The new sci-fi quest in Rec Room is no joke. I keep dying in that cargo room.
Next question on Assetto Corso. Could someone tell me the steps I need to do to get it to work in VR? I did enable OpenVR rendering mode. When I launch a race I get a black screen and it doesn't appear to ever load in. Should it be in desktop theater mode in its steam properties page? Anything else I am supposed to do?
I want to get a racing game but I don't have a wheel. Anyone have a cheap wheel they can recommend? I learned recently the typical wheels recommended run around 150-300 or so. Been a few weeks, numbers might be sketchy. Yet still, those numbers...
Any recommendations for great horror games?

Dead secret
Besides what others have mentioned, The Bellows is free for limited time on Steam.I played the demo briefly and it was pretty creepy.

It's a game(?) called World Builder. You just, well, build worlds. It actually sounds really appealing. That seems like it'd be really relaxing and fun to do while watching something, the VR equivalent of a podcast game. It definitely needs the ability to share worlds though. Walking around and checking out the worlds your friends have built would be awesome. I don't know how many creation tools are in it atm, but i'll be keeping an eye on it. It makes me wish there was something like Project Spark or Kodu in VR.

Was playing Arizona sunshine last night and hit what I thought was a wall. Turns out it was my tv looks like I either scuffed or scratched it ( bought an inch, shaped like a crescent). It wasn't appear pixels were damaged. Any recommendations on self repair kits?
Doom 3 and Penumbra games have been modified to work with vive controllers and they work fairly well. Doom 3 kinda suffers because of the fast movement but the Amnesia predecessor Penumbra is scarier than ever when you are the one swinging that rave stick around.
I don't know about any kits,sorry.
Did you have the chaperone bounds/walls set to off?
If not, then maybe turning on the middle marker for your playspace in the advanced setting helps. I always have that on because I always want to see quickly where the middle of my room is so I can recenter myself and don't accidentally punch through my chaperone walls (I've made them trigger very late because I only have a small play area available and don't always want to see the walls when stretching out my arms etc)

The VR mod for Half-life 2 seems to be making progress.
I Have a 1080 and a 3770k and am wondering about the Supersampling in SPT..
I feel like I should be able to turn it on but I'm still so new to this and am worried I won't be able to tell when the interpolation kicks in if it tanks the framerate. Usually with a traditional game you just push it until it looks smooth enough but with VR I'm worried I won't really be able to tell when somethin fishy is goin on. Or is it glaringly obvious when the interpolation kicks in?
I'm not sure myself, the idea (I think) is that you wont notice when it runs ... and idealy also when it kicks in but I've read different posts about it. It could be that I am missunderstandng you and you don't really mean the moment it kicks in but the entire time it is on?
I used to get small hitching, screen jumping now and then, nothing major but it was noticable and I had the thought that it was maybe the reprojection turning on/off. When I turned on "always reprojection on" the hitching disappeared, maybe it was unrelated and an update took care of it, I'm not really sure about these things.

Cool. I'm gonna try this when I get home. I also discovered that SteamVR can record frametimes etc in the settings menu. Didn't know that before. I think tuning things should be pretty straight forward.Look at you gun when moving it. Interpolation will be pretty obvious due to blurriness instead of the perfect 1:1 you usually see.
I purchased the package deal with the 1070!
Is there anything special a VR-dedicated PC build should have besides the graphics card (and an SSD)? Any particular motherboard or RAM or anything like that? Can I go with Windows 7 OEM or is it finally time to learn Linux?
Thanks. Yeah, planning an i7 to be a bit futureproof. A couple of follow-ups:Windows 7 fine (10 also fine).
The more RAM the better. VR is a guzzler. I'm on 16GB but genuinely tempted to get another 16.
I'm rocking a high-end i5 Intel processor and that seems to do just fine, but if you can budget higher (e.g. to an i7), do it.
No, upgrading your single GPU (and selling the old) will probably always be a more effective option going forward.Would you get a motherboard with a slot for a second graphics card (under the plan that soon we'll be able to use one card for each eye)?
At least for now, VR games aren't huge, so I'd say yes. (For now)Can you get away with an SSD only if it's just a VR machine?
Thanks, really appreciate everyone handling my basic questions. Can't wait to join y'all in the future. No, upgrading your single GPU (and selling the old) will probably always be a more effective option going forward.

Dude I don't think I was ready for Raw Data. I got seriously flustered on the first level when the invisible midboss robot shows up. It was fucked, I had a very brief moment of sheer panic. I instinctively went to tear the headset off but since I was using the advance grip mode I dropped my gun and then banged my controller into my face....
My girlfriend got really weirded out in Budget Cuts, too. Its really impressive how scary it is to have something coming right at you.
Picked up Rick and Morty a few days ago and got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Seems like a good game to show off to friends if they like the show.
I realized this is my first VR pickup in a few months so I figured I'd ask, what's been everyone's top VR game that's come out this year so far?
I think some parts of Raw Data are always going to be a bit scary alone (I mostly play it in coop).
About teleportation though, I'd say it's like any other gaming skill. You'll get really good at it with practice, and be able to zoom around levels even while fighting. It feels pretty great.
