Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

From the Warp Pad, go left up the stairs, and then go South when you see the first Bear statue. It's really close to the stairs, can't miss it. You should get the rest.
Oooh, thanks. I kept going there and not seeing the bot prompt.

On the other hand, fuck me for following the path. Now I'm stuck in that crystal spike dungeon and it is literally hell finishing that crap.

Most of it was Kickstarter backers. It's fine since that was a reward.

It's not fine if you don't have a button to skip it.

I'm at letter 'R' since my last message. I hope to see the end before the end of the night, if I'm lucky.

Edit : wait, you press down to scroll faster; I'm saved !

I think that you need to unlock the first dash ability. I assumed the animation meant it was a jump so you could leap over the blocks, however it's something else that's really useful for traversal and movement in combat.

I have the chain dash. Is that not it? It doesn't do anything but smash me into the wall. Am I supposed to go somewhere else to get into the room that is behind it?

DAMN I DID IT
Got a new outfit for my problems.

If you are where I think you are,
trying going inside the walls
.

When you get to a locked door with the key on it and it has red squares, what do they indicate?
How many keys you need to unlock it.

How do I get to the triangle in the east thats in the middle of the water to the right? Im in the dungeon and can see it above me but must be missing how to get to it

E nvm, totally missed an entrance

I don't even know what a key looks like. Is it an obvious key?

Keys are found on slumped skeletons. Usually they look like a red item surrounded by some wisps of black smoke (or is it red smoke and black item?). Either way, you'll know when you find one as it'll show an animation of it being added to your inventory.

EDIT: Re: your earlier question about the locked door, there's a pillar you can activate with the rifle in the top left of picture #2. That bridges the gap you can see and allows you to cross. Once over the gap, you'll find a hole in the west wall you can get through, and you'll see you're in the room that the locked door leads to.

Wow, well I completed the east area and some of the west and haven't come across one yet. I'll be on the lookout.

Man I can't wait to get this on the PS4. Between this and Below on my One, I have a lot to look forward to because of talented indie developers

First you need to
defeat the boss to remove those two blocks. Go to the upper areas and search for a door that unlocks if you have 3 triangles, you'll get into a dungeon with the boss at the end.

Right after I read your post I smacked my forehead. I remembered the door. That boss was similar to the WoW boss Lei Shen. Cool.

Man, after the
slog
that was West, South is proving to be a lot of fun. The
surprise mini-bosses
in particular are great, though I am a little worried about how tough the final boss is going to be.

For those who've fought the South Boss, can you give me an idea of how difficult it is compared with N, E and W?

Harder than East, easier than the others. His pattern is too obvious, but his speed and secondary attack are somewhat tricky.

Jesus, I just played this game for like 20 hours straight. I essentially finished it in one sitting.

All I have left to get are 4 keys and 4 yellow upgrade bits (the only thing not fully upgraded is the gun with the ricocheting projectiles). I found all the monuments and triangle pieces.

Video dump of all my boss fights and some of the 8 triangle challenge rooms. Spoiler tagging for the hell of it; I know that URLs show up through spoiler tags, but those don't spoil anything any way.

There's something pretty special locked behind the 12 key door in the town. I actually think it's pretty ballsy of them to put that there...
considering some backers on reddit were complaining about there not being a challenge mode.

The map in general isn't very good. Looks cool, is practically useless for navigation.

I kinda like it, to be honest, haha. One of my first impressions was "man, this game really didn't need a map", but the more I saw it the more I liked it, precisely because it's not made to guide you. It's awesome to recognize the points you've been in the map, even if it's sort of useless before you actually get there.

Made it through North and started East. I wasn't a backer but the game is amazing so far. The North boss wasn't too bad but it did take me awhile.

Missing 2 North fragments, 3 South fragments, half of the keys and six monuments. Thinking about calling it quits and just finish the game, I'm tired D=

Someone was wondering how many outfits there are and they had 8. I just got my 9th and I'm still missing a few keys, monoliths, gearbits, and diamond pieces, and don't have the DLC. I'm pretty sure there's enough to fill the slots (12).

There's 11 outfits. 12th cloak is NG+ and 12th Companion is the back reward.

Yeah that makes sense. I wish I could get the NG+ cloak on my file, that kind of irks me especially when some of the outfits are well hidden or hard to get.

I have been waiting for this to come to the consoles. May have to do this game on my tv via the steam link. The wait is nearly too much to bear.

I get a black screen every time after I load my game, and it's forever. Only solution is to close de game and start it again, so I can get my black screen again.
I'm in OS X btw..

Please some help...

Wow, I'm surprised at how little hype this game has gotten. I first heard about it watching a Good Game quick look a couple of days back and instantly bought it on the visuals alone. I'm blown away by how much I'm loving it so far

Once you defeat all bosses and do the whatever happens in the middle of the town, can you go back to finish collecting stuff or do you gotta do all that before doing the middle tri force thing? I only need 1 corner triangle from north, east and south, 5 keys and 5-6 secret panels or whatever.

Got the makings of a cult classic. Love to be a part of that group.

I wonder if there is anything to the name entry at the beginning. Maybe something similar to Shovel Knight where certain names trigger different events or variables?

Good question, I don't want to accidentally finish the game if I don't have to

You can go back after you beat the game, nothing is permanently missable as far as I know.

Just beat it. What a fantastic game. Pretty challenging but I'm happy with how well I did. Only the west boss took me more than a few tries and that's probably because it was the first one I fought. Also, I defeated the east boss on my first try after it kicked my ass multiple times at PAX last year. That felt good. Excited to jump back in and find more secrets!

Could somone remind me where the 4 triangle door in the East is? I swear it was somewhere around the teleporter but I've been running around in circles trying to find it

Finished the sumbitch.

Visual and style gets top marks. After finishing it and giving the Fez OST another listen, the music is actually a lot like Fez's. I guess that's what Disasterpiece was asked of. :P

Gameplay can be very frustrating at times. Good ideas implemented poorly.
I could never get used to the multi-dash move. In the midst of combat things get too hectic and it's too much to ask of me to also keep track of its weird-ass timing. It never felt right.
The X+A/A+X moves have the strangest input (you have to quickly press one button after the other, not both at once).
Enemies don't seem to telegraph their moves at all most of the time.
I found that the dash-block move was not reliable at all and in fact seemed almost totally random whether it worked or didn't.

Anyway, I liked it overall, and when it clicks it super clicks, but I also felt annoyed quite a few times. I hope the devteam makes another game, and this time at 60fps and with more fluid and responsive controls.

I started new game+. Noticed you only get two squares of health. And with that, I bid this game good-bye.

I feel like we played completely different games. Pretty much every enemy telegraphed their attacks, and multi-dashing is super useful to dodge ranged attacks then get back up close to slash away

Cool cool. Can someone tell me a relatively easy way to do the dash challenge? Its not that hard on controller but highest I have gone to is 335. ):

Quoting myself from a few pages ago...

So I saw a pretty good trick for beating the 800 dash challenge.

-Unplug your controller and switch to m&kb
-Go to the dash challenge, put your character near one of the columns of purple recharge tiles
-Put your cursor on top of the middle of the tiles so that when you press spacebar to dash across, he automatically goes back and forth through the tiles without having to move the mouse.
-Mute the sound and just listen to the rhythm of yourself tapping the spacebar, keep it constant.

It took me a second to get acclimated with dashing on m&kb, but after I did I got it pretty much in a single try. Went up to 1001 just for the hell of it.

South Spoiler
Dat Bullet Hell boss out of nowhere was awesome

Really happy with this Kickstarter. Sure it took a long time, but man it is literally exceeding my expectations.

Not sure if Ys/other games do this, but the health management system is super interesting - Unlike something like Zelda, where by dungeon 7 or 8 you are so hearted up that you can start playing sloppy, the capped system makes even typical encounters feel tense.
