[Sho Nuff]

This started running in Japan tonight. I couldn't find any other threads about this.

Thumbs down! The first film had such a wonderful sense of dread the whole way through, what with hideous surprises lurking about, the Red Queen AI, and the security system from hell. This, on the other hand, is a soulless cluster-fuck of badly shot super-uber action scenes. There is a great deal of ass that is kicked in this film, but the hideous chop-edit makes it virtually impossible to tell just what in the holy hell is going on at any given moment. The editing is so jumbled as to render entire scenes incomprehensible.

Story picks up right after the first film and is best summed up as Dawn of the Dead Lite. Far too few "HOLY SHIT THAT'S COOL" moments, typecast characters aplenty, and overdone zombie gimmicks aplenty (OH NO ONE OF THE GUYS IN OUR SQUAD OF BADASSES GOT BIT, I WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN).

There are a few nice touches game nerds like you (yes, YOU, you're reading Gaming Age) will groove on, but all in all, it's very average fare. Scares are kept to an absolute minimum as they're infinitely predictable (threat of scare, second of relief as it turns out to be a cat or something, zombie attacks from behind instead).

BTW it is SO obvious that a white guy was writing Mike Epps's lines.

I think she is actually running down the building she is free falling but moving her feet...if she were to say flap her arms i doubt she would be perceived as flying down the building...

Thats exactly what I thought the first one was missing. Mainly cuz the red queen was the worst "bad guy" ever. A big bad scary computer kills more people then the zombies ruins any atmosphere they were hopingto create.

She was repelling. She was pretty obviously harnessed in the trailers, I don't think that was unintentional.

Still pretty unrealistic, but not the matrixy awkwardness of before.

Okay, TOTAL SPOILERS below:

Raccoon City is infested after the dumbasses at Umbrella re-opened the hive to see what was inside. Umbrella locks off the city and tells the media there's been a nuclear meltdown. Milla escapes (she was a part of the Nemesis product and now has super strength) and meets up with EX COP WITH AN ATTITUDE Jill Valentine, and the spunky TV anchorwoman who wants to win an Emmy. Together they run around and beat up zombies. The main Umbrella scientist's daughter is trapped so he contacts our heroes to extract her from the school where she is hiding. Meanwhile the NEMESIS (Matt) from the last movie is now free and is being controlled by umbrella and kills a bunch of STARS dudes. (Oh yeah, somewhere they met up with the token black dude comic relief, who uses the word "motherfucker" a whole bunch.) They extract the girl after killing a bunch of zombies and scientist dude tells them to go to the top of this building to an escape helicopter. More Umbrella ass is kicked but then the evil Umbrella dude is waiting for them and goes "Hahaha now Milla must fight the Nemesis one on one." So you get a confusing fight scene and the Nemesis gets speared. Dude is like "finish him!" (yes they actually say "finish him!") but Milla is like NO! because she loves him as Matt even though he is an eight foot tall walking death machine who is ugly as a stump. So Nemesis somehow gets his second wind and gets up and turns on his masters, whooping all the Umbrella dudes. Evil Umbrella dude gets eaten by the zombie version of the scientist dude (oh yeah, he got shot). They get on the helicopter and take off just as Umbrella DROPS A FUCKING NUKE ON THE CITY. (This scene is cool, they actually nuke Toronto.) Helicopter crashes and nobody is to be found but Milla. Milla wakes up in a lab, goes schizo and escapes, and is picked up outside by Jill and friends. Another evil scientist dude gives the order to let them go because Milla is now outfitted with an Umbrella tracking system. THE END and hope to god there's not a RE3.

Acctually I'm glad I read the spoiler they used the same ending in the movie that they use in the game...Beat up the big bad monster, escape by some mode of vehicular transporatation as the place explodes. I didn't see the whole trailer just glimpses of it I swear I saw a guy who looked like Wesker and a STARS member who looke like chris from the RE1 opening. the Chris looking guy kills a zombie or something that was behind Alice and has some one liner after it....I doubt it;s them and it probally didn't look like them either (was probally my recent bout of insomnia...it's 4am now and Im posting about RE movie...?!)

actually I thought there are some feels of Outbreak in the movie. At least to me.

I like the movie, but like I said in the other thread, Paul Anderson fucks the story, and there are really bad editing. But overall it's a fun and enjoyable movie to watch. There is the RE atmosphere and a lot of referenced from various RE movies, probably dedicated to the fans.

Leon's golden gun is in the movie and almost the whole code veronica opening make it in the movie. It's just awesome to see.
But I just wish Jill would do much more, and Nemesis doesn't seem threatening enough as in the game. He actually looks stupid, but other than that, I think I like the movie.

but yes, what CVXFREAK said, I like the movie too, but it doesn't mean it's a good movie. I am just a big RE fan, can't hate anything RE.

I got to see it tonight and yeah i feel the same...it was kinda stupid but yet i enjoyed myself so much, from start to finish it was able to keep my interest..although they tried REAL hard to scare me but they didn't. Yes, alot of Code Veronica made it into this film, i didn't like the whole i can "feel" you even though you are an 8 foot tall mutant prophet of death. Overall, very good popcorn flick...will please fans, meh for others and yes it leaves it open for yet another movie but get this...the way it ends, i kinda want to see it
