Kinda unsure if I should post this here or the keyboard thread.

I am looking to get a new keyboard and mouse. I know I would like a keyboard with the brown switches but I am unsure what the be keyboard and mouse combo for gaming would be. I have been leaning towards a more mmo type mouse as I have started to get back into playing mmo's. I do all my gaming on pc now so would like a good keyboard and mouse to do this on.

Anyone any advise on what I should maybe go for? I have a max budget of around £200

Any one know if the Playstation 3D monitor is any good with a PC? I have had it in the box for like 2 years and never use the damn thing. Its 204HZ and I'm pretty sure it's a VA panel.

I wish the simulview was more widely supported in TVs. I'd love to be able to play games while my wife watches TV on the same TV..

For a keyboard, I would go with the the Corsair K70 or K95. If you wait they're coming out with revised versions in less than a month that are RGB. For MMO mice, I would go with the Razer Naga, Corsair M95, or Logitech G600.

Gigabyte employee leaks Nvidia's GeForce GTX 880 and 870 release date and specs; GM204 GPUs in October?

Earlier this month, there is much speculation that Nvidia will finally release their much-awaited GeForce GTX 800 series. Although the release date is shrouded in secrecy, it has been accidentally confirmed by a Gigabyte employee at the ChinaJoy Game Developers Conference that Nvidia will release the Nvidia GeForce GTX 880 and 870 next month, TechSpot reported.

According to the executive, which was interviewed by Expreview, he said that most of the speculated specs of the upcoming cards were correct. It was whispered in technology circles that the GTX 880 and 870 cards would be coming in with a 3,200 CUDA core, 5.7 TFLOP/s single-precision floating-point throughput, 256-bit GDDR5 memory, 4 GB standard memory, 32 ROPs, 200 TMUs, and a Maxwell architecture, as listed in Tweak Town. However, the Gigabyte employee's revelation was said to be the most interesting in graphic cards, as the new cards were said to only use 28 nm GM204 silicon instead of the rumored 20 nm GM204.

But the employee also added that Nvidia is already working on a 20 nm 204 version that will be released sometime in early 2015 and is hoping to bridge the transition of other graphics cards to 20 nm 204. This is, although good news for PC enthusiasts looking to get more power for their rigs especially with the addition of the great improvement using the Maxwell architecture, the predicted dates were a bit off as to what KitGuru has based off information in the Zauba.com database. Zauba, which monitors Indian exports and imports, indicated that the GM204 cards where shipped to the developers in early June. The shipping dates suggested that the GTX 880 and 870 cards based on GM might be released earlier instead, probably a late September or an early October rollout.

Whether this is reliable or not, it still begs the question, after Nvidia launches 28nm GTX 880 and 870 this fall, how long will it be until 20nm versions of the GM204 arrive on the market, and also, the timing of Big Maxwell cards like a Titan II and a GTX 980?

2015 will be a big year for PCs with Windows 9, DiectX12, Unreal Engine 4 games, and perhaps even a consumer Oculus Rift late in the year.

I was thinking of getting the Naga mouse but I dont want a Razer keyboard. I kinda want the keybaord and mouse to be the saem brand if I can. The K70 has been the one I have been looking at in regards to the keyboard so might go for the Corsair M95 mouse if I do. When should the revised versions of them come out like any dates or anything?

It's already available for pre-order on Newegg.com. Although I believe it's only Cherry Red switches at the moment. They said that Blue and Brown switches would be out shortly after. It'll be worth the wait, so I'd just wait if I were you. I know I'm really looking forward to getting one.

I had planned on building my new PC next week and ordering a 770 for $300... Should I wait for the 870? How much do you guys think it'd be?

870. Probably around the same price.

My tip: If you decide to order the 770, buy EVGA, register your card, use their Step-Up program whenever the 870 releases. Step-Up is good for 90 days, you just pay the shipping and the price difference of what you paid for the 770 and what the 870 will cost.

Yeah did a little searching into the K70 RGB (bit limited as I am in work) and I think I am sold on it :). Seems that its only in the US you can pre-order it just now which sucks. So will pair the K70 RGB with the M95 mouse and I think I am sorted.

Thanks for the advice.

300€ for a 870 would be amazing but probably too good to be true. 400-450 and 500 for the 880 is more likely.

I have the QPAD MK85 with brown switches and it is awesome for both typing work and gaming. There are three models, 50, 80 and 85 and they "only" differ in added features. The 85 has nkey rollover via usb, the others via PS2 IIRC.

What is the consensus here on when we'll see 20nm 'Big Maxwell' in cards like the next Titan and a GTX 980 ?

Q1 2015 ? Q2 2015, or later in 2015 ?

I suppose I was considering it because I would have nothing else to do with the 660, so I figured I'd put it to some use, and get like 5-20% gains in performance out of games that use it heavily, like the Metro series.
I tried it with a 780 ti and a 750 ti boost and almost no change was noticeable.

I expect a 880ti in March-April 2015. The 900 series will most likey release fall 2015/Q1 2016.

Finally got my case running almost as quiet as I would like.

Bought a couple sets of Akasa rubber mounting pins for my case.

They have made a massive difference and im very happy with them.

However, I still hear a noticeable whirr even now. After eliminating any other sources of noise, im thinking of insulating the case itself.

Im looking at this

But I have a few questions.

How effective is this stuff? What kind of reductions can I reasonably expect?

How much will this raise the temperature of my rig? Right now my PC generally idles about 38c and hits low 50s under heavy gaming loads.

I reckon I can sacrifice 5c to make it quieter, but anything more is a no go.

As always, any help is extremely appreciated.

Does the price include a monitor? keyboard? mouse?

Oh man, pre-built prices are really inflated...

I can't in good conscience suggest anything that I'm finding prebuilt at that price for video editing.
Are you sure you don't want to build one?

Anyone else have any ideas?

Edit: Maybe this and upgrade to 16 GB RAM when you are able?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...p=&AID=10446076&PID=6146836&SID=1hu5imjlh7vhu

...but the reviews don't instill a lot of confidence in the build quality. You could probably do a better job...

thanks for the recommendation I asked what she was gonna use, she plans on using windows movie maker and audacity for podcast I don't think those are too demanding either way looking around I think I'll take your advice and get one build from the ground up thanks

Important to note that even if you buy an EVGA card thats OC'd or has a special cooler, the upgraded card you receive is an EVGA equivalent of the NVIDIA reference design card,

Though my 7970 is still fine and does a great job, I've been waiting on the 880 to come out. Since I bought a VG248QE a few months ago I've been wanting to use G-Sync, plus to have an Nvidia card for Arkham Knight and the Witcher 3. Wonder if it will be worth waiting for the 20nm version though...?

I also need to replace this noisy HD with a 1 TB SSD for all my games.

First off... PCI-E SSD.... wut?? Why not SATA3?

Second, I am trying to make this build for my GF:

Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150
Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" SSD
Power Supply: Rosewill 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
Video Card: EVGA GTX 570 (my old card)
Case: Apevia X-Dreamer 3 Mid-Tower (Her current case)

What Intel CPU should I get her? The most I am looking to spend on the CPU is $180.00

I don't think its worth it. With good fans and proper fan settings you don't hear the fans unless the cpu/gpu are working hard and then the padding barely makes a difference.
But this is just from my experience, and maybe the R4 acoustic padding just suck.

Why not? I think they are not limited by the bandwidth limitations since that is the case with SATA 3. I doubt you'll notice and I am not sure if there are any other benefits, but it doesn't hurt.

You're most likely right. I forgot what the original MSRP was, and was thinking of the post price-cut.

Would the increase in performance be worth the extra $100-150? Or is getting a $300 770 the better value?

I'm leaning towards just getting the 770 instead of relying on rumors. If the 870 does come out soon, and it's awesome, I'll look into that EVGA thing. The ACX 770 EVGA is $299 right now and that seems like a solid deal.

The 870 and 880 will come out in October. I suggest you to wait. The 870 should be 25% faster in games and come with 4GB of GDDR5 by default.

Hmm, ok... One concern is I've already ordered my PSU. It's a 600w, could I expect to still be fine with an 870 on that or is there a chance that the 870 could use significantly more power?

Oh dear this is kind of distressing. My computer's Blue Screened on me twice, once yesterday and once today. First time was when I tried opening up an .exe file that I didn't realize my AntiVirus was in the process of deleting, and the second time was when I left it on to go out while I was downloading/installing a game.

I can't seem to pinpoint the cause for it. Any advice on how to deal with them or should I contact Microsoft Support?

Usually the blue screen will give some sort of info about what caused it, be it a driver or memory error or something. Is it just rebooting immediately or is the blue screen staying up for you to read?

If its rebooting immediately, you can turn that off and have it stay up so you can find out what's causing that. Google search. I don't remember offhand where that is. Somewhere in the system properties.

You will be fine. The 870-880 will not be more power hungry than the 700 series. Actually word on the street is that they will draw less power (200watts).

What PSU model have you bought just to be sure ? 600w does not tell the whole story.

So, a question about SSDs. Ideally, I'd like a relatively small SSD (256mb) to save money. I'd only want Windows, BF4, and maybe 1 or 2 other games that'll fit. The rest I'd like to use a HDD.

Is this feasible? Can I have one game from Origin and 1 or 2 game from Steam be on an SSD, and everything else be on an HDD? Do these programs allow this? I'd also worry about the default program files, my documents, etc all being on the Windows SSD when I'd prefer them to be in the HDD.

Guys with SSDs, what say you?

This one.

I was told previously in this thread that it'd be fine, just a bit annoying since it's non-modular. I got a great deal on it though.

I think you guys have probably convinced me. I'll build my PC on schedule in a couple of weeks (My dad is leaving on a long trip soon, and the plan was to build it with him before he left) just without a video card until the 870 hits.

I'll just play Indie games on integrated graphics and Destiny on PS4 until it comes out, haha.

It was up the first time but I don't know about the second. I ran a problem diagnostics and Googled the files that were listed, the answer I seemed to get was that it was a memory error of some sort.

If you are going APU, at least get the quad core. The 120GB Crucial mx100 is a cheaper SSD that's still a quality part, and you're gonna want the fastest RAM you can get for the APU's GPU. (Not 1333)

which quad core would you recommend? AMD A8-5600k? I have no idea here o_o

That's exactly what we recommend everyone do

If it's leading you to believe it's a memory error, trying running memtest86 and see if something shows up. You might have a bad stick or something :(

Excellent PSU, nothing you have to be worried about.
Smart move, a 870 will be worth the price and your wait.

If you're going APU, an A8-6600 or a low cost A10(if one can be found). If you don't mind having a marginally larger case, you could go with the a Pentium Anniversary Edition and an R7 260X for a great little HTPC with plenty of mid level gaming grunt for around the same price. I included a part list in the post you replied to. It's the best bang for the buck I could come up with and that case listed is still very small.
