Didn’t watch it so I won’t rate it. But Okami 2 was a cool announcement. Astro Bot getting GOTY as well.

Naughty Dog’s new game was unexpected but didn’t look very exciting to me unfortunately.

I can just say I’m glad I didn’t waste time on it. Which I guess is a bad “score”.

A new Onimusha and Okami make this a solid A for me.

Would have been an S if Turok was a FPS game 😔

B+ for me. Some good announcements. Frankly, western video game devs are awful nowadays. Asia is where it's at so glad to see more games coming from there 😁

Coming from a guy who's dunked on the show for years, I think it was really good. Probably the best show they've ever put on. There were no embarrassing production issues like cueing the music to signal recipients to get off stage, the show itself ran smoothly with quality announcements, the picks were (largely) solid (with the very noticeable exception of Wukong probably being viewers' choice'd by China). Statler and Waldorf are the best Muppet guests the show's had too.

Reiterating that the show ran smoothly. In past TGAs, a lot of pieces tended to get long in the tooth but everything this year felt well-paced.

I think an A score is pretty fair. The S would be for Silksong.

Super good, I'm definitely going to play:
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Witcher 4
  • Elden Ring Spin-off
  • Outer Worlds 2
  • Project Century
  • Turok Origins
  • Onimusha
  • Kazan
  • Dying Light The Beast (Spin-off)
  • Mafia Old Country
  • Intergalactic
Damn, next few years are going to be insane!

Surprisingly good, but went out with a whimper on that ND reveal. When you are hoping for HL3 and you get… that, it’s a real gut punch.

If all Keighley needs to do is not waste everyone's time with literal D-tier indie shovelware to get as high a ranking as this forum's giving it, we're in deep shit.

I didn't watch the live broadcast, but these announcements were absolutely sleep inducing.

Tired ass old IP dragged forward with "Please be excite" tier announcements. 2D side scrolling Ninja Gaiden! Yay, because that's what everyone cares about. Sequels that haven't advanced in the 5+ years since the last instalment.

New IP that isn't even new: Shadows of the Mecha.

All to top it off with Naughty Dog putting out footage of a new IP that barely looks more graphically enhanced than Part II, with a protagonist who must've been made to spite everyone who had a problem with that game (no, I'm not one of them), and it's doing the nonsensical retrofuturistic shit with reheated Akira/Bladerunner aesthetic, with Soulslop gameplay and tryhard enemy design.

Weak times for the industry.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I'd give it an A. I'm feeling generous, I guess. A fair amount of crap and way too much mobile, but man. Onimusha? Okami? 2D Ninja Gaiden? Speaking my damn language. I could've done with fewer CG trailers, but the highs were really high for me.

I was there in person and seeing Snoop perform was cool, even if he sorta phoned it in.

It ruined my game-of-the-year (Tekken 8) but also confirmed development on something I wanted for over a decade... Virtua Fighter 6. Immeasurable disappointment together with unbounded enthusiasm would place it at C for me.

God awful. The new ND game looks like it's from another time with the 2020-era wokism, annoying guests, shitty music, Snoop Dogg - he even managed to make me want to kill the Muppets.

Onimusha, Virtua Fighter, whatever that Elden Ring DLC ends up being, and Witcher 4 look great. The rest was a leaking garbage bag filled with diarrhea and vomit. Fucking Okami 2 was the big reveal? Fuck off.

And, Astro Bot is GOTY? In a year that includes Space Marine 2?

ha gay GIF
I disagree but this is a great take! Space Marine 2 got shafted!

1000% agreed on every point, especially the E3 one. Regardless of a slightly weaker last 4th of the show, it felt like Geoff finally kept his foot on the gas pedal and this was an easy S rating for me overall. Even Geoff using the heckling muppets as a representation of the negative side of the gaming community was a good call.

You guys won't get an announcements show anywhere near this good for at least 3-5 years at minimum, so enjoy it.

Games of note:
  • Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
  • Thick as Thieves
  • Shadow Labyrinth
  • Steel Paws
  • Stalcraft Operations
  • Re/Match (Soccer game from Sifu devs)
  • Witcher 4
  • Elden Ring Night Reign
  • Untitled Ueda Epic Games Project
  • Outer Worlds 2
  • Split Fiction
  • Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2
  • Steel Hunters
  • Clive in Tekken
  • New Virtua Fighter
  • Project Century
  • Turok Origins
  • Helldivers 2 Omens of Tyranny
  • Wuthering Waves announcement trailer
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword
  • Dungeon Fighter Online 2 (Now called Arad: Dungeon Fighter)
  • Stage Fright
  • Game of Thrones Kings Road
  • Solo Leveling Arise
  • Screamer (anime cel-shaded racing game)
  • Den of Wolves
  • Sonic Racing Crossworlds
  • Dispatch
  • Okami Sequel
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Some notes:
  • For the Ueda Project, smart move by Epic games grabbing a legendary creator and giving him a big budget for an exclusive. They should do this more)
  • Hopefully the second half of Split Fiction blends the sci-fi/fantasy together
  • GoT: Kings Road Reminds me of LoTR: Two Towers on PS2
  • I was surprised at how many announcements are games within 2ish years. I was worried this would emulate the old E3's too much by announcing games 3-4+ years away.
Yes. If you predicted before the show we'd see new Naughty Dog IP, Onimusha rebooted, new Ueda game, new Okami game with Kamiya back at Capcom, new Elden Ring, Witcher 4, a new Virtual Fighter and a new Onimusha people would say you're being unrealistic

Glad I went to sleep and was able to fast forward through it in an hour in the morning.

Best thing on display was probably new Hazelight Split Fiction
Then Mafia
Then Witcher 4, which disappointed me because Empress ending is so much better, and the trailer also did not inspire much (Night to Remember this ain't)
Naughty Dog game super underwhelming, the only interesting thing about the trailer was the music - of course, Trent motherfucking Reznor

Rest was mostly fast forward fodder

A or S, i dont know what more people can expect from TGA.
It actually had everything. Only thing i did not like was that ads were too long and too often

Imagine being a cynical cunt like you. Oh wait, we don't to imagine it, your post history speaks for itself 👌
Completely unnecessary. Calling everyone who disagrees with you a cunt, then when you get called on it, making it personal and straight up calling me a cunt…wild. You are doing your part in making Gaf a great place to talk video games 🤦‍♂️

I hate the whole event and how it has conditioned people to think the award winners there are the only once of importance while we got more than 500 of such GOTY awards worldwide.

But this year we had at least lots of new and interesting game anouncements, so i voted B.

Try again…you legitimately called everyone on Gaf who disagrees with you a cunt. Keep acting 3 years old though. “He started it” 🤦‍♂️. Rewind to the post I responded to initially…

“It's a definite A if you love videogames and aren't a jaded, cynical cunt (good luck on GAF lol). Some *huge* surprises like Ueda's new game, Elden Ring "expansion", the return of both Onimusha and Okami, ND project reveal (yes, the protag is trash, get over it), Helldivers 2 surprise shadowdrop, The Witcher 4, what more do you want? Most importantly, Astrobot took it's well deserved GOTY, good times, PlayStation stay winning 🥳🥳🥳

1. Never quoted you but you decided to quote me and call me an "idiot". You decided you wanted to roll around in the mud with me, I promise you I'm the right one for that lmao

2. There are a lot of cynical cunts who long lost their passion/joy for gaming, you seem to be one of them, go work on yourself

3. TGA's were fire, that is the general consensus unless you're a: _____________

I didn't see the show but when it comes to announcements they got nothing. The only remarkable stuff was Okami (unecessary sequel, project GG was more exciting...) and Onimusha (but I honestly think samurai games/traditional asia setting don't have that much range and the market is getiing a bit saturated now).

It was franky amusing to see how much faith Sony had on the DEI-certered retrofuturist action games. ND's new game could be Concord story mode if it was 10% more laid back.

Fumito Ueda did his thing and convinced me completely that he was creatively done when he finished SoTC. No new ideas since then.

You literally called everyone one on Gaf a cunt who didn’t give the show an “A”…yea, you called me a cunt.

I wouldn’t call people “cunts” but I do I agree with you about majority of people on GAF are overly “jaded” over everything to point I also believe they just go and find different hobby at this point.

No real bangers aside from Witcher 4, no Half-Life 3 (I know I shouldn't have been waiting in the first place), too much focus on cinematic content in the trailers and not enough real gameplay.

Also Astrobot definitely doesn't deserve to be a goty.

They should really just cut the awards to Djeoph announcing them at this point. I think maybe they did like 4-5 actual award giving?

Cool announcements overall. it still feels like the gaming industry is stagnant creatively.

Didn't really get any of the games I was hoping for so can't be more than B. Looking forward to Okami and Ueda's game, but who knows how many eons away they are. Witcher 4 didn't leave much of an impression yet. ND was a disappointment.

If you voted D, E or F, im sorry, but you're miserable and should find a new hobby
Was going to write this. Why are these people even on a gaming forum?

Anyway, solid A for me, although I have to say I'm in Europe, so I just skipped to the game reveals. Even though I am not interested in most of the games that were revealed, I am happy that there are so many great looking (and hopefully playing) games coming out.

-Geoff still announces best RPG as a sidekick
-Musicals i dont care about
-Too many crap commercials
-No big satisfying reveal except Split Fiction

I kinda liked those two old dudes roasting him though, and Swen and Sam Lake presentation was good.

Not bad but still a lot to improve.

I rate it as ‘Not interested in anything as I’ll be playing Path of Exile 2 for the next decade’.
