DF Retro EX: WipEout ( Anti-Gravity Racing ) Ported To Xbox Consoles - Here's Why We Don't Recommend It

We like to call it WipEout, but not LLS Games apparently! "Anti-Gravity Racing" is available on the Microsoft Store for all Xbox consoles - and PC, actually - and if we had to take our best guess at this, it looks like an emulated version of both WipEout 1 and WipEout 3. Something doesn't seem quite right with this one. John investigates.

00:00 - Introduction
01:27 - New CGI? Uh, No...
03:34 - Not Recommended for Xbox One from 2013?!

Emulation Issues

The review highlights that the Xbox version of WipEout operates with noticeable performance issues, especially on the Xbox One, where the emulator struggles to maintain a consistent frame rate. Users experience various graphical glitches such as texture warping.

Inclusion of Licensed Music

The game features a full soundtrack from the original WipEout titles, which includes licensed tracks. This has raised questions regarding whether the developers, LLS Games, have properly acquired the rights for this music.

Menu Similarities

Upon starting, players encounter a menu reminiscent of the original PlayStation version. This menu, along with visual aspects and effects, strongly suggests that it is an emulation configuration rather than a full remake.

Quality Comparison with Phantom Edition

The video introduces the 'Phantom Edition' of WipEout on PC as a superior alternative. This version enhances the original experience with better frame rates and graphics without legal concerns.

Title Authenticity Doubts

The validity of LLS Games as an authentic developer is questioned, as it appears they may have built their game on existing PlayStation versions while neglecting aspects that fans would expect in modern ports.

This was quite a funny one.

Johns incredulity at the developers emulators blatant, shameless use of emulation and passing it off.

TLDR -
Phantom edition on PC ( Recompilation where you supply the original files )
Xbox Dev Mode - Install retroarch and access the games that way
