. Even most peeps I know at EB don't have a PSP. The one that does only has Lumines.

you only have to watch the other player swing if it is a 1vs1 match type game.

and yes HSG is awsome!

p.s. if you don't know anybody with it to play multi - get on Xlink kai!

I totally agree :D

Just got the game yesterday. I played my very first round of hot shots golf w/ stroke play and I really wasn't feeling it. But then I started playing challange mode and everything clicked and it became so much fun and addicting.

Is there a good number of people playing this on Xlink?

So you're telling me that if you're playing 4P match game, you DON'T have to watch the other guys swing? I doubt this, but will be happy if proven wrong. What happens when you finish the hole and the other players haven't? Do you go into some kind of spectator mode?

i dont think you have to watch them. hot shots golf fore allowed up to 50 players to play in a tournament online. the game host just sets at time limit per hole and everyone has to finish their hole in that time limit. when you finished a hole, you go to the scoreboard ranking screen, where you can chat with other people as other people are finishing their round.

that's for HSG Fore online though. i'm assuming its something similiar in open tee

I was on xlink the other night, ther where 4-6 people playing all night.

Yes when you play tourny mode you dont have to watch the other players swing, you see thier ball markers as you play. AFAIK thier is no spectator mode and the maximum amount of players is 8. If you finnish the hole early you have to wait for others, you get dumped to the scorecard screen and can see what stroke they are on. You have to wait till they are done to move on to the next hole.

So, this is only in tournament mode? What about 4P match play (or skins, if HSG features that)?

multiplayer in HSG: OT is as follows:

2p match play (you watch the other player swing in this mode)
2-8p tourney
2p putting challenge

I see lots of buzz regarding the "hot" putting in this game. I've just put in some hours on this game yet, but apart from a worse overhead view I don't see how it's different from the other HSG's. And the changes done to overhead view really don't go well with me. For really long puts its good, but you can't zoom in near enough to get a good feel for the ~10-15ft puts.

So, am I missing something here?

Are the one liners from Fore present like:

"Drink a Gallon of Milk"
"I'll cook you sausages"
"Like my shoes?"
"I just learned to read"
"Put your left hand on your right knee"
Easier than stealing a quail egg"

nope, none of those lines are in open tee. the characters aren't americanized at all...they actually kept them intact from the import

hey guys remember Threads are worthless without pictures :D

Man, when we both sunk 50+ foot putts, that was HARDCORE.

However, teaming up with my wife/daughter to distract me was NOT!

Err....wife/daughter? Yikes. Please use an & next time. Can't believe no-one said anything about this.

does anybody have both this and tiger woods? how do they compare? i'm more of a tiger woods fan, but ign's review has me questioning the game...

I would love to try to fit in a round via xlink. It's been a while since I read the guide, but what do I need to run it?

Software
Wireless Router
Any crazy conditions?

:lol That doesn't sound right...........

I really want to know if this game works with XLink.

I have been playing with a couple of my friends the past 2 weeks. It has been a blast, though I wish we had other people to play though. I might have to try out the X-link deal.

Meh. The computers that have a wireless NIC are on 98SE and a laptop. :(

I'm betting your set then. OS doesn't matter, as long as the card is configured correctly.

I use a wireless nic that is on my laptop and works just fine.
