Yep, and I'm kicking myself in the ass for not jumping on it. Pulled it up and saw the pre-order and decided to do some stuff around the house and verify my parts list and then order and when I came back it was on Auto Notify.

Oh well, I've waited this long I can keep waiting. Plus I would think they won't be so hard to find after the first few shipments show up.

The only reason I knew about Frys was some peoople at [H] picked it up from there. Some dude even posted a Frys inventory lol. Went to check it out yesterday and the guy showed me that they had 2 on their way and should be here today. It wasn't even in their system. I had to give the guy the model number.

Same thing today. They knew what I was talking about but had to get it from the back. The scene when I was being checked out was funny. Tons of Frys workers in that area gathered around it and were talking and looking at it. Guess it's because I buy most stuff like this online but it took me by suprise.

Saw this post and was thrilled to stop at Microcenter on my way back from my GF's place.

Unfortunately, no luck. Probably good; I just splurged on some new boots and need a new pair of headphones still. Damn I'm jealous though. Post impressions!

They did have this guy....

Fortunate to have a Microcenter and Frys within 15 minutes of each other :p.

Speaking of which, Smokey, are you selling your other monitors? I *might* be interested in the Dell and Samsung.

Definitely not the Dell. I love that guy. Maybe the Samsung...need to give it another go whenever my GPU gets back.

I do need to start moving monitors out of here though..

Now i actually live in Belgium and i don't think that any of those companies ship to here so i copied the list to Tweakers which is basically the same as pcpartpicker but lists shops that ship to Belgium.

http://tweakers.net/gallery/614472#tab:wenslijst

So im planning on moving the pc each week from house to house so that's why it's a small case, im not sure if there is a better option but i really like the look of this one.
Im able to get the RAM for free but im not sure if it's good enough, i don't remember the name but they're 4GB each and have "PC3-12800" written on them.

My budget is around the 900 euros, am i good to go or should i change a few parts ?

I'm not too certain that strategy/rts games are going to adopt a multi-core approach to design until they get on the DX12 bandwagon. Unlike console games, they aren't faced with CPUs that have super low IPC but 8 cores. Given that there's no room for ports either way here, I'd imagine things will continue on as they have been instead. Until then, a highly clocked dual core is going to outperform a low clocked quad like the 4460.

If, somewhere down the line, more cores/threads are needed, then the PC is in good shape for a simple 4690K/4790K upgrade while still being able to use the Z97 chipset to further enhance performance.

With the current consoles being so PC like in their architecture though, isn't it possible that Multiplatform engines will start to be more and more multi-threaded which could impact the PC port?

My thoughts on it as well. Don't want to be the first to get any new thing anyway. Would always rather get reports on the quality and what not of the screen before buying it.

What's Dirty Bomb? I need some PC games to try out since this will be my first experience. I have the steam account and everything ready with no GPU :(
Yeah pls explain guys
What's dirty bomb? And I want one of Smokey's monitors too
From the people who made Enemy Territory, RtCW, Quake Wars, and Brink.

TF2 classes and objectives meets UT/Quake movement with mostly CS style guns. TTK is high and ADS exists but isn't very helpful. Plus wall jumping.

It's still under NDA, Open Beta soon. I'll just say that yesterday was my longest continuous gaming session outside of a LAN in a looooooooong time. And I can't wait to get back home.

Perhaps, but it's pretty uncommon for RTS and Strategy games to use widely available engines. They're mostly one-off stuff.

Wowzoz that is cheap !! If I bought this, would there be anything I wouldn't be able to run ?

As an HTPC, It'll be just fine at 1080p. It'll be able to game at 720p and med to low settings as well. This would be a great HTPC and a decent Steam Streamer with some gaming potential.
You could go with a larger, less HTPC friendly case, a Pentium Anniversary, and a dedicated GPU as well, but the dGPU will bring the cost up.

I got a key for dirty bomb. Obvisouly closed beta but I liked it! Requires a lot of teamwork

I'd like to hear more about this. If it's something I've hated in a lot of modern shooters it is needing ADS to have accuracy and it slowing you down.

hm, I'm not sure how I'm going to be using this HTPC - but I know I don't want to be limited by hardware constraints ..

How does this look ?

Any recommendations on a CPU cooler or PSU?
If you are going APU, at least get the quad core. The 120GB Crucial mx100 is a cheaper SSD that's still a quality part, and you're gonna want the fastest RAM you can get for the APU's GPU. (Not 1333)
Agree on ram speed bump and small price jump to quad.

SSD is msata for ITX :)
Gotcha, I didn't realize. Thank you. Not all ITX boards use mSATA, though, right? Look at the one listed below.

If you're set on the ~$600 price range, this should work for you.

This CPU will run circles around the one you selected and it can overclock to around 4.4 on the stock cooler, this low profile cooler should get it to around 4.7. The 260X will make sure you're able to game on it if you want to. All for around $600. The case has to be bigger due to the discrete GPU. This will work as a phenomenal HTPC and great budget gaming PC. If you decide you want to convert it to a more capable PC later, the board will take an i7 and the case is a perfect candidate for the new R9 285 compact from Sapphire.

I'll get that as soon as NVIDIA hurries up.

Edit: I applied for the Beta anyway. So if I get a key I'll give it out to someone here.

Oooofffff. That or the Gigabyte SOC? Decisions decisions.

Actually, looks like it has a PLX chip given the heatsink above the PCI-E slots. Mebbe not. That board probably runs $400.

Downers grove?

Not sure what this is?

Wow...looks amazing.

Shame I'll be paying off student loans for the next 10 years. Damn you law school!

The Llama....you are one of us. Where did you experience the torture known as law school...? UK Law class of 2013 baby! Go Cats!

Also, I am from Downers Grove. Downers Grove North High School Class of 1992 baby! Go Trojans!

I have my birthday coming up and I should get around $100 or little over that. What is a good AIO water cooler in the $90-$110 price range?

It looks like the PCB on that ASRock board would break if you breathed on it heavily.

And yeah, lack of M.2 on a "Deluxe" is a bit odd. I wonder what's up with that.

Nah, that has fancy features like (seemingly good) onboard audio and WiFi. I'd imagine the WS is still coming.
Makes sense. I guess waiting a little longer to see the full lineup is expected. I probably can't upgrade until October, should give this stuff time to shake out, plus Maxwell (please...).

Yeah. I hope some manufacturer has a not quite so high end board with 2 M.2 slots positioned like that. Seems to make perfect sense to me, who wants to put PCIe cards that close to each other anyway.

I really like the idea of adding a TB or two of >1 GB/s SSD space to my system in the not-too-distant future without taking up any extra space in the case or needing any cables.

Oh lawdy.

Does anyone have a G sync monitor?

The VG248QE with module doesn't have HDMI in listed on the Nvidia website. I googled "G sync hdmi" and there's a thread on the net where people aren't sure if you can use the HDMI port after the G sync module is installed to run consoles and stuff. Now I'm paranoid that it won't even work if I go to the extra effort of getting the thing shipped in from the US.

Do the HDMI/DVI etc ports become non functional when G sync is installed on a VG248QE? Does anybody have one? I'm scared someone please hold me.

As mkenyon has told you twice. Yes. Display port only

The other ports are removed and I only have the single display port.

That X99 board sure would like nice with my white PSU cables and my white accented fans in my Air 540...

it sure would..............

So I've been planning my dream build, haven't committed to any parts yet nor am I set in stone in what I will get but I have just noticed that my current plan has over $330 in just fans

I may need to scale back...

Well hopefully in the time from when the Haswell-E releases and when the 800 series cards release, I'll have all the information I need to make my final CPU/Motherboard decision.

Dropping $200 on Noiseblocker eLoops is something that I never ever regret.

$300 though? WTF mate. You buying some out of stock Gentle Typhoons or something?
