I consider that there are two types of console/platform warriors:

1. A group that makes fun of the console warring (not so serious) just for the memes and jokes. Some influencers are actually capitalising/doubling down on the warring for clickbait purposes and try to get as many followers as they can. They are actually making money out of this (making rant videos and articles about it lol)

2. Fanboy groups that are toxic, on social media and forums, belittling other peoples' opinions and preferences and insulting others.

I am not endorsing the first group, but they are not as bad as the second one, ALTHOUGH not a fan of either. I could just ignore them, as long as they are not directly insulting me.

While I personally play on Xbox at the moment, I'm happy to admit the things that Sony does well, and the advantages of playing on a PC. There is a reason why I play on Xbox and not PS. To say them isn't warring.

Like Sony has the best third person adventure games. Some Xbox people will say that they are just walking simulators and only get good reviews because they look pretty.
Sony fanboys will say that Gamepass is going to kill the industry and they would never support it. Next minute they are signing up for the PlayStation version and all of a sudden it's crazy value.
You can see it now with Starfield. They went from saying that it would never be exclusive to now it's going to be shit. We all know the only reason they say that is to cope with the situation.

I agree with you OP. In my country you can always resell your console or PC and buy something else and that's what I do. Had 3 xboxes and 3 ps4 pros last gen. Now I have a ps5 and I'm thinking of reselling it after I beat horizon Forbidden West and buying xbox and again buying a ps5 sometimes in the future. I don't understand why lock yourself to any platform. I didn't buy Nintendo because it's not popular, unfortunately, but I'd like to so I could play Mario and other games.

But it's sometimes fun of poking people with light console warring. The problem is you can be labeled as belonging to a certain tribe and then you're doomed

I like the fun warring that we have with forum members, I genuinely like a lot of all members here and the warring seems more tongue in cheek fun to me. There's only a few members on every side that I think are a little delusional and I have started using the ignore button for those.

Maybe, they feel the same about me but overall I think if this green rat sat down with his blue snake buddies IRL we would have a great time!

The thing is, I genuinely rate playstation and have supported by buying every console on launch day, including the 3g vita since I can remember. I've still got my launch day ps1 with the audio out.

I love most of their games and I think others are overhyped but that's just me.

I buy everything day one tbh, and probably started as a Nintendo fan deep down...from the snes days.

PC gaming since my old 486 PC that I would borrow from my step dad's school in holidays and playing classics like monkey island and fate of Atlantis.

I just found that xbox really won me over with the original xbox...I ripped it hard for like a year but once I got one I respected there push for power 640 x 480 resolution and xbox live was a game changer for me who loved PC gaming. Playing online with my mates was awesome.

Overall, I think warring is fun with those that you can get a good vibe that you know they have their preference but they aren't all the way gone batshit with it.

I suppose we all have the ability to cross the line every now and again if baited but I don't think it's too bad now the consoles are out and we can see beyond the marketing hype from all sides and see the reality of the games.

Generalized arguments like these are a big part of the problem. Some Xbox fans call Sony's games "walking simulators". Not all. Some Sony fans think subs are bad for the industry. Did those same Sony fans sign up for the new PS+ subs? I don't know. That's the problem. We just put everyone in a group and made some big assumptions in order to call them all hypocrites. These are the kind of tribalistic arguments that throw fuel on the console war fire.

Not only Sony fanboy dislike it deeply. And I don't think it's fanboystic to say a model like gamepass will kill the console market. Imo. Would be surprising if it won't when it's his real purpose.

"Port begging" is one of the dumbest least accurate phrases in gaming. It's not begging. It's simply a statement of fact, or, at most, a demand. Want my money? Nintendo, Sony, etc. don't hold the cards. PC gamers do. Look at them all getting whittled away. They have almost no so called "exclusives" left. The whole concept of platform owner consoles is a dying 80s relic that will be gone within 20 years.

Release games for the computer I already own or die in a fire. Couldn't care less. Either way, they'll be emulated for free down the road anyway. I'm not bending over and grabbing ankle for your crappy games.

Unfortunately they're just not that good anymore. I could see grabbing ankle and smiling for Super Metroid level games, but most of the console exclusives today "frankly" blow. Haven't been interested in a Nintendo game since Prime 1. When God of War came out for the PC I looked at it and thought, "huh, another crappy console game where 65% of the play time is watching embarrassingly melodramatic cutscenes with bad writing and voice acting."

Oh, I haven't bought a Nintendo console for myself since the 64 with Goldeneye. Playstation exclusives are worth it to me. If they are truly coming within a year starting with the PS6, I may resist getting one.
