Today i grabbed a k65 lux rgb keyboard and an m65 mouse.

I need to stop spending money. This 1000 dollar build turned into much more. I'm happy all around though.

Looking good. Congrats!

Any opinions on LG 27UD68P-B? The price on mass drop is pretty good and the shipping to where I live is cheap. I really want to get an ultrawide screen though, but I'm waiting for OLED/higher resolution ones to come out eventually so the ridiculous shipping price will be worth paying.

My knowledge about monitors is fairly limited, and any suggestion is welcomed :)

Anyone? :(

I just plugged in my tv to my Nvidia gpu via HDMI then opened Nvidiacontrol panel and presto it recognizes both and gives options to set one or other as primary or one can mirror two .

So great I fire up gta vice city and bam it opens on monitor but nothing happens on tv ... It still shows desktop. Switch primary display, same thing ...mirror 1 and 2 same thing ... Yet if you press identify displays it shows 1, 2 on the respective screens.

What am I doing wrong? How do you control what opens on what display

Possibly dumb question time

Is this: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/bwcMnQ/msi-motherboard-b150igamingproac

The same motherboard as this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01APM2VU4/?tag=neogaf0e-20

And if so, why isn't Amazon listed on the PCPartsPicker page for it? I was just about to buy this motherboard from Newegg when it sold out. I can still get it from Superbiiz but I've read horror stories about their service.

The Amazon link SEEMS like it's the exact same thing, but I'm afraid to buy it without 100% confirmation that it will work, especially since there seems to be a no-returns-on-opened-merchandise policy?

yeah that's the same one. not sure why amazon aren't listed.

So I've got a serious problem going on. I've been using my PC this way for I don't even know how long but I only just now noticed the insane temps I'm getting. I'm using a Hyper 212 which I know for sure is installed properly. I'm not really sure how I could improve upon the airflow in my case (Corsair 200R... it's not the easiest to figure out how to cool.) I've got three exhaust and three intake (Exhaust out of rear and top and intake on bottom and two in front). This has been my setup for going on two years now and this is the first time I've noticed something like this.

Last I checked I didn't get temps over 80 degrees under load. I'm not overclocking anything and have no fucking clue what could be causing these kinds of temps. As a precautionary measure I bought a Noctua NH-D15 and three Noctua case fans but those will take roughly a week to arrive. In the meantime I kind of don't want to use my computer because... well... have a look. Does anyone have any advice?

These are my temps after about 10 seconds running Intel Burn Test.

What's a 1440P 21:9 monitor cost these days? Can I get one for $300?

have you used any other programs to monitor temperatures and do they report the same?

I need some help. I just put together my PC and it won't work properly. It'll just cycle on and off for a few seconds at a time. For the amount of time that it is on for the connected monitor does not receive a signal from the computer. I've tried both a VGA port and an HDMI port and neither receives a signal. What could be the problem?

Yep. The issue first came to light because of what Rivatuner/MSI afterburner were reading in my OSD while I was tweaking my new graphics card. I saw temps in the high 80s and 90s and thought NOPE. Checked HW monitor and there ya go.

i think there are a lot of things that could be wrong. first make sure everything is connected and in the right place inside the case. fans, ram, gpu, front panel connections, psu cables. a common mistake some make is connecting their display to the wrong port. if you are using integrated graphics and have no discrete gpu installed then connect to the port on your motherboard. if you have a gpu installed then connect to the port on that.

when you power on the system hold delete or f2 to enter bios. check your motherboard manual to see what button it is. once in there make sure you've set it to boot order to usb/disc drive > hdd/ssd. if you're using an SSD make sure AHCI is enabled. when you next boot you should be taken to the installation screen for your OS.

Sounds like a typical problem with the socket and cpu. This only happens when the init process fails. Try to check if the socket pins are bent or if the cpu is bent.

Do you mind taking a picture of the interior of your PC?

If you're sure that your cooler was installed properly (with the right amount of thermal paste), only screwed up airflow could cause that kind of bad temperature performance. Maybe try disabling the top two fans?

that will run it just fine. the recommended specs for Vive are i5-4590/4GB and GTX 970. while these are "recommended" specs i'd think of them more as the minimum and recommended would be "as much performance as possible".

I've started getting a weird issue with my keyboard since yesterday. It's a basic USB connected Microsoft brand keyboard, nothing fancy.

I started playing Doom last night and noticed that occasionally I'd press a movement key and it would take a second for anything to happen and other times it would seem to continue moving even though I had released a key. It made the movement rather annoying, to say the least.

I just presumed it was an issue with Doom until this morning when I went to play some Overwatch and noticed that it's doing it in Overwatch too.

Any ideas what could be causing this? It's making it impossible to play games with the keyboard.

I'm noticing too that as I'm typing this in Chrome, every few seconds there's a noticeable freeze as I'm typing.

I checked out my CPU and my PC is still cycling. How obvious would it be if the socket pins were bent or the CPU was bent?

Well if the socket pins are bent or broken, the cycling goes into an infinite loop. The pins only bent if you inserted the CPU wrong, or the CPU bents if you inserted it wrong into the socket.

Looks like this if bent

imgres

Also try checking if you have inserted the RAM properly, you hear if it fits if you hear a clicking sound.
Also try to check the wiring.

Have you tried opening up task manager and checking which process is using up recourses?

Is that directed at me? If so, I had a look and there's basically nothing running. Just the usual programs I have running when I'm playing games (Steam, GPU-Z, my audio controller). Beyond those, Task Manager isn't showing anything else.

Hyper 212 + IBT + AVX + Haswells FIVR and adaptive Vcore = Expected results.

Try Prime95 v27.9. If gaming is pushing 90c then we have an issue.

Check the RAM is inserted fully. The tabs that hold the ram should return to their closed/vertical positions when done correctly.

Otherwise reseat the CPU and in doing so inspect the CPU socket for any bent pins, usually very obvious as they will reflect light in a different way to the other pins in the correct pattern and position.

Quick question guys, is it worth moving to 16gb for gaming/VR?

I currently running a i5 2500k@4ghz, 8gb ram and about to chuck a gtx1080 in.

My current ram is Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.

If id just gain a few extra fps I'm not bothard but if it gets me 10+ fps or increase min fps by 10+ id be interested.

Considering a Noctua NH-D14 for my 6700k. This will be going in an NZXT S340 case with a GA-Z170XP-SLI mobo. Will I have any clearance issues? I've seen pics of the cooler installed in the case online, but I can't tell if the rear exhaust had to be removed to get it to fit.

I came here to ask this too. Is 16 GB RAM considered the norm these days?

I currently have 8 GB of DDR4 3000 RAM and considering doubling this. Will I see big gains? GPU is a 980ti

Question for everyone.

I'm getting a evga 1070 with my new system and it only has 1 DVI plug, where as I need 2 for my monitors. I figure I would just convert one HDMI to DVI. But I have heard there are active and passive adapters. Do I need an active one?

Or would something as simple as this work? http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&p_id=2029&seq=1&format=2

Also, is there any reason I would be better off converting the DisplayPort to DVI? I've never used DisplayPort. My monitors are only 1080p.

Alright, I think I have a solid computer build. If there is anything wrong, please let me know.

Computer Case : Fractal Define S
Processor : Intel Core i7-6850K
CPU Cooler : Corsair Hydro Series H115i
Motherboard : ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming x99x
RAM : G.Skill Ripjaw 4 Series 8x8GB DDR2400
Storage : Samsung PRO Ultra M.2 512GB
Fans Extra : 4x Corsair SP140
Power Supply : EVGA 220-P2 Platnium 80 Plus 1000w

What I can salvage from my dead computer;
Video Card : GTX980Ti

Future upgrades;
2nd Video Card : GTX1280Ti

This build should be able to support many things at once on four 1080p monitors -or- three 1080p monitors plus one 4k TV.

My new computer is now all built and runs perfectly.

I'm loving the Corsair H115i Drivers that show CPU temps and fan/pump speeds.

This is what I'm planning to get, even planning to mod it with a handle like a Gamecube.
Thanks! Certainly worth to keep an eye on that case

I would go for the 1070, 2 more gb of VRAM it's going to only get better from here in terms of driver support.

This might be a long shot, it's in Euros, the 1070 isn't showing a price and I have no idea how much they cost over there. So here ya go. Try and start here:

I realized I kinda messed up in my choice of power supply (got the Corsair CX650M 650W), so gonna get a EVGA GQ 650W instead. The good thing is the general return policy here in Sweden is quite generous, so every online store allows returns within 14 days of getting the product, even if you've used it (as long as you haven't damaged or severly degraded it, of course).

Will the EVGA GQ serve me well (it's on a few of Hazaro's builds, so it has to pretty good, I reckon)? I want to get it right this time.

EDIT: Oh dear, I also noticed I could get a EVGA G2 550W for around $5 more than a GQ 650W. I don't really need 650W as of right now or in any near future, I'm only using a i5 6500 and a single GTX 1060 after all. What to do, what to do...

GAF, I need your help! I installed an SSD in my PC a while ago, but it's not doing anything right now, since I forgot most of what I learned about PC-building when I put together my machine almost five years ago and wanting the help of my computer-savvy friend, who is unfortunately out of the state for the summer. And now the Windows 10 deadline is coming up!

I'm currently running Windows 7 on my PC. How should I go about getting Windows 10 running from my SSD?

Fan experts I could use some help...

I'm going to be transferring my computer to a new case and upgrading a couple parts. The case I'm getting is the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Tempered Glass. I'm using a Corsair H100 AIO cooler and was thinking about mounting it at the top of the case with 2 Corsair ML Pro 120 LED fans. Then at the back I would put 1 Corsair ML Pro 140 LED fan and at the front I'd leave the stock fans that come with the case since you can't really see those very well.

How does this set up sound and what would be the optimal way for the fans to face? I was thinking the 2 fans at top would blow out, the one in the rear would also blow out, and the 2 in front would pull air in to the case.

I'd be running a Zotac Amp Extreme GTX 1080 if that matters...

I'm after a new 2TB harddrive, I've not been able to find anything from UK sites at a reasonable price (around £60 at most, really) except the WD Blue and a Seagate drive, and i really don't want a Seagate drive. Is the WD Blue the best choice or can anyone recommend something?

Mineshaft_Gap check the seating on the cooler, something is wrong. Could be too little thermal paste or the seating isn't tight enough.

I run my 2500k at a pretty high voltage with a NH-D14 and peak at 75c under prime.

H2cxmc.png

Mineshaft @ How hot is the temperature in your room? If you're in an area with heatwaves, could the warmer air just be attributing to higher temps?

This is gonna sound dumb; But are you absolutely sure that exhaust and intake are turned appropriately? There has been many builders who reverse the them so there is not proper air pressure!

Cant compare, his CPU uses thermal paste between the die and IHS, yours is soldered.
Yours also doesnt boost Vcore with AVX workloads.

Something seems wrong, yeah. However, it is summer. A lot of people think something is wrong, when really, it just the natural consequence of this time of year.

When is the last time you re-applied your thermal paste? It could be dried out. Do you remember what kind you used?
Are you sure that your CPU fan is spinning properly?

Have you moved your PC, recently? Say, for a LAN party. Or maybe re-arranging the house?

Now you have me a little worried. I have the same case and CPU cooler as you on a 3570K, and my temps are the same or higher than yours. I didn't realize there was anything weird about this. However, it's worth noting than I'm in the southern US and it's hot as balls here, like 95F outside and the AC is struggling to keep the house cool.

On that note, I've been considering getting a Noctua NH-D15 to replace my Hyper 212 Evo, but Tom's Hardware mentioned the thing is really heavy and made a big deal about it possibly being dangerous to the motherboard, going so far as to say I should never move my PC after installing the thing. Is this really an issue that I should be worried about?
