A tier. Not a remake in sight (except for pc ports). Totally hyped for Virtua Fighter, Onimusha, Turok. Project Century looks cool af. But no generation defining holy shit games like we were promised.

A easily. Onimusha is back baby. VF. Witcher 4.

Cautiously hyped for Crimson Desert. And it was very generous of Naughty Dog to reveal the trailer for the Concord episode of Amazon Lost Levels.

Solid B for a great first half an hour, and a somewhat lacklustre two and a half hours. Okami I'm sure will be lovely, but not the huge megaton old crying eyes Keighley thinks it is.

A for sure, it was really excellent this year. Huge improvement that addressed many of the criticisms the past few years. Hope they will continue in this direction in the future.

What time is it?

I'm not even a big Okami fan but getting Kamiya back is kind of a big deal.

Darkness no more
D. Hyped for Witcher 4, the new Ueda game and maybe Okami. All the games I liked didn't show gameplay footage so overall it was a boring show. I need more info on what the Elden Ring content is exactly.

God awful. The new ND game looks like it's from another time with the 2020-era wokism, annoying guests, shitty music, Snoop Dogg - he even managed to make me want to kill the Muppets.

Onimusha, Virtua Fighter, whatever that Elden Ring DLC ends up being, and Witcher 4 look great. The rest was a leaking garbage bag filled with diarrhea and vomit. Fucking Okami 2 was the big reveal? Fuck off.

And, Astro Bot is GOTY? In a year that includes Space Marine 2?

Bro quit the hobby. If nothing in this show got you excited that this is what you deem F, then the years before must’ve been a Z by your standards.
The years years before were A’s and B’s…hell I would even take C-‘s these days.

Also…I apologize for having a personal opinion in a personal opinion thread, my bad.

Solid A. Plenty of notable announcements and appearances. I'm glad TGA exists. Geoff's respect for the industry and people in it is thoroughly evident, and the work he's done on the show over the years is commendable. Looking forward to next year's show.
Arkham Shadow should've won GOTY and not PS Minions: The Game btw, fight me.

Best TGA in terms of announcements/trailers in recent memory. At least that's how I felt.

Capcom delivered with Onimusha.
Capcom is allowing Kamiya(Clover revived) to make a new Okami
RGG unveiled a new Virtua Fighter that looks beatiful(looking forward to the stream tonight)
RGG revealed a new game Century that looks cool
Ueda announced a new game
Helldivers 2 Omen update shown and it's out now
Hazelight's Split Fiction game looks fun
Mafia The Old Country has my interest
Happy Naughty Dog is doing something new in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet(although not all that thrilled with the character design but ehh, whatever im still excited)

Im sure I missed some but the announcements really spoke to me tonight. Maybe missing another new JRPG but im just being greedy. This is probably the best im ever going to see in terms of getting my wishes. Plus AstroBot and Helldivers 2 won big tonight and got new content for each game out now. Really happy for those devs.

Settling on an A

Best gaming announcements in years

You have lost your mind
That’s your opinion. I didn’t see very many things there that were new and exciting. I saw lots of sequels, a couple of interesting ideas for games that I’ll probably not buy and a 2-3 interesting games that I’ll probably buy. There was also way too much CG and not a lot of gameplay. A lot of trend chasing and not very many new original ideas.

How you can call it one of the best gaming announcements in years when many of the games didn’t even have gameplay is baffling. Sure if you were looking for sequels galore like borderlands 4, Witcher 4, etc, I’m sure you enjoyed it. However if you bought a new generation console for new ips and new experiences not possible on last gen, I cannot see how you could be impressed by that show. Many of the games looked like they could run on ps4 for crying out loud.

It's a definite A if you love videogames and aren't a jaded, cynical cunt (good luck on GAF lol). Some *huge* surprises like Ueda's new game, Elden Ring "expansion", the return of both Onimusha and Okami, ND project reveal (yes, the protag is trash, get over it), Helldivers 2 surprise shadowdrop, The Witcher 4, what more do you want? Most importantly, Astrobot took it's well deserved GOTY, good times, PlayStation stay winning 🥳🥳🥳
Imagine calling people a cunt because they don’t think this was an A. Idiot.

Better than years past. Really long, but the quick pacing from trailer to award to ads helped a lot. Some great announcements. Could do without the celeb bullshit but whatever. Gave it an A this year.

As far as my personal list of hyped games after the show:

  • Okami
  • New Ueda game
  • Khazan (too bad the only footage was worthless CGI trailer)
  • Crimson Desert - Game came out of nowhere for me and now I'm quite hyped for it.
  • Onimusha
  • The mecha games
  • Will keep an eye on the GoT game.
  • DnF Arad
Overall much better than I was expecting to see.

Some big turds too, new Witcher, new ND game, Turok, Dying Light all didn't impress me whatsoever.

Unsure about the Elden Ring game. Need more info.

Dude original ideas come in 1 out of a million. Everything is recycled from before. The reality is what else can you make ganes about? At least it wasn't all about fucking zombies or everything purple like the previous years. New ips always come at a lower rate in every gen. Devs need to play safe to make money too. Also, the graphical jump this gen wasn't as big as before. Nothing is really impressing graphically anymore.

As someone who thinks every one of these deserve E at best for the last couple of years this one was a C for me, to my surprise.

If you told me ten years ago people would cry about a no-show from Valve for HL3 at the 2024 TGAs I would have told you that you're crazy but here we are.

Good show. B for me, but it would have been an A if Geoff didn't spooge during the Elden Ring announcement and cry every other a segment.

Very happy with it. A solid effort all-around and lots of things to be excited for. I'd been hopeful to see Onimusha return for years, so that was a joy to see.

Okami--I recall it, but I don't feel that much nostalgic power for it, though I know it's very good.

Naughty Dog's IP is..it's all right. People will mope and malign various aspects of it, but chances are it'll be one of the games on stage at that Awards when it releases also.

Astro Bot winning was what I wanted(well, my boy wanted it the most) and arguably they deserved it. Sony continues to rack up GOTY trophies seemingly year after year.

Sven putting some on blast about their ridiculous push for predatory monetizing shit or trend chasing was a good thing to say and I'm also glad they addressed the staggering amount of layoffs in the industry.

So despite all these handicaps, you still rated it as the one of the best game shows in years. Truly baffling.

Solid start and end but the whole 2 hours in the middle kinda sucked.

The reveals weren't that exciting to me honestly. I'm kinda past getting excited about the "this thing is getting made" type of announcements.

Some CG Witcher trailer, a new Ueda game that showed almost nothing, an Okami sequels that's only beginning production and doesn't even have a title, a new ND IP showing little besides an uninspired Sci Fi Setting, etc.

I'm sure many of the games will be good and I'll enjoy them. But I'll get excited when they actually show the games and not some conceptual cinematic trailers

No Rating

I didn't watch it at all but apparently some unexpected announcements and Astro Bot won GOTY as it rightfully should so I'm happy and I was playing an actual game instead of watching it so I won

Nothing I'm personally interested in, but I can understand a lot of those games being well received by people here.

Best show I've seen since the E3 of dreams

Just insane announcements in there

Of course this format will always have ads and pacing issues but that was the only issue

The right game picked for GOTY as well
1000% agreed on every point, especially the E3 one. Regardless of a slightly weaker last 4th of the show, it felt like Geoff finally kept his foot on the gas pedal and this was an easy S rating for me overall. Even Geoff using the heckling muppets as a representation of the negative side of the gaming community was a good call.

You guys won't get an announcements show anywhere near this good for at least 3-5 years at minimum, so enjoy it.

Games of note:
  • Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
  • Thick as Thieves
  • Shadow Labyrinth
  • Steel Paws
  • Stalcraft Operations
  • Re/Match (Soccer game from Sifu devs)
  • Witcher 4
  • Elden Ring Night Reign
  • Untitled Ueda Epic Games Project
  • Outer Worlds 2
  • Split Fiction
  • Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2
  • Steel Hunters
  • Clive in Tekken
  • New Virtua Fighter
  • Project Century
  • Turok Origins
  • Helldivers 2 Omens of Tyranny
  • Wuthering Waves announcement trailer
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword
  • Dungeon Fighter Online 2 (Now called Arad: Dungeon Fighter)
  • Stage Fright
  • Game of Thrones Kings Road
  • Solo Leveling Arise
  • Screamer (anime cel-shaded racing game)
  • Den of Wolves
  • Sonic Racing Crossworlds
  • Dispatch
  • Okami Sequel
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Some notes:
  • For the Ueda Project, smart move by Epic games grabbing a legendary creator and giving him a big budget for an exclusive. They should do this more)
  • Hopefully the second half of Split Fiction blends the sci-fi/fantasy together
  • GoT: Kings Road Reminds me of LoTR: Two Towers on PS2
  • I was surprised at how many announcements are games within 2ish years. I was worried this would emulate the old E3's too much by announcing games 3-4+ years away.

Bro quit the hobby. If nothing in this show got you excited that this is what you deem F, then the years before must’ve been a Z by your standards.
Tonight and most of 2025 are where you will really witness who here actually enjoys video games as a medium and who here is simply grifting or jaded beyond belief. Same goes for some of the content creators people follow here.

Keep notice.

There were good announcements of classic franchises but with like 100 asterisks for me.

Their best show but was still a little long with a few dull/flat points especially in the middle section of the show but some good reveals and happy with Astro Bot and Helldivers II doing well at the awards

If they can trim 45 minutes of the flat/dull parts then they had a much better/tighter show

Ueda's new game and Okami 2 were genuinely god-tier announcements. The Elden Ring co-op game, while definitely not what I wanted, was also huge.

Onimusha, Ninja Gaiden and Virtua Fighter were awesome. For these things alone, S tier.

But the show also had remnants of the "old world", the brain rot of the last 5 years. Fat DEI Ciri, Naughty Dog's bald boi and all the multiplayer slop like Splitgate, Borderlands 4 and Warren Spector's new game are going to be hit real hard by our post-Concord reality.

I'm going to enjoy seeing all the studios not say anything about first-month sales for these games, like we've seen so many of them do this year with Star Wars, Dragon Age etc.

The show was also 2 hours too long, so I'll bump it down to a B. Very excited for the future of gaming, tho. Something I couldn't say these past 5 years.

Also loved the shout-out to Super Mario Bros and Nintendo, at the end.

Know your roots.
