Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition announced

Since this thread was bumped again, I'll post my two cents.

It's funny. Last week I get the finally play through the Icewind dale series, and then this comes out.

As someone who played the original for a few hours before finding out this and buying it, I can say that the enhanced edition is good. I haven't run into any bugs or issues yet. The game looks nicer, and controls smoother. It nice to have the updates from BG2, like the full range of class options without having to go through mods.

This is such a great game, my favourite game of all time actually. Funny and sad that it hasn't been topped after all these years.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I love love love Baldur's Gate 2, it is absolutely one of my favorite games of all time, but I've never actually played either IWD game. I really enjoyed the storyline of the Baldur's Gate series, and knowing that IWD doesn't have any of that made it less appealing to me.

I'll probably just have to get over it and give these a try, though. I am sure I will like them.

Though IIRC vanilla BG2 nerfed THAC0 progression and weapon specialisation points (from what I understand this was a semi-intentional decision since standard AD&D 2nd Ed. made very high level characters immensely powerful). And I sort of liked the simplicity of BG1's weapon classes (stuff like separate club and mace or light and heavy crossbow proficiencies never made sense to me).

Is the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition like really buggy? That was the main problem I read with it. Is it not buggy anymore and if it is, why not fix that game first before working on another?

Jeeeeez, this game is hard on normal difficulty. The boss of
Dragon's Eye
is wrecking me. I cant even get close to winning this fight with or without most of my party members dying.

One thing that really threw me off on my first attempt back when the game originally came out was how necessary magical characters are.

My original party was very melee/physical damage oriented...
Which does no good at all when you run up against creatures that are immune to physical damage.

Ended up starting over with a new party.
