Hyper Light Drifter |OT| We On A HyperLight Beam

Since I couldn't figure out how to do the west gems, I went east and got through and beat the boss on the first try. Kinda grotesque intro to that fight, the art communicates so much.

Any tips on how to get the gems in the west? I still can't figure out how to get one in the zone north of the warp point. I saw it, but I have no idea how to get to it D:

When I use the dpad on my DS4, it just aims.. I have to hold R1 to walk.. is this normal? Wasn't so in the beta

I had that problem with my 360 pad and it was becausr I had another controller plugged in (a fightstick in my case). Someone else in the thread had the same problem.

I''m getting a display driver error whenever I try to boot on my Surface Pro 3. Anyone else have this problem or know what the deal is? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no dice.
A friend is having issues as well. He had dual graphics though so he forced the discrete GPU and it was all good. Let me try on my MacBook, maybe it's an intel graphics issue?

Played it for about 2.5 hours. I dont wanna hyperbolize, but it might well be the best game I've played this year, easily. Dont wanna get ahead of myself, but it really is a total vision.

Is it an Intel driver crash? The game may be running on the wrong graphics adapter. I saw the same problem on another computer and I fixed it by forcing the game to run with the Nvidia adapter instead.

Ok, whos really playing with KB + M? So wierd to use.

Other than that, game is amazing. Undertale, Stardew Valley and now Hyperlight Drifter, indies are on a roll.

First boss finished in about 4 tries. This the type of game where you feel you CAN win. If you lose you feel it's your fault.

Do we know for a fact theres only the 4 areas and then thats it? Maybe there's a dark world version after since the game is zelda inspired afterall ;_;

I just want more of this game

Am I missing something incredibly obvious in that one area in the west with the dudes who shoot you from a side you presumably can't reach? I'm missing the fragment thingy from this dungeon, and I think I've caught a glimpse of it in the room further down, but I've spent hours now with no breakthrough. I "beat" the dungeon and progressed beyond it but can't reach the stupid fragment.

*raises hand* Yeah it's weird, makes some things kinda more difficult than I'd prefer. Hopefully I'll get the hang of dash aiming with the mouse and stop smashing my face on the enemies.

So I backed a high tier and opted to get the ps4 version. Do you get multiple copies for pledging at higher tiers? Because I see the email and I can still download it from steam in the email. Just kinda confused about all of this.

no one can take screenshots right?

wont let me, rhaknar either

how weird

I also can't take screenshots (Steam). Print Screen works but then I have to dump them into paint or photoshop and save that way instead of just the automatic steam stuff.

Just beat the first boss, this game is great. Been a while since iv'e sat down and been completely immersed in a game, as opposed to thinking about another game, or watching youtube videos and playing.

I was playing earlier and I tabbed out to see what time it was and said to myself "ah ok I still got 10 minutes before going to work"

I tabbed back 5 seconds later (or so it felt like) and said "wtf I'm late for work!"

Its one of those games

Pretty amazed so far but only got to play the first 30 minutes or so.

OK fellow Drifters, tough decision time. I've got enough gold chips for another upgrade, but I'm not feeling a clear choice here.

The longer sword slash looks good, but the game is so frantic I'm not sure when I'd use it.

The shielded dodge seems pretty handy, likewise the dodge-slash.

There is also a kind of fencing thrust move, but I'm not really sure what the advantages of that one are (or what differentiates it from the dodge-slash).

Already got the upgraded dash and the projectile reflection move (and one extra health kit slot). Would be interested to hear some thoughts.

The Charge Sword Slash has been incredibly useful in one shotting enemies and taking out chunks of HP off of bosses. It has a surprisingly quick charge time so its easy to throw out whenever an enemy finishes an attack. I'd purchase that one since I've been wiping out bosses and enemies with this charge move aside from alternating between slash, projectile, slash, projectile since slashes recharge your ammo, thus overcoming the cooldown after using your normal combo.

By the way, does anybody know if NG+ is harder?

MUCH harder. You get all Dash and Sword abilities off the bat but you only have two hit points.

You played less than an hour and you think upgrades are too expensive and are already making assumptions about how many you can get? :o

And I thought the game didnt have NG+?

It does.

There are only 4 areas plus the Final Boss

I went with the X + A move. If you're all of a sudden surrounded by a bunch of enemies, I can use that to dash out through them, damage them, then start picking them off.

What's also another great choice is not getting hurt while Dashing. Those are the two I'd go with.

Are the Golden Companion and Weapon DLC and Alternate Drifter in the game already. I've entered the DLC, but I don't see anything.

The charge sword move is great. Kills most enemies in one hit and covers a large area. Just dodge and punish. Also decapitates.

Shielded dodge is useful when you want to close in on enemies with ranged weapons. It does get you out of bad situations where you would take damage otherwise.

The dash stab is interesting. On weaker enemies, it seems to bounce them around, taking more than one damage. On bosses(only used it for one boss so far), when an opportunity opens, using this moves seemed to damage them while also moving your character backward(so you're out of harms way). I need to experiment with it a bit more.

Anyway, I'd go for the charge slash, because it feels good.

Not sure where, probably through Humble page, but the devs mentioned something about wanting to release the game first.

The cosmetic changes are a little buggy but try the computer on the right above your bed.

Sweet that worked, now I'm all blue and purple: thought it only changed my little helper at first I was like seriously that's all?

Hit the pillar behind the shooters, the one with a red line. Use the rifle for easy aiming.
