If all Keighley needs to do is not waste everyone's time with literal D-tier indie shovelware to get as high a ranking as this forum's giving it, we're in deep shit.

I didn't watch the live broadcast, but these announcements were absolutely sleep inducing.

Tired ass old IP dragged forward with "Please be excite" tier announcements. 2D side scrolling Ninja Gaiden! Yay, because that's what everyone cares about. Sequels that haven't advanced in the 5+ years since the last instalment.

New IP that isn't even new: Shadows of the Mecha.

All to top it off with Naughty Dog putting out footage of a new IP that barely looks more graphically enhanced than Part II, with a protagonist who must've been made to spite everyone who had a problem with that game (no, I'm not one of them), and it's doing the nonsensical retrofuturistic shit with reheated Akira/Bladerunner aesthetic, with Soulslop gameplay and tryhard enemy design.

Weak times for the industry.
please quit gaming

I still have to properly sitin front of my tv to watch all the trailers but from the snippets i saw, i guess that atl east a full 7/10 is fair.

Sometimes I'm annoyed as this is always too late to watch here in UK. But then I'm reminded its ok because when I watch it on youtube the next morning, my right arrow key gets a lot of action. 90% of it is entirely skippable.

I gave it a B(+).

Not much here I'd be interested in. Guess I'm just not as open to trying different games nowadays. But I can acknowledge that there were big and unexpected announcements there that people would be impressed by.

I just think some of the unimportant rewards were given a lot of time, whereas important ones were glossed over. Probably subjective though. And I don't see the point in a Snoop Dogg performance and other time wasters like that.

Best part was the Muppets. They didn't take too much time and their jokes were great.

youre the one malding over a good show, here

go find another hobby cuz this isnt the one for you
Excuse me, are we only allowed to voice one opinion in a thread polling and asking for opinions?

Exactly. Now go back to being dazzled by marketing only to be disappointed when the actual products release.

Rated B coz it destroyed my hope for ND to release any good game this gen, witcher4 was full on cgi, and it was terrible but wont judge game from that, altho uglyfied Ciri w/o any humour/charmisma Geralt had is huge downgrade of protagonist 4sure.
New VF, onimusha and ueda's game are big pros of the show, astrobot winning was cool too.

I give it a C. Horrible show to sit through as usual. Awards continue to be an afterthought to the trailers and musical acts. Some big surprises but mostly games that are several years away.

The only real difference between this year and previous years is that there were a few more big reveals than usual, but largely it was the same bad awards show. Bought into the "You won't want to miss this one!" hype from Schreier & co. but I don't think I'll be watching it live anymore.

F.

An endless, soul-crushing cascade of interchangeable product that only served to diminish the quality of work on show and drive home how creatively vacant Western dev is right now.

Presentation was glossy but pacing was turgid, add-breaks having more emphasis than most award announcements.

Offensively terrible.

It was a great effort by Geoff this year to be honest.

Not S-Tier because there was still 90 minutes of superfluous ads and gacha nonsense, but better than previous years.

Polished show. Decent music. A few good reveals but releasing beyond 2025 (Witcher 4, Okami 2, Naughty Dog Intergalactic lesbian simulator....)

It was full of sequels and GAAS, MP trash. There were at least two dozen GAAS games. Very few AA games. Very little originality.

No Nintendo (obviously)

Really only one big Xbox game (Outer Worlds 2) and one big PS5 game (Intergalactic).

No Half Life 3

Pretty disappointing except for showing Indiana Jones some love and Harrison Ford (stupid that it couldn't be nominated!)

Serious question guys; what stuff stood out to you in that endless show that wasn't a previously established brand?

considering I didn't even know the thing was on, I don't rate it that highly. Plus I find Geoff to have the most punchable of faces so to avoid having to buy a new monitor this year it was probably a good thing I didn't remember about it.

Only disagreement is calling out the western side.

Sorry, but the Japanese end is running on hype of bygone IP. New Virtua Fighter coming from fuck knows who, nothing to show, but get hyped! Member Onimusha? Here it Souls-ified!

True, but those resurrected franchises are for the most part well-rested, and its hard to argue that not only is Japanese dev in the midst of something of a resurgence in bankability, but Chinese and Korean devs are making massive
inroads critically and commercially.

Meanwhile Western dev is sharply declining, with the sheer sameyness of the product giving me zero hope of a turnaround for a few years.

If this isn’t an S tier show then nothing will ever hit that grade.

Onimusha, Virtua Fighter, and a 2D Ninja Gaiden alone are big. And that was just a small part of it.

Very good. much better than anything I've seen this gen. I watched a Replay and skimmed through though.

hey, i didnt ask for your post to be deleted. just saying between you complaining all year, not talking about games so much as sales, and just being a buzz-kill, seems like the hobby isn't for you. A bunch of cool announcements, a deserved GOTY win, and you're still mad.

You have the right to be miserable and i have the right to tell you to cry somewhere else- you don't have to listen to me tho lol

Astro Bot won and this a win in my book.
Was OK, I would give C, until that Intergalatic bitch trailer. I downgrade to D.

It was the best TGA as far as announcements go. I'd go A or S, but I can see B. Anyone ranking it below B, I don't see it. Maybe that last game MC looking ugly gave a bad taste on the way out, but otherwise there was a lot to love going on there that covered a vast audience. Any anime game fans are eating and eating well, so perhaps I'm biased.

Also, Astro and Metaphor getting such huge recognition felt really good. Even Monke was recognized.

It was not as big as E3 once was...yet, if Nintendo had decided to drop a big game or two in there(or a hardware announcement), it would have likely made it better than most E3s I can remember.

TGA is definitely growing each year, so it being pretty good this time is a very good sign.

Surprisingly good, but went out with a whimper on that ND reveal. When you are hoping for HL3 and you get… that, it’s a real gut punch.
Couldn't agree more. The show itself was much better than expected, barring some pacing issues. The ND reveal was bad: ignoring the potential wokeness, whoever made that trailer needs to learn how to make trailers from some of these other developers at the show. The trailer had no hook and it didn't even do a good job revealing the atmosphere of the world(s). Hell, I'd normally be excited about the Reznor / Ross soundtrack collaboration, but the world just looked bland (not to mention full of in-your-face branding). What ND came up with should be reserved for an established IP.

It was a AAAA évent.

The new Ueda
Okami 2 by Kamiya
The return of Onimusha
The Witcher 4

And Astrobot Goty!

I’m disappointed by Interstellar because of the shitty character design. The worst is the product placement (to vomit 🤮).

It was fine, I know that all the JRPG devs released in the last year so it makes sense there was nothing to show. No Kojima was weird.

Good, very good in some aspects but needlessly long. Almost 5 hours of it counting the Pre-show. 2 hours to 2 hours and a half should be more than enough to present everything and give the rewards.

I "holy shit" myself after seeing Okami, Onimusha and Ueda-san's new game, but fell for the HL3 rumours and wept when Gabe didn't show up.

I thought it was really solid, easily the best TGA. I think there was a lot of emotional type announcements that are great but the actual games themselves are far away. Like Okami sequel I think that's literally all they have is what they showed here, development hasn't even started. And who know when a new Fumito Ueda game will ever get released, but still great to know it's in production. Also missing anything from Nintendo, which always puts a damper on it for me since they're my favortie.

B, would have been an A but this went way too long.

+ Astrobot winning GOTY and Elden Ring DLC getting snubbed in every category
+ Okami sequel, Clover and Kamiya back together is dope
+ Witcher 4 concept looks dope
+ Split Fiction looked pretty great and in the same vein as It Takes Two
+ Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden revivals
= Just let Sydnee Goodman host these
= Unsold on Intergalactic but Naughty Dog do deserve reserved judgement based on track record TLOU2 aside
- A lot of filler trash
- Snoop Dogg

Much better than the last few years but theres still room for improvement

I’m just glad FF7 didn’t win GotY. Astro Bot was a safe bet and a game I rooted for before it was even announced.
Me too! As a life long Final Fantasy fan, this one didn’t deserve it. It was fun, but overly bloated. There were several other games that could have gotten it over this, and I would have been okay with it.

It was a B for my tastes, but an S overall. So I voted in the middle and gave it an A.

If you think the sucked, you frankly need to find a new hobby.

Last night had reveals for the new Naughty Dog game, a new Elden Ring game, The Witcher 4, the next Fumito Ueda game, Borderlands 4, a new Okami, Outer Worlds 2, a new Virtua Fighter game, the new game from Josef Fares (Split Fiction), a new Onimusha, a new Mafia game, a new Turok, Helldivers AVAILABLE NOW content, a new Ninja Gaiden game, FFVII Rebirth and TLOU Part II coming to PC, Warren Spector's new game, a first look at Slay the Spire 2, etc.. etc.. etc..

I mean come the fuck on lol

Sequels of established ip..... Safe and boring

That’s what AAA gaming is. Even then I don’t know how anyone can look at what was shown and call it boring.

At least there was a new ND ip shown, and that interesting one Epic’s publishing.

I just hope Nico Doucet makes good on his potential promise of bringing Astrobot to PC. He asked at launch whether they would be interest in a port, I made sure to say "Hell, yes!"

A tier! The actual content (trailers) was really damn good, like really.

But! Its just too damn long. It was gruuuueling to sit through. So for the actual show it was meh. Music portions were good time to go use the bathroom tho lmao.
