Idea for Resident Evil DS

I always had this idea for DS since it was announced. A resident evil type game, except you were basically 'running' the mansion or wherever it was at. Technically I guess it could be used for any type of franchise, by Resident Evil came to mind.

Basically think of being an Umbrella leader or something, and having all the zombies and traps at your disposal in the mansion. Top screen would show the room you are currently looking in, and the touch screen would be like a map 'censor' of the entire mansion or area. Touch the certain room or place on the map and it will show up on the top screen. You can see how the action plays out when STARS guys go in that room. You can select options to have a zombie come out, lay a trap, have something jump out and attack them - stuff like that. The idea is to keep them from getting to you, by strategically placing stuff that will fuck them up in certain rooms.

And to take it even further, imagine playing a multiplayer style game, with other people acting as the STARS force trying to battle through the areas with limited suppies. Add online stuff, and playing against lots of people .. I think you have a game.

Just my idea ... a lot different than was Resident Evil technically is ... and I've personally haven't heard of a game designed like this, though I'm sure some are out there. Maniac Mansion reminds me a lot of this, although its a lot different. I think a game like that would be fun to play if done right.

Sounds like a type of strategy game. Actually seems quite interesting, and anything different from the same ol RE formula is welcome

interesting. i wouldnt mind seeing this. But i rather see a Fullmetal Alchemist game where you have to draw the symbols to make items. That would be cool, mmm a witch game too that would be nice. NO but RE that isnt the same old RE is yeah good idea.

That would be pretty cool. But you'd have to limit the ability to generate zombies etc and placement. Cause if I was S.T.A.R.S. I wouldn't wanna go into a room with 5 bullets and suddenly 50 zombies shoot out of an air duct.

I am rather intrigued by the idea. Perhaps add in some sort of ranking, so the higher your ranking is, the better traps/zombies you can put into your mansion ?

Yeah, there would be limits. I've only played the Resident Evil on GC, so I don't know what other items/enemies would be good to put in the games.

I would like to see a horror game on DS that uses the extra screen for psychological scare effects.
The potential for subtle and direct effects should be plenty.

Tecmo's Deception?

Ding ding we have a winner. Specifically the first installment in the series w/ summoned monsters.

I'm pretty sure there's been a rallying call for a revival of Tecmo's Deception franchise on DS by a poster or two, or else I would have mentioned it already... in fact I'm rather sure of it. Sadly, I'm also pretty sure only one or two people on GA made such a comment.

More people need to find Deception 1/2 on PSone and play it. And yes, I'm quite aware of how nauseating the graphics are by today's standards. Hell, the first Deception looked bad for it's time in my opinion. The gameplay ideas are still sound though, and with a whole lot of tweaking and some nice graphical touchups, it'd be fantastic on DS.

Did you see the video of the new PS2 Deception game from Tokyo Game Show? It looks so cool...

Sounds like a Japanese version of Night Trap, minus the schoolgirls, which pretty much makes it an American version of Night Trap, just in some alternate universe.

Damnit, I was just going to say Night Trap.

Actually, talking about this sort of thing, why hasn't anybody announced a Rainbow Six style tactical shooter for the DS yet? Touchscreen/dual screen combo seems perfect for it.
