Done for now
Today i grabbed a k65 lux rgb keyboard and an m65 mouse.
I need to stop spending money. This 1000 dollar build turned into much more. I'm happy all around though.
Looking good. Congrats!

Any opinions on LG 27UD68P-B? The price on mass drop is pretty good and the shipping to where I live is cheap. I really want to get an ultrawide screen though, but I'm waiting for OLED/higher resolution ones to come out eventually so the ridiculous shipping price will be worth paying.
My knowledge about monitors is fairly limited, and any suggestion is welcomed
yeah that's the same one. not sure why amazon aren't listed.Possibly dumb question time
Is this: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/bwcMnQ/msi-motherboard-b150igamingproac
The same motherboard as this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01APM2VU4/?tag=neogaf0e-20
And if so, why isn't Amazon listed on the PCPartsPicker page for it? I was just about to buy this motherboard from Newegg when it sold out. I can still get it from Superbiiz but I've read horror stories about their service.
The Amazon link SEEMS like it's the exact same thing, but I'm afraid to buy it without 100% confirmation that it will work, especially since there seems to be a no-returns-on-opened-merchandise policy?
So I've got a serious problem going on. I've been using my PC this way for I don't even know how long but I only just now noticed the insane temps I'm getting. I'm using a Hyper 212 which I know for sure is installed properly. I'm not really sure how I could improve upon the airflow in my case (Corsair 200R... it's not the easiest to figure out how to cool.) I've got three exhaust and three intake (Exhaust out of rear and top and intake on bottom and two in front). This has been my setup for going on two years now and this is the first time I've noticed something like this.
Last I checked I didn't get temps over 80 degrees under load. I'm not overclocking anything and have no fucking clue what could be causing these kinds of temps. As a precautionary measure I bought a Noctua NH-D15 and three Noctua case fans but those will take roughly a week to arrive. In the meantime I kind of don't want to use my computer because... well... have a look. Does anyone have any advice?
These are my temps after about 10 seconds running Intel Burn Test.
What's a 1440P 21:9 monitor cost these days? Can I get one for $300?
have you used any other programs to monitor temperatures and do they report the same?
I need some help. I just put together my PC and it won't work properly. It'll just cycle on and off for a few seconds at a time. For the amount of time that it is on for the connected monitor does not receive a signal from the computer. I've tried both a VGA port and an HDMI port and neither receives a signal. What could be the problem?

I'm getting exited about VR and I'm thinking about getting a Vive.
Do you think my PC can run it or should I upgrade first ?
This is my build :
Power supply : PC POWER AND COOLING SILENCER MK III SERIES 750 WATT 80PLUS GO
RAM : Kingston Hyper X PnP - 8GB Kit* (2x4GB) - DDR3 1866MHz CL11 DIMM
Drive : WD Black 2TO
Motherboard : ASUS P8Z77-V LK
CPU : INTEL i5-3570K
Heatsink : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Case : Bitfenix Shinobi USB 3.0 white
SSD : Samsung - SSD Série 840 - 250 Go
GPU : GeForce GTX 1070 FE
Sounds like a typical problem with the socket and cpu. This only happens when the init process fails. Try to check if the socket pins are bent or if the cpu is bent.
I checked out my CPU and my PC is still cycling. How obvious would it be if the socket pins were bent or the CPU was bent?
Have you tried opening up task manager and checking which process is using up recourses?

Quick question guys, is it worth moving to 16gb for gaming/VR?
I currently running a i5 2500k@4ghz, 8gb ram and about to chuck a gtx1080 in.
My current ram is Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.
If id just gain a few extra fps I'm not bothard but if it gets me 10+ fps or increase min fps by 10+ id be interested.
I'm in a similar situation myself. 2500k at 4.8 and just bought a 1070. Debating on swapping my 8GB DDR3-1600 for 8GB/16GB DDR3-2133 or just riding it out with what I've got.I currently running a i5 2500k@4ghz, 8gb ram and about to chuck a gtx1080 in.
Question for everyone.
I'm getting a evga 1070 with my new system and it only has 1 DVI plug, where as I need 2 for my monitors. I figure I would just convert one HDMI to DVI. But I have heard there are active and passive adapters. Do I need an active one?
Or would something as simple as this work? http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&p_id=2029&seq=1&format=2
Also, is there any reason I would be better off converting the DisplayPort to DVI? I've never used DisplayPort. My monitors are only 1080p.
Alright, I think I have a solid computer build. If there is anything wrong, please let me know.
Computer Case : Fractal Define S
Processor : Intel Core i7-6850K
CPU Cooler : Corsair Hydro Series H115i
Motherboard : ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming x99x
RAM : G.Skill Ripjaw 4 Series 8x8GB DDR2400
Storage : Samsung PRO Ultra M.2 512GB
Fans Extra : 4x Corsair SP140
Power Supply : EVGA 220-P2 Platnium 80 Plus 1000w
What I can salvage from my dead computer;
Video Card : GTX980Ti
Future upgrades;
2nd Video Card : GTX1280Ti
This build should be able to support many things at once on four 1080p monitors -or- three 1080p monitors plus one 4k TV.

This is what I'm planning to get, even planning to mod it with a handle like a Gamecube.
That looks awesome and the price too forgot to say I already do own Windows but I can do something with this starting point for sure. If someone has more suggestions im all ear, but thanks so far for taking the time to make a buildI would go for the 1070, 2 more gb of VRAM it's going to only get better from here in terms of driver support.
This might be a long shot, it's in Euros, the 1070 isn't showing a price and I have no idea how much they cost over there. So here ya go. Try and start here:

Monitor res?
That should be required viewing for people upgrading because of bottlenecks.Yes, there are gains. There is also titles cropping up that benefit from the additional memory. I've had stutters in Forza Apex until I swapped my 8GB to 16GB.
What are your specs if you don't mind me asking?Done for now
Today i grabbed a k65 lux rgb keyboard and an m65 mouse.

1920 x 1080. Normal HD. They are Dell 2407WFP's.
Mineshaft_Gap check the seating on the cooler, something is wrong. Could be too little thermal paste or the seating isn't tight enough.
I run my 2500k at a pretty high voltage with a NH-D14 and peak at 75c under prime.
