PS5 without a doubt

1. More expensive games!
2. Less top tier first party content.
3. More give us your money "NOW" and we might fix it later B.S from developers!
4. Vaporware A.I. store content.
5. Price increases of old hardware throughout the industry as a whole!
6. Memba remakes garbage...!!!

This poll is probably much better at predicting the average age of voters, rather than the quality of games released during the respective time periods.

If it's just for first party output. Which i kinda have to grade these things on because I always own all platforms, I souls put it down to ps4 or ps5.

You could toss it up due to some much cross gen games. So maybe you say os5 as its the second console that's having a lot of these remasters and poor first party output imo.

Except returnal. But one great game can't save a gen, so far.
PS4 at least had Infamous, Tsushima, Spider-Man 1, Dad of War, Horizon 1, Uncharted 4 and many more other titles.

The only games I enjoyed on PS5 that were first party exclusives have been Astrobot and GT7. Returnal is decent for folks who are into that.

PS5 mainly has been a machine that made PS4 games run better. It's by far the worst generation.

For all the shit folks give PS3 (rightfully so), it had new IPs and bunch of bangers during 2nd half of the generation.

Edit: Scratch off GT7, forgot it was cross-gen 😂.

This is where I am at. PS5 is Astro Bot and Returnal in 5 years for me.........

That says it all.

EDIT: Sorry, can't forget Demons Souls. so 3 games in 5 years.

Yep. I don't foresee myself buying a PS6 (or PS5 Pro). PC is going to be mainly it plus Switch 2 down the line.

I am still keeping XSX and PS5 for BC though.

I just picked up a PS5 Pro and I'm in the process of selling my PS5's to cover the cost. With the way this gen has gone I expect ill be able to play most games cross gen with my PS5 pro for a few years of PS6 and then make a decision on if I need one at all.

PC and Switch 2 seems like the best bet.

I reserve judgement about PS4 & PS5 since I don't game on them.
That leaves me with PS3 as the black sheep. That's where the innovation slowed down and development started taking 3-5 years instead of 9 to 11 months. Image quality/detail became more important than framerate and it ushered in a slew of 30fps games.

This one for sure, but it's not done. The best PS4 games came in the last 3.5 years or its lifetime. PS3 also got some or the very best from late 2010-2013. PS2 also got games like GoW,1-2 and Shadow of the Colossus late in its life.

PS3 easily.

If you get the console today its a really nice console but back then it was a hard sell for me compared to what xbox 360 was offering and doing.

PS4 still had a lot of exclusive titles that would make me get the console: Monster Hunter World, Yakuza, Persona 5, Bloodborne... Doesn't seem to be the case with the PS5 at all, so between that and their "gaas up the ass" strategy I have to vote for the PS5.

edit: I never owned a PS3 but that one had lots of cool exclusive titles, even first party, so what's the issue with that one? The games' performance?

We´re living in the worst PS era currently. i´ve had PS5 for 2 years and most of the games i´ve played on it, are just improved PS4 games, except for Dead Space remake, DB Sparking Zero and Ratchet and Clank Drift Apart. In fact, that last one is the only game which i kinda felt a proper "next gen experience" when played it, and it´s a launch game!

When you consider Playstation mainstays like Motorstorm, Metal Gear, Ridge Racer all cease to exist on the world's most powerful console (PS5/Pro), (and I don't count the re-painted MGS3 as a new entry) it makes you appreciate the PS3 days more....(forgot to add Resistance in there too)

PS5 easily.

Every console, bar the PS3, felt like it's better than the last. In all cases the cool exclusives kept the hype going.

The PS5 generation made it nearly impossible to keep a physical collection, censored more games than Nintendo, pulled the brake on cool exclusives in favour of uncool predatory mental illness simulators, blamed us for not buying them, raised the price of basic online play to the roof, doubled the price of a pro model that didn't work properly, sold faulty controllers that all drifted, offered insanely pricey controllers as a solution to make you re-buy the parts that malfunction instead of fixing them, killed the company's best studio, only for it's leftovers to make the best Goty contender, their biggest successes were accidental....
...And the generation isn't even over yet.

There is little point in sticking with this cluster fuck, so I'll take my losses and move to Steam.

I'll join the dog pile on the 5 era. Not the 5th itself, but the number of games ruined, the direction of series, missing games I want, the constant price increases, the never ending push to extract more and give less, and the lack of true competition. It hasn't been all bad at all, there has been loads of great stuff like older games getting 60 fps patches and enhancements that increased the life span of games I I've really liked that

In terms of exclusives definitely Ps5.
Sony first party has become almost irrelevant to me this gen. Out of all the stuff they have announced only Death Stranding 2 has me excited, and that isn't even a proper first party.
My Ps5 is basically a third party machine until I can afford a decent PC.

As an overall machine probably Ps3 though. It had stronger first party, but most of the third party stuff ran like ass. The system always felt slow and unresponsive too, towards the end of that gen it felt like it struggled to even run the PSN store.

PS5. But the problem is not the console itself, it's the whole gen. Sony (and Microsoft) not developing games the community want, PLUS, developers keep release the games on old gen. Fucking hell, it's 2025 and they still release most games on PS4 / XBO

This is an odd answer -- but possibly PS2? (Not because I didn't like the PS2 era, but because I was probably playing Xbox and GC more .... ? If that makes sense?)

PS3, while the most "inferior" era, still was used quite a bit.

PS4 at least had Infamous, Tsushima, Spider-Man 1, Dad of War, Horizon 1, Uncharted 4 and many more other titles.
Tsushima released during the 7th year of the PS4, Spiderman and God of War during the 5th year

And they all got or are about to get a sequel on PS5 already in its 5th year.

I was primarily on PC in the 90s (as in I had a console but rarely used it). The PS1 looked like complete garbage if you went from PC to PS. And the games I wanted on PS1 game over to PC anyway. It's the one Sony console I played the least of. I have one today and still hate it lol

PS5 hands down. I've had every single PlayStation system. Had 4 and 5 since launch and at this point Sony has a lot of work to do to convince me to even consider a PS6.

Fromsoft has been carrying PlayStation since the PS3. If it weren't for their games none of the last three generations would have been particularly impressive.

PS2 era for me. I just couldn't get into it despite a couple of megaton games such as Silent Hill 2, Okami, Haunting Ground, FF12 and Shadow of the Colossus. It was such a letdown from the glorious PS1 era and I was so angry that Sega threw in the towel with the Dreamcast. I also had personal issues that kept me from enjoying video games at this time so I factor in that too. I have begun appreciating PS2 at older days though, rediscovering all the classics.

I would rank thr different Playstation eras like this, from best to worst.

PS1
PS3
PS4
PS5
PS2

PS3 had me feeling like gaming wasn't for me anymore.

The generation was dominated by a bunch of western developers stumbling to figure out how to create a more "cinematic" experience while ignoring gameplay and any color that isn't grey or brown. Meanwhile Japanese developers lost their identity and tried to chase western trends.

Easily, yeah... the hardware is great, but the games just aren't there. Partially due to just how the console market has shifted to no longer caring about exclusives, but also due to a shift in the kind of games that Sony themselves make.

For me, PS1 and PS2 are about equally legendary and amazing. PS3 was a huge drop from there, but still a solid generation with a unique identiy. PS4 was the beginning of the end, but still managed to have something that set it apart. It's all over now with PS5. I likely won't be buying a PS6 at launch.
