The NEED for a stand is indeed minor, especially since it's provided free of charge with the console. But unfortunately the stand is poorly designed. Why for heaven's sake does the damn thing slide, tilt and pivot when you press the eject button to remove a disc?!?
Assuming I'll be able to get one, I'll be upgrading to a major hardware revision (or pro version) as soon as they are released.
Why because we never had a thread on it here? There’s far more PS5 than series x.
Where’s your shit? On his sword?

What gpu? Its an apu. What overheating itsYes because SX has had more time to refine the overheating system, MS hadn't the problem to design a new GPU from the beginning, it was already available.
I guess the extra money doesn’t prevent it either. There’s plenty out there and the Microsoft forum ambassador admitted that plenty of people have this issue and expressed their concern. There are also A Lot less x sold so it would be less prevalent by an overall number. The video I posted wasn’t made with a bionic microphone that picks up sounds nothing else can hear. That’s how you record sounds.because there is tons of evidence that ms invested the extra money to cover the capacitors etc with putty while Sony didn’t. There’s images etc.
also, there’s threads and videos galore and complaints from more or less every person who owns a ps5. If you stand right next to it you can hear it with your ears.
this is not the case with the series x. if you can grab share tons of videos of Xbox series x without a microphone whining like fuck then I might believe you.
there’s also a lot more PS5 in people’s hands than x.But thats why ps 5 is much more likely to have loud whine
At least the N64 didn't need a stand to lay down horizontally.I consider N64 worse in terms of design, it looked pretty horrible IMO.
Edit: Probably an unpopular opinion but I also consider the original X360 worse looking. The slim revision looked great though.
there’s also a lot more PS5 in people’s hands than x.
I agree. It's still an extremely boring design though and unlikely to catch anyone's eye.I think the series X is a great display of taking a bunch of cool tech and blending it into your other stuff.
The Series S is amazing as far as performance/size/shape go.
You can call it yawn, but that's what you want under your TV.
That's a great point.I think its deliberately unwieldy probably designed to make sure you dont stack tons of other shit on top of it and right next to it, in order to ensure airflow.
They could’ve made a better job though.
I guess some of us just read the manual and follow Sony's instructions: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/manuals/#PS5What? There is an eject button?!
I reject discs from menu. No wobble, sliding or anything.
Wtf are you people doing.
Your totally right, but the insanity goes both ways. I had a jet engine ps4pro model and most of the time when I mentioned that aspect people would just respond with "well mine is totally silent, yours must be defective"Im not saying coil whine doesn't exist, but its absolutely NOT affecting every system, and the blatant lie i see thrown around here regularly that "well its on every system you just cant hear it" is complete bullshit. I had to ignore Darkmage a while back because he was one of a few people here that were calling me a liar when i kept saying my system was silent These people that shit all over other consoles because they're unhappy with their Xbox purchase have a mental disorder i think
Damn had to connect two monitors to see the full pictureI have no problems with my PS5.
That's how it is when you mention anything wrong with any console. Someone always pops up with "well mine doesn't do it so it's not a problem and you're lying because you must mistreat your toys" or something stupid. I don't hear coil whine from my PS5 or XSX, but other people do. There's video evidence. Just accept it and sympathize.I guess some of us just read the manual and follow Sony's instructions: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/manuals/#PS5

and? Tzat doesnt change the fact aabout the coil whine . What argument is that even. A lot more what is that anyway. Everything gets sold what hits the market. Its tthat simple. Sony maybe bought higher quantitiies of production. Tsmc is booked for years..

I had a loud pro.at first It really depended on the game I was playing. By the end most games made it loud. Nioh was known for that because the menu had an unlocked frame rate and the fans went crazy. I also had peeling sticks and would replace them every couple of months. I’m sure coil whine exists but everything is susceptible to it. There’s plenty of Reddit posts about series s and x having it and there’s links to complaints on Microsoft’s forums. One of the ambassadors even said it was something a lot of customers expressed concern about. There’s a lot more PS5s sold vs series and even more vs series x so it’s safe to assume there will be more cases on PS5. But it’s not non existent on x or s even. Like sloppyjoe_gamer said I have have to get close to mine to hear anything. I’ve played Ratchet, Returnal the matrix demo and PS5 DCs. I’m pretty sure they push the system enough.I guess some of us just read the manual and follow Sony's instructions: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/manuals/#PS5

meaning more opportunities for coil whine. Regardless of percentages. Less series x means less chances of coil whine or less people that notice. It’s still an issue as I’ve linked.and? Tzat doesnt change the fact aabout the coil whine . What argument is that even. A lot more what is that anyway. Everything gets sold what hits the market. Its tthat simple. I know there is an eject button. It was a sarcasm... oh manI guess some of us just read the manual and follow Sony's instructions: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/manuals/#PS5

That went over my head lolSo was mine.
I don't hear mine standing right next to it. Newest revision CFI-1115B. I also don't hear the XSX at my buddy's house, nor his launch PS5 disc version. His liquid cooled PC beast makes much more noise due to how noisy graphics cards are.also, there’s threads and videos galore and complaints from more or less every person who owns a ps5. Same here. Launch ps5 ear silent. Pc with slow custom fan curves be quiet fans is lot louderI don't hear mine standing right next to it. Newest revision CFI-1115B. So much fudperbole from the wartime embellishments.
I think a patch of double-sided installation tape where the stand touches the body(not the corner of panel) would fix the issue for those who like to slide the console around without lifting it up.About the flimsy stand. There is an invention called duct-tape. Use it. Everywhere. Problem solved.

I feel you man...So I brought my PS5 over to my brother’s to let my ten year old niece check out Ratchet.
I come home to re setup my console and there’s an inch long scratch in the top of the console where the shiny black part is.
Luckily, I have a skin coming in February with my darkplates 2.0 that will cover it….
Huh? What’s flimsy about it. It has a screw, use it.About the flimsy stand. There is an invention called duct-tape. Use it. Everywhere. Problem solved.
I think its that it doesn’t ”lock onto” properly in horizontal position that is the flimsy part. I have mine vertical and its in no way flimsy but not having proper groves on the panel at the back when in horizontal I would agree is kinda stupid because its prone to sliding off.Huh? Ahh, horizontal. Gross.I think its that it doesn’t ”lock onto” properly in horizontal position that is the flimsy part. The only thing I can think of that may explain this is they could only get the supply needed with glossy black.
It's pretty obvious that it's an intentional choice. It's not like that piece of plastic is just off the shelf so they could get it easier. Also the launch ps3 was entirely covered in glossy black plastic and the launch PS4 was half covered in it. Someone at Sony just likes it.
OP is about PS5, not XSX..
