What's your overclock?
I had it at +55mv with power limit +35% @ 1111 mhz core. Strangely, at stock speeds VRM 1 hits 95'c easily, while VRM 2 hovers around 70-80. The card itself performs as expected though.

I'm trying to bring a laptop back to life----a Compaq CQ62. It gets to the windows logo then just sits there. So then I re-installed Windows, and it got to the OS. Then I brought it home from work, and next time I go to boot it got stuck on Windows logo again. So then I swapped out another hard drive just to test, and went to install and it gets part way through windows install then tells me installation files are corrupt. So then I tried a different Windows install disc....same issue. Side note....each time I go to install, it installs at a different pace. Sometimes it takes forever just to load to the installation, and other times it jumps right in. So now I'm thinking the RAM has an issue? So I ran MemTest overnight, and no errors. At this point, I'm not sure what else it might be.

Would anyone know what the temperatures should be for an idle i5 3570k on watercooling with an NZXT Kraken X61?
I'm getting an avg of 32-38 degrees with 65% fan speed in a push pull configuration with two Noctua fans and two stock fans... I did just install this yesterday. I don't want to max the fans out as it makes my computer sound like a lawn mower.
Also, anyone with experience know how long it takes for the CPU cooler to settle? I think I still have some air running through mine and it makes these funny little noises...

It depends entirely on your ambient temperature. What's the temperature at in the room?

Got my Hyper 212 in, and god what a pain to put in. I didnt know when to stop tightening the screws. I basically did it until the cooler didnt move anymore.
Temps seem good though so I think its fine. The G3258 is at 4.4GHZ at 1.29V and temps while gaming are usually in the mid 50s range and spike up for a second or two to like 65 and then go back down.

well I don't have a thermometer, but I've got all the windows open and Google tells me its 72 degrees Fahrenheit out.
Putting coolers on is the most difficult part of building a PC for me.
Sometimes shit works flawlessly, other times, it's completely shit.
Okay I think I finally settled on this setup, very open to opinions. I am looking for some long term life out of the box, may OC after some time, but no hurry, plan on using the machine to stream to other parts of the house as well, and play games and try to get in to other media stuffs.
I could up the Ram for another Hundred, but was also considering dropping to a 4690K too.
Going to add an MX100 SSD later down the road too.

Your phone frequently has an ambient temp sensor. Those temps are in line with typical aftermarket air coolers. Is it overclocked? 32C is ~90F so you're not going to see a whole lot lower than that. If it's 72 outside it's probably going to be a few degrees warmer inside due to the heat from your PC.

Its not over clocked. I'm comfortable with mid 30's if that's where its expected to be when its idle. I was just imagining something in the mid to late 20's with a push pull configuration on a non oc'd system.

I have an idling temp of 33-35c since it's summer and it's hot over here, but in the winter I usually get 22-25c.

A little over a year ago, I was on the hunt for a top-of-the-line case. I scoured Corsair and CoolerMaster's sites, but everything was plastic. I finally ran into Caselabs, and talked to mkenyon about them for a bit - really liked what I saw, but a bit too "refrigerator" for me. That's when (I think) he introduced me to the PC-V7. That black and red interior immediately called to me... and he even had a coupon which pushed me over the edge.
Beautiful, beautiful case. And the build quality is truly in a league of its own. I've worked with several Lian-Lis in the past, and never run into any this well built. I've only seen one completed Case Labs computer in person, and it was probably about the same build-wise.. but certainly not better.
For $500, I had some complaints... some things weren't thought out that great; routing is a bit tough, the back panel is a bit too tight for cabling, they forgot my front I/O ports, they charge you more for black feet... little things, but kinda nagging at half a grand. For $225? Buy it. It's absolutely the best case you can buy under $300... not a doubt in my mind.

That V8 for $300 seems like an f-ing steal.... I almost want to buy it for my next build; cause the next build, I'm going completely over the top, I think... assuming my budget and my time can afford it.

ALSO, my PC can't sleep. If I put it to sleep, when it wakes up, it freezes, and the sound goes crazy, and I have to restart it.
ALSO, ALSO, when I had Win7, in the Action Center, I got a notification that I needed to download a PSU driver for the mobo, and I did, and the freezing continued to happen. Still does in 8.1.
I have an AMD GPU if that is of any significance.

Try doing memtest maybe see if your ram is bad
Which form of AA? Which game? Down sampling from what resolution to what resolution?
There's no real answer to this question. You can't blanket compare image quality across all games and AA methods.
To heavily generalise though, downsampling (also known as super-sampling) gives some of the best overall results. Not least because it affects all pixels. Some analytical techniques, like MSAA, do not operate on all kinds of aliasing and can't affect all parts of the scene.
The methods that give the best results utilise super-sampling (such as SGSSAA), but these also have the highest performance penalty. They are also rarely implemented in the games themselves. I think SGSSAA is only possible with a NVIDIA GPU and only possible to force on for a subset of games.

Yeah, I meant this question in the most general basic way. The specific game in this matter is The Witcher 2. The stock AA option is limited (just "on" or "of") and I was wondering if I should downsample or force more AA through the control center. What would be the way to go?
I read somewhere that the TW2 ubersampling is 4x SSAA. I barely get 30 fps with that enabled so I won't be able to downsample that far. My native res is 1920 x 1080, so does that mean ubersampling makes TW2 render at 7680 x 4320?
As far as my understanding goes, yes, 4x SSAA at 1920x1080 will run the game at 7680 x 4320 internally. I don't know the game myself, but there's a NVIDIA tweak guide for it here.
According to the page on AA, the built in technique is a custom form of post-AA and the game is "incompatible with traditional Anti-Aliasing such as that forced through your graphics card's control panel.".
So, the in-game post-AA, SSAA or forced downsampling through the NVCP are your only options for this game it seems.
An effective technique with a lot of games is to combine downsampling with a post-AA solution. You could try moderate downsampling from whatever your GPU and monitor can manage and leaving the game's post-AA enabled.

Just finished and no problems were found. I've reinstalled Win7 several times, and I just updated to 8.1 but the problem still consists.
EDIT Also, I read your post as "try the memetest" and I thought you were rusing me.
Tighten till the screws stop, they hit metal and you cannot tighten anymore.
Have you tried updating the BIOS?
Sleep issues are usually due to software, but problems on wake up are usually hardware.
After a fresh install, what drivers and software did you install before testing sleep?

Either use the CD that came with the motherboard to install LAN / network adapter drivers or go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and find the LAN drivers for your model of motherboard (copy to a flash drive and install on your new PC).
Once installed you should be golden.
EDIT - I did a quick search on your previous posts, if you went for the Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H here are the LAN drivers for...

Do not use the CD, use it as a last resort. The drivers are out dated and likely have some inherent issues as a result.
Get the latest drivers from the board manufacturers website, or if its an Intel LAN then the Intel site.

For GPU drivers I'd agree and while it is best practice to get the latest drivers from the manufacturers website I have yet experience any issues from using the on CD LAN drivers. Ever.
The drivers on the disc for his ethernet adapter will be perfectly fine to get it working. Once he's done that he can always connect to the internet then and update his drivers.
If you could fill out the questionnaire in the OP (under the Builds section) and post that, quoting what you've done here, that would be most useful!
