Main differences between cards are power draw and number of fans. The Asus Dual has 2 and the Strix has 3 for example. Differences between brands really comes down to warranty and coverage. EVGA is going to be the best in this area, and who I would go with. I've had plenty of ASUS stuff and had a 1060 Dual and 1079 Strix at one time, they were fine, but the thing with Asus is if you have any issues you have to deal with their customer support and it's awful.

Thanks! I'll do some more research and look around. 1070 is quite the bit more expensive here in Sweden, which is partly why I'm considering a 1060. As for warranty and coverage, that shouldn't be any issue.

Since you seem to know your stuff, may I ask in what way the 2600k might be getting up there?

Also, would you say the faster memory in a 1060 card is worth it? Not sure how this works.

I bought a D-Link DIR-842 cause I needed a cheap dual-band gigabit router.

It's working fine overall but holy shit is that DLink Web UI terrible...

I've been so used to Linksys for years now... The DLink one barely has any options (even when clicking Advanced). For example I'm not even sure you can do MAC Filtering? I couldn't find it anyway

Thermaltake Core V21 - inexpensive, looks nice, relatively compact, just big enough to fit the biggest GPUs

Corsair Bulldog - expensive but cool, console like case. includes PSU, liquid cooling support for CPU+GPU for $200 or $300 with motherboard. GPU length upto 11.6" (stock 1080ti is ~10.6")?

Bitfenix Prodigy - older standard for this type of mid-mini case, I like the handles etc.

Phanteks Evolv Shift (when it is released)

NZXT Manta (bigger case for a mini ITX)

How much will that cost you? Just as a second opinion, I think I would spend the money differently. I'd be inclined to get a nice SSD and maybe a new monitor (depending on what you have). I actually think the 4590 is a decent companion for the 1060 for now (and then I would see how things shake out when Vega launches, which I guess will be approaching time for Coffee Lake?).

I already have the SSD just not installed yet. My setup already has two great monitors (both freesync, so hoping AMD card prices get fixed), and want to take a crack at video editing and content creation so it seems more sensible.

This is why I really regret not getting DDR4 3000 back in January. I probably could've gotten it for $100.

Of course, if I'd gotten it a few months earlier, I could've gotten a way better deal, but I wasn't looking to upgrade then.

NZXT Kraken X52 and yes.

Temps were getting up to 72-75 at 5Ghz. Which isn't terrible but also not worth it for the 200mhz either.

Before delidding, I was hitting 85-90 at 4.9Ghz. And it was cooler in my room back then as well.

That's what I'm thinking too. Newegg lists the 7800x coming out on the 26th and the clocks appear similar. God knows when Coffee Lake will release so I think I'm read to jump on board with either the 7740k or 7800x, depending how expensive the new mobos are.

I'll take a look for benchmarks for it, but it seems pretty ignored by benchmarks. I'm reluctant to always do the single most demanding thing because sometimes it's just a poor implementation (Fallout 4) and sometimes it just scales so well you can crush any system (GTA V). Hence I try to stick to ones that balance single and multiplayer rather than just system crushers.

My PSU is an 800W Cooler Master Pro Gold and I'm running an H50 Corsair water cooling system. My case is a Raidmax Vampire.

I need to re-organize my drives a bit (I've been having my machine hitch up and force a reboot these past few weeks, not sure what's causing it). I also want to start looking at higher res gaming. Any ideas on where I can spend some money and get more power of this machine? I also want a bigger SSD for games - that little one will be my new OS only.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I was set on the 7740 until I started having reviews/videos thrown at me showing that it ends up not being able to fully support the new x299 boards. I'm wondering if I should go for the 7800 (honestly, I wasn't paying any attention to the other new chips, and didn't realize this was only like $50 more) and have the extra, but slower, cores. I really wanted to go mATX also (Enthoo Evolv TG). Blah, not sure what to do.

Edit: honestly an hour on /r/buildapc the other night made me feel like a moron for considering the 7740, because a lot of posters on there were pretty much saying someone buying it would be exactly that.

Is the i5 7600k a good processor without overclocking it? I planned too but I got a B250M mobo which doesn't allow oc'ing. Plan on playing games like Arma 3, Ark survival evolved, battlegrounds, heavily modded fallout 4/Skyrim.

I would upgrade the graphics card first, but man the GPU market is so crappy right now. The only good value GPU right now is the 1080 at $500-$530, the 1070 right now is at $480.

Get a 6500/7500 then so you won't pay a price premium for a feature you wont use. Not counting OCing it's nearly identical.

New Mainboard, New problems. My Power Button doesnt work anymore, so I guess the Pins are broken. It got electricity, the mobo-LEDs are Shining. Is there a way to "shortcut" the power Button, for the unpropable case that the powercable got broken?

For a while at least, but maybe not forever. RAM prices have always fluctuated quite a bit.

It is still pretty crazy that I got my RAM last year for basically half of what you'd pay now :/

Okay great, that I tried and IT didnt work. That really does, As expected, put The blame on the Mainboard. God bless Amazon same Day delovery, i will get another One in a few hours. But after 2 Bad boards i dont beloeve in IT anymore

Should be fine. The cited power requirement of the 1050 Ti is 300 watts. As a cheap thing to get a few extra years out of the PC at medium-high settings, it'll do.

Has anyone seen any 3000+ MHz, 2x8 GB DDR4 for sale at $100 or less in the last month or two? Just curious if that price point even exists anymore. Seems the lowest it goes is about $110, or $120 for 3200 MHz.

Look for used. I just sold a set of 2x8GB 3000mhz DDR4 for $84 on Ebay and that was only a month old.

The 1070 is great value for money, however like others said they're now difficult to find.
The Samsung Evo 850 500 GB SSD was $200 a while ago at newegg. Sandisk which is also considered good had their version for $160 I think. 1TB you can again go with Samsung for $300.

Well shit, I went to eBay and found Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 MHz 2x8 GB for $105 as a new product, but as I was checking out I saw an official eBay-sponsored promo code that dropped it down to $90.

That was fast. Wasn't expecting to drop $90 on RAM sticks today, but so be it. It's not amazing RAM as it runs at 1.35 V to reach the 3000 MHz clock speed, but I'm not going to lose sleep over that. Thanks again for the eBay suggestion.

Thanks - that 1TB for just over $300 looks like what I'll grab.

Are there any good videos or articles I can read to help me figure out how to efficiently mount/locate all my drives? I'll also need to pick up some new cables to make sure I can get things in there fine.

Do you know if the seller has more? Do you have a link by any chance? That's the exact RAM I have now and I would make the jump from 16 to 32 if I could get it at that price.

They had 40 in stock originally but I bought the very last one. There's the link so you can keep track in case the seller adds more later. I don't have the promo code handy that I used unfortunately, it literally came up as a $15 off promo code during checkout that was only usable if I paid via PayPal, so it was some kind of eBay-sponsored promo code.

So my i7 6700k wasn't as bad as I thought. I got it to 4.7ghz with 1.30 adaptive voltage with a small .01 offset, temps are about 70* with my small Noctua NH-U9S.

I guess it's possible. But there are seller ratings on Ebay so you know if you are buying from someone trustworthy.

I think Ebay also has some kind of buyer protection if you buy something that flat out doesn't work though. Not sure as I've never had to use it.

But anyways, glad you got sorted out :)
