She almost gets it but falls short. She says in her video that “voting with our wallets” isn’t working. This is correct, as there are too many people with awful taste and low standards buying up the slop every year. What she fails to understand is this is precisely why the people who go online to share their disapproval of modern gaming and “cheer with glee” when GaaS, exploitative or “woke” games fail. It’s basically the only thing we can do to voice our disapproval and try to get the industry to stop, seeing as the masses keep supporting this trash.

It should piss people off that instead of spending 2-3 years in a by-the-numbers first person or co-op game with a Budget (Astro Bot) we get these ambitious, experimental, forever games that exist because Fortnite exists and they want that. It feels reactionary, like some CEO looking at an excel sheet instead of, you, playing the product and familiarizing with the brand.
As much hate Nintendo gets for having inferior hardware and doing their thing, they at least know what’s up when it comes to game development. Both companies’ output have been pretty bummer lately, but when it comes to throw hands and show their homework, Nintendo will have a new Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime 4 and Mario Kart on brand new hardware. And Sony? 6 Concords. Oh wait 4 Concords, two just got canceled.

It's not just voicing disapproval in a serious way.
But often just laughing at the company for making a dumb decision. You'd think a bunch of highly paid big wigs and techie dudes would know better than to waste time making a GOW GAAS MP game. I'm pretty sure the avg GOW fan isnt itching for Ascension MP mode, or using Kratos and the kid to do MP melee and bow and arrow battles against other gamers. Nor do I think GOW gamers want some persistent ongoing GAAS game like Fallout 76. They just want really cool SP GOW games.
Similar to other popular SP games, there may be some MP or Coop modes of some sort, but those are added to the existing core game. Not divvied up into a standalone GAAS game unless the game looks like it handle it.
What Sony was trying to do is make some of their core franchise have a SP focused game and a MP game. Like LOU/Factions 2, Horizon/Horizon MP, Spiderman/Spiderman MP, GOW/GOW GAAS etc... Which is similar to COD having SP mode/MP, or Fallout/Skyrim which have both a SP game and an online game.

Why wouldn't I want something to fail that is actively destroying my hobby. It's not a coincidence that we have had so few new games this generation. This is what they have all been busy making and cancelling.

People wanting games to fail is not a new phenomenon lol. Anyone remember the PS360 era? Killzone 2 was called a flop because it didn't get a 90 metascore. There were threads full of people trolling exclusives (all sides) that didn't meet some arbitrary benchmark and that was normal. Sheesh man, some of these people got older and apparently hypersensitive to the reception that video games now receive like games are all of a sudden this sacred cow that must be championed at all times.

I think the key is those games are giant RPGs where gamers keep playing the standard game due to wanting more and variety of quests, factions etc…
I don’t get a sense gamers want a GOW game to be some kind of ongoing game whether it’s a MP battler like Ascebsion MP or a persistent world GOW adventure game where it goes on forever with MP modes or SP events, DLC and mtx.

BTW, I'm playing God of War (2018) right now, and weak enemies are killing me even when I have full health because they attack so fast. They just keep spamming attacks, blocking me completely, and I can’t defend myself… frustrating as hell. It looks like a bug.

If that’s her view and is truthful, then devs should smarten up. If all they care is about trying to go big on GAAS than SP, it shows they don’t want try something different like AA budget games or a dirt cheap to make Balatro or quirky Terraria.
That COD and Fortnite are so big that every boss and employee at big and small companies can’t help but dream the dream of like $500M per month sales Fortnite gets (whatever it earns).
And that’s a problem. As I’ve said many times devs have a knack for always trying to max out a budget instead of going in modest. Once they reach stardom it can only get bigger. Just like their games. Even if they don’t have the talent, time ir money, doesn’t matter. The game always has to be flashier and bigger which also means more risky and costly.
Everyone get in the boat folks. Because let’s all risk it and go down with the ship together.
But don’t worry. The Fortnite aircraft carrier is on the horizon. As long as we can achieve 1% of what it can do it’ll be a success. No problem.

Turn the difficulty down, max difficulty or even hard mode are as hard as any fromsoft game.
(I personally love that challenge but many people want a power fantasy from a gow title and not something where you die in 2 hits).
Normal\easy should be ok if you are not super skilled with actions.

There is a raft of ‘creators’ who clearly have a massive sense of entitlement and no market. The industry will course-correct through the purchasing decisions that we actual gamers make.
Alanah’s takes will always be big news and get massive hits because of the obvious. She will always side with the entitled creators because they are her people. I would be amazed if she has had to pay for a game in the last few years or platinumed any for that matter. Who is the fake gamer in that scenario?
Hopefully the outcome will be:
1. An uncharted 5 where we can watch people go up ladders again.
2. A spidey 3 where we play as a badass Peter Parker for the whole game against a smorgasboars of classic villains.
3. A God of War set in Egypt where we play as Kratos the whole way through with some dialogue that sounds like it may could have been spoken by people 4000 years ago.

Controversial thread... and many seem to be quick to dismiss anything labeled GaaS (not without good reason to be fair) and certainly the fact that it was cancelled is probably not a good indicator (but the why does matter), how can anyone really say it would not work?
A melee combat based multiplayer GOW could work, it just depends on how it is done and of course there is never a guarantee for any project to succeed so I do find it strange that gamers love to see projects fail. If it comes out and fails, there is nothing you have lost but if it comes out and succeeds, then you have something new to enjoy that you had no expectation from.
