Hypothetical: Nintendo releases games on PC, but exclusive to own launcher with DRM and no modding. Would you still buy their games?

As a PC player who got into Nintendo games over the last eight years, I have come to realize this company is insane and has such a view of control over its own games that I can imagine giving us what we want in the most backhanded way. So, let's imagine a hypothetical future where Nintendo games come to PC. But, there are the following caveats:
  • Launched at full price, few to no sales
  • Exclusive to their own launcher
  • No official modding support
  • DRM, up to and possibly always online connectivity
We can assume they will be reasonably good PC ports in terms of providing players settings and options, but assume these caveats apply. Would you still want to buy these Nintendo games on PC? Do you think they would do well? I could see myself getting something like a BOTW port on PC for the novelty, but other than that, I don't think these PC releases would be better than something like emulating my own ripped games myself, so for a lot of Nintendo releases I might still end up doing that.

What about you?

Thread's missing a poll.

I wouldn't buy them. Got too many games already to bother with overpriced, full of DRM stuff.

Depends, Can Nintendo brick my PC? :)

If not, then I would buy the Nintendo games on PC as well as double dip on older games.

Are you honestly suggesting that putting their games on PC with their own launcher is "backhanded?" What kind of bullshit is that?

You think that making their games available on PC for people to buy, providing a functioning launcher, but not giving Gabe 30% to buy another yacht company for literally zero reason is "backhanded?" Steam users are a full blown cult.

They would still be end up with:

nope, nintendo has some nice games but not nice enough to warrant that much commitment. Plenty of other nice games at much fairer prices that don't force me into the internet

I don't usually pay full price for digital games, even less so if they'll be $80.
Though I guess I might see myself making an exception for the next 3D Zelda (if it's good).

So I guess I would, but I'd buy like 1-2 games every 10 years.

not for that price. Would only be interested in mario kart and mario party anyway. Maybe pokemon if they managed to do a pokemon game that doesnt look and feel like a gamecube game

to sell them

Nintendo is not satisfied with only selling its own games. They expect to sit back and make passive income from third parties fighting over each other to publish in their walled garden. Which no one will give a shit about without exclusive Nintendo games.

If Nintendo created the situation where they had to fully support themselves by making their own video games, they would probably kill themselves. It sounds like a joke, but I bet there are ninjas ready for this very outcome.

I am suggesting that they would do it on their own terms, rather than meeting the specific demographics of the market. It isn't about Steam, I listed a bunch of things in the OP

The PC market is far too variable to provide a consistent environment for Nintendo games to run on.

Perhaps an old school style Switch 2 PC Card. Like the Megadrive and 3DO ones back in the day.

The only thing even slightly contentious is an always online requirement. They should have their own launcher, and launch for whatever price they feel like. Modding again, is entirely up to them. They probably don't want to do that either considering they are the masters of protecting their IP and don't want to see it diluted with whatever crap people make in their spare time.

I would get them if I was interested, none of that sounds backhanded to me.

I would prefer this over underpowered table, which is actual underhanded method to me.

A full desktop console with extra horsepower to get most of their games would be cool too. But PC launch would be ideal.

I would probably just buy a copy and emulate it instead of dealing with some ass backwards DRM if I was truly inclined but I cannot see a single thing on the horizon that they could release to inspire me to even take the time to set that up. If they were to just release retro library collections without DRM I would be game.

So every third party should kill themselves because they just make money from the 70% from their games??

Nintendo is popular enough that whatever uber epic always online drm solution they come up with would absolutely get cracked unless the game is completely streamed from their own server so that's a whole lot of whatever. And a lack official modding support is irrelevant as there are already mods for their games let alone a hypothetical PC version.

The pricing and lack of sales might be obnoxious but I wouldn't be in a hurry to support them anyways with all their anti consumer dickbaggery. I could wait.

No, I'm saying that it is not Nintendo's wish to lose the cumulative 30% of every last one of them, just to sell a few more copies of a game that they only bothered making to create that situation to begin with.

If they start investing some money in production values and tech, maybe I'll consider it.

If not, I'll keep waiting their games out and (maybe) playing them emulated years after release. It's not like they're releasing them at breakneck speeds, aren't they? And I'm already a couple gen behind on that, lol.

It's like a Zelda and a main 3D Mario every 5-6 years? I'll let people keep buying their overpriced hardware.

And mind you: I bought every Nintendo console up to the WiiU (I don't give a damn about handhelds). I miss the n64 and GC days. Underdog Nintendo is the best Nintendo.
