Easily, yeah... the hardware is great, but the games just aren't there.

I miss Japan Studio. This is the biggest lost of Sony this generation. I hope they hire again those developers who use to work for Japan studio to create ps5 exclusies and try to hire legends like Yoko Taro, Shinji Mikami, etc for Ps5 exclusives.

For me yes. I'm pretty much done with Sony and will sell my PS5 if the price goes up and I'll stick with my PS3. But hey who knows, things and people change so in a year from now I could feel a lot different if they put out some actual exclusives I want and wont be on PC.

Otherwise I'm happy with my PC and switch atm.

Easily, yeah... the hardware is great, but the games just aren't there. Partially due to just how the console market has shifted to no longer caring about exclusives, but also due to a shift in the kind of games that Sony themselves make.

For me, PS1 and PS2 are about equally legendary and amazing. PS3 was a huge drop from there, but still a solid generation with a unique identiy. PS4 was the beginning of the end, but still managed to have something that set it apart. It's all over now with PS5. I likely won't be buying a PS6 at launch.
Right !
No one asked Sony to shift their game orientation. I got PS5 primary for single player exclusive story games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, Horizon, Days Gone, God of war etc.
And what I got this generation ?
Remake of Remaster of Remaster of Remake & games I never asked for like Concord, & Marathon.
PS5 console cycle is almost over in 2 years & we have some scraps here & there from Sony game studios.
No real effort to make new IP's or at least resurrect some old IP's like Siphon filter, Socom, Ico, Shadow of Colossus, Wipeout, Okami, Infamous, Killzone & many more.
I'm sad that PlayStation consoles will end like Xbox series consoles next generation.........Last hope will be Nintendo as true bastion of consoles & PC will be a real winner getting Sony & MS games day one.

Well, I can count on one hand the (day 1 exclusive) games I've enjoyed on the PS5.
Almost 4,5 years in, that does not make it a very exciting machine for me.
I'm very happy they're doing PC now though, and if anything the PS5/Xbox series machines have made it very clear that I don't really have much use for consoles anymore (except Nintendo, since they're still not embracing PC)

My only reasons for owning a PS5 Pro now is Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yokai, the new Housemarque and Interstellar, as I won't bother waiting for these to come to PC. Need em' day 1.
But yeah, it's mostly a machine for streaming tv shows and some movies for me most of the time.

Probably not considering how many Microsoft titles it has that it didn't have access to on previous hardware generations

Both of these things are true:

1. This is probably Sony's worst gen for 1st party output
2. The PS5 has the best library of any Sony console ever, and it's not even close

If you wonder why people keep buying Playstation and nobody seems to care about Sony 1st party output, that's why. IMHO Sony consoles never ran on 1st party games anyway...maybe PS3 but Sony has always been the multiplat console. Still are. No console is nearly as powerful as the pro so where else am I gonna play? PC?

PS4 at least had Infamous, Tsushima, Spider-Man 1, Dad of War, Horizon 1, Uncharted 4 and many more other titles.

The only games I enjoyed on PS5 that were first party exclusives have been Astrobot and GT7. Returnal is decent for folks who are into that.

PS5 mainly has been a machine that made PS4 games run better. It's by far the worst generation.

For all the shit folks give PS3 (rightfully so), it had new IPs and bunch of bangers during 2nd half of the generation.

Edit: Scratch off GT7, forgot it was cross-gen 😂.
If you're going to include GoW and Horizon 1 for PS4 you should include Ragnarok and Horizon 2 for ps5...just saying

The newest console still struggle to hit the bare minimum of 60fps in some games, which makes it a last resort after getting used to a good PC and the frames and fidelity it brings.
I use it for stuff where there's no alternative day 1, like Death Stranding 2 (which i'm super excited for)

For me, choosing to play games like Indiana Jones, Black Myth, Cyberpunk or Red Dead 2 on console instead of PC would be like choosing to play older stuff like Witcher 3 and Doom 2016 on the Switch.

I get that but bru they're not that different from one another!
I found the sequels obnoxious from either narrative / boredom (GoW2), terrible story and characters (Horizon 2) and so much DEI and preaching that I noped out and sold the game after a few hours (Spider-Man 2).

Your mileage may vary and it's just my personal opinion. Much like with TLOU I found the original games a head and shoulders above the sequels, especially from character and storytelling perspective. Again, that's IMO though.

Can we get to the end of this gen before answering the question? What if we take out PS4's first party games from 2018-2020? No GoW, no Spider-Man, no Tsushima, no Last of Us 2, no Days Gone, no Death Stranding...how does the PS4 look then? Not very good.

The new narrative " look at them fools enjoying my wife they need her" 😭

Hahaha, what's funny is. Everyone's wife is a gold digger in this industry. As soon as you see your console of preference as your wife you are fucked. More fucked than she is.

She been passing it around to everybody for years anyway.

That's why I have my wife at home and I just fuck with these gaming companies as and when I want.

I don't know where we are going with this but it's kinda entertaining.

If you only count PS5, I guess so. If you count the fabulous ports of PS4 and PS5 ports on PC, then a huge NO.

These Playstation games on PC has been rather well received by both Playstation and PC fans.

But what happens when the collection or a remaster of Halo 3 comes out on PS5?

Either way there was no Halo equal on PS2 & PS3 but a Halo game could easily get lost in the crowd on PS5.

I don't usually count ports and remakes when counting why a gen is so amazing but alright

You must be joking? They're absolutely smashing it with releases like Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War, Sea of Thieves, Indiana Jones and Oblivion Remastered.

For the first time since forever I for sure wont buy a sony console at launch (ps6) .. I guess this says it all. They will have to heavily change course to make my next machine dont be a PC since I dont give two fcks anymore about their exclusives.
