BioShock Infinite is like playing some homeless guy's vivid imagination
I'm currently rewatching the series with a buddy who hasn't seen it, and we're almost done with season two.

Like everyone I've introduced the show to, he started off pretty pessimistic about it, worried it would stray too far into goofy sci-fi territory, but, unsurprisingly, became hooked after one episode.

Although I will say that my favorite characters have changed pretty dramatically watching it this time around.

I absolutely love Baltar, Starbuck, Tigh, and Chief Tyrol. Probably my four favorite characters. Each of the actors are just unbelievably good (not to say the rest of the cast isn't stellar, because they are--for the most part).

Wife and I watching it for the first time! Into Season 2 now!

Only negative is some of the daft plot turns that occur that seem implausible, but it still remains to be entertaining and contain enough impactful moments to keep it compelling.

I really enjoy the premise of "spiritual robots".

You guys were right, this episode just kept the momentum from the min-series going.
I can totally see how this won an award.

Schpoilers:

Huh, so the pilot from the scout ship survived? And there's another Cylon clone of his GF? lol, I wonder what the Cylons plan with her is - are they going to try to set up a distress call and in that fashion find all of the surviving humans?
I'm not entirely sure what's going on with the Cylon-inside-Gaius-head, as she seems to be helping him, assuming she is just a chip in his brain. I do like the notion that she's just a figment of his imagination, created to cope with the guilt he's feeling (at least that explains why she is helping him).

Oh man, I really feel it for poor Gaius. Love how realistic everything is, like Adama's little talk on why the military cannot function as a police force. That asian Cylon is going to be the death of them all. I like how she's trying to cope with what seems obviously clear, the way she's trying to rationalize away her suspicious behaviour.

That card game was awesome, I wanna play that card game.

My favorite show of all time.

Just watch the entire show, and base you own conclusions. There's a lot of haters on GAF in regards to the final season, but personally, I loved the ending.

Can't wait for you to respond after the end of the first season. I literally sat in shock for a good while in disbelief.

Damn this show. Fucking amazing.

I watched the entire thing for the first time on Bluray on my home theater system when I was home over Christmas.... it was.... oh god... I just.... yeah it's pretty good.

I'm really looking forward to re-watching it with the knowledge of what's going on... all along :)

Oh, and to the OP, as great as BSG is, do not watch The Plan after its all said and done.

Its like looking at Kate Upton naked only to have her turn around with a turd hanging out.

I'll second that. The Plan is really unnecessary and feels more like a clip-show than anything. It's distracting and pretty much pointless.

I can't link at work, but there's also "webisodes" between some seasons that are worth watching.

I'll hunt them down OP and list them in the thread. I'll include when you need to watch them.

The Razor Flashbacks
The Face of the Enemy

Those are the only two real "webisode" thingys that I think "count." Razor Flashbacks are included on one of the sets, I believe, but Face of the Enemy isn't anymore. Some wierd rights issues. I think it's still online, though.

Alright, thanks!
Am watching up until episode 5 today I reckon.

I finished it about a week ago - I seriously wish I could watch a new episode for the rest of my days. It did get a bit (not as good) towards the end but I can't hate it after watching series 1 & 2.

I EVEN BOUGHT AN APOLLO FIGURINE (I'm 32 lol).

If you haven't watched it yet, Caprica is worth checking out. Its not BSG, but it does provide some good insight on how the colonies operated before the war.

Its only 2 seasons, so its a quick burn.

If Caprica isn't your thing, then make sure you also watch BSG: Blood and Chrome. Probably the last we'll get out of this universe. :(

Caprica is next on my 'to watch list' and I've only just found out about Blood and Chrome now - so thanks for that dude.

I'm rewatching too. Currently finished the season 3 finale. I'm part of the group who loved the show but hated the ending of the series.
Letting it rest for a while and then revisiting it is a great idea for anyone who feels similarly. It truly is a great show because knowing how the pieces fall together in the end gives you a whole new perspective on certain elements of the show.

Hard for me to judge the last season since the break between season 3 and 4 was so damn long because of the writers strike.

No problem. Always willing to talk some BSG.

Just beware, Caprica is a complete 180 from BSG. The beginning is a slower burn, but it really picks up after the first handful of episodes.

I've been listening to some of the BSG OST's on my ipod at work today.

Sooooo good. Bear McCreary's work on it is fantastic. The Passacaglia from the intro to Kobol's Last Gleaming is phenomenal.

BSG and Lost are my favorite OST's.

BSG especially because of how much it changes as things progress.

There's two episodes of the Mini Series (2003) and you follow that up with Episode titled 33 from Season one of the show right?

Yep, it listed the Mini series as part of Season 1 on Amazon, so I just watched them first.
Watching episode 4 right now.

This is so crazy good.

I convinced some friends to start watching Lost and in return I am watching BSG. I'm five episodes in and I'm not impressed so far.

The acting is embarrassingly bad (specifically these "Starbuck" and "Apollo" types) and the whole thing looks very... Sci-Fi Channel.

I do like the story on a broad level, but someone please reassure me that it gets better.

Apollo is the least interesting character, I just don't care what happens with him or that blond pilot.

Gaius, Adama, and a couple of others more than make up for boring characterization imho.

BSG is my all time favourite television series, so enjoy! Looking forward to reading your reactions as you make your way through the series.

Glad you've decided to watch the series straight through. I recently finished watching the series and I don't think the second half is as bad as people say it is.

Also you can choose to watch Razor when it fits chronologically towards the end of season 2 (like I did), or when it was originally released after season 3. Either way, it's worth watching

Discotheque, might want to edit that post since the OP hasn't made it past the first season.

oh my gods.

Blood and Chrome is fucking terrible, too.

Basically, once the show ends, it's done. Nothing that came afterwards works at all.

(not counting Caprica - it's kind of its own thing, really. Nowhere near as good as Battlestar, but not worthy of dismissal, either)

edit: "These "Starbuck" and "Apollo" types"? You mean the actual characters? Like, their callsigns? Also it looks really Sci-Fi channel because it was on the Sci-Fi channel. 2004-era Sci-Fi channel, even.

Shit's almost a decade old now.

BSG is such a visceral, unique and perfectly shot show. Saying it "looks like very Sci-Fi Channel" is such a bizarre 'insult.'

Hell, the DP, Stephen McNutt, was emmy nominated for his cinematography.

And Gary Hutzel's team WON multiple emmys for the VFX work.

Essentially, at one point, it was the prettiest looking show on Television.

Mid season finale of the second season is for me the most memorable moment of the entire BSG series. It was glorious.

I just did a rewatch two months ago.

I freaking love this show and loved the final season. I watched ten seasons of Smallville so while I can safely say BSG's last season does get worse, it's still better than 90% of the stuff I watch.

VFX is one of the areas where BSG does get notably better as it goes on, but for a television show it always had a strong & coherent overall visual sense from the start. Considering that they had a small fraction of the budget of the big steaming pile that was that other big sci-fi show on air at the time, they would in later seasons (as they improved major flaws, like close-up shots of centurions) easily eclipse stuff like the embarrassingly cheesy-looking smoke monster.

yeah the space effects were pretty damn impressive for it's budget. and they improved considerably over time.

basically i just said what you did, and quoted you too......

I started watching sometime in like 2009 when I picked up the DVDs. I quickly went through seasons 1-3 and held off watching 4 since I wanted to save it for later. I finally finished the series this year when I re watched it with friends. My favorite tv show/series next to Band of Brothers.

Is Razor any good? It came with the Bluray box set along with The Plan.

Razor is basically just an extended episode. Just filler really.

The Plan is worthless and contributes nothing.

I didn't think Blood and Chrome was terrible but it's kind of pointless considering we're never getting a continuation.

I am more interested in this lovefilm site.

So it's a Amazon company which means it's a legit place, right? Does it have everything that the prime streaming has? i have been interested in checking out prime but not for $80, i don't want to commit for a full year.

God damn this is so good, I can't stop watching it, but episode 7 will be it for today :p

Bastille day:

This episode was not as good as the previous, or next ones. The first weak point, probably because it focused so much on that Astro dude (I can't even remember his name).

Act of Contrition/You can't go home again:

Pretty great 2-episode story arc, and it did kinda make me like whatever-her-name, though she's still not as interesting as some of the other characters. Neat to see the BSG in control of a Cylonship, but I get the feeling they're not going to get much use out of it.

Litmus:

This was excellent.
Loved the little witch hunt they had going on, and the dissolution of the relationship between two annoying characters. It makes you wonder how that damn mechanic can keep quiet about all this, especially now that he no longer has a relationship to think of. If he doesn't tell Adama in the next couple of episodes, I will not approve.

Six degrees of separation:

God damn.
That whole episode had me at the edge of my seat.
I have no clue as to whether the apparition in Gaius head is just a rationalization or something else, and am loving not knowing it. It does seem like this particular Cylon is at odds with the rest of Cylon...ity. If she is the apparition, then she has actively been helping humanity escape on more than one occasion, when she could have by withholding information easily have caused the destruction of the human race.

Damn it, read the plot synopsis of episode 8 "Flesh and Bone", and now I must watch it.

It is a UK alternative to Netflix.
I think it's £4.99 a month or so (compared to 5.99 at Netflix), but it doesn't have much in terms of "new" content, so it's not very appealing.
Not as much HD stuff as Netflix either.
