IGN Editor Ivan says - Not much for 360 this year.

OK, so who really cares? ;)

But, what's most interesting is that he thinks that many of the anticipated titles aren't going to make 2005. Maybe he doesn't know crap, but he does work shoulder to shoulder with the XboxIGN editors...

Any insiders have impressions of games you feel confident will make the launch?

So I read every bit of PS3 and 360 game specific info I didn't already know and I watched every video I hadn't already seen...

As far as I can figure, there are exactly two 360 games I'm looking forward to in 2005 (2005 being the operative year). They are Most Wanted and Call of Duty 2. Every other revealed game is slated for early 2006 or TBA 2006 or just plain TBA. Worse, the games that are coming out in 2005 really don't seem all that impressive / interesting at present (at present being the operative phrase).

Then there's the PS3 and that whole bit of controversy...

I guess it's all E3's fault. Am I the only one who just doesn't care about next-gen anymore because of this blasted E3? After Nintendo's big no show, Microsoft's big lame show, and Sony's big fake show (probably), it just feels like the rest of 2005 is going to be wasted on some vague promise of a better future.

Anyone else?

PGR wasn't at E3, as far as I know.

PDZ was at the show, but was behind closed doors and looked "rather meh" according to some and a little "alright really" according to others.

I've also heard that Oblivion is definitely not 360 in 2005, but then who knows for sure?

even though i know it has next to no chance of happening, i really want oblivion at launch, or at least in time for christmas. come on bethesda

i'm having a hard time thinking of 2005 360 games i want. oblivion will be big if it makes it...at the ms conference, it was mentioned as appearing in the "launch window." is anyone keeping track of this stuff? a list of expected 360 content for this year would be cool.

Microsoft is trying to stack the deck against the inevitable PS3 launch, and they're shoving that coat hanger right into the Xbox2 fetus in the process.

If they're lucky - it will launch with DOA4. :lol

At E3, they made it sound like they are quite far into development.

Bethesda Gamespot Interview said:
GameSpot: Could you give us an update on Oblivion's progress? What's on display at E3?

Todd Howard: We're in the final phases of development. Most of the content is in the game, and we're trying to polish it all up. We'll show off all the major features of the game behind closed doors at E3. It's a hard game to boil down to a short demo, but I think we've got something people will enjoy and hopefully come away with a good idea of what we're tying to accomplish.

Gamespot said:
The game has been in development for about three years (production began right around the time the team was finishing up Morrowind), and it looks extremely impressive so far.

Although, this part is a little disturbing.

Gamespot said:
Well, developer and copublisher Bethesda Software, along with copublisher 2K Games, is showing off the game for the first time, and the Xbox 360 version looks just as good as the PC version, judging from the latest screens.

Yes im sure the console will launch with 2 games. Thats totally believable.

Einstein. He's saying there's only 2 launch games he's interested in, not that there will only be 2 available. :)

What's with all the Ivan attention lately? The guy is annoying, is he just being more annoying than usual?

Oh, and drohne, I read your interview with Eiji Aonuma and thought it was very well-done. Have you posted any impressions of Twilight Princess here on GAF?

Then dont bold shit out of context. How the hell are we supposed to know what games hes looking forward too and what he isnt. Could this info be any more meaningless?

Honestly, I find myself thinking I'll get the PC version of Oblivion over the Xbox 360 one, simply because there isn't much on the system that I'm interested in yet, and I don't want to spend around $300 just for a sequel to a game that I just sorta liked, not loved.

Do bright lights distract you? Did the surrounding words disappear? :D I was emphasizing that he felt many of the games would be 2006. Jeez.

You go Duce... fire up that DC....

Good lord, I never saw so much belly-aching about this crap before. Either you'll buy a new system or you won't, for pete's sake. All this bitching and moaning about not being ready for the next gen....like we all have to take physicals, study flowcharts and pass aptitude tests. The drama queens are killing me.

Boo hoo, another disappointing E3. Just about every year I hear about how E3 sucked, what the hell else is new? I honestly don't get it. Yeah, MS is kicking the thing off a bit early, but shit, I didn't hear this much pissing and crying when 3DO and Jaguar launched in the middle of a generation. They died, but the rest of us survived. It's going to be ok everyone, honest, it is. Take the gun out of your mouth and step away from the ledge.

meh

C'mon. Stop with the OMG!! ATTACK. SONY DEFENSE TEAM! I've seen just a post or two of yours regarding the Sony Press Conference. OMG! Negative comment about the PS3!!!

Grow up.

I specifically and essentially prefaced it with, "This is IVAN folks... You know the guy we make fun of". I'm asking a specific and legitimate question of people that might know something. I'm not saying that Microsoft is in trouble or that this is going to cost them sales or anything of the sort.

Grrr don't be stealin my bandwith, find somewhere else to host the picture if you want to reuse it...

and sonycowboy, I created that picture real quick in photoshop the other day... I thought it would be funny....

sounds to me like he is purely speculating what will be at launch. hes ruled out pgr3 cause it wasnt at e3?

I thought it was stated that BC didn't want to take the time out to make something for E3 because they were mad at MS about that with PGR2

I foresee at the very least the following titles making the 'launch window':

PGR 3
Kameo
Madden
NBA Live
Ghost Recon 3
Call of Duty 2
Dead or Alive 4
Tiger Woods Golf
Tony Hawk
Full Auto
NFS MW

Whoever calls a lineup like that 'not much', considering it's superior to every previous launch lineup, is simply delusional.

All I see there is Full Auto, DoA4, Kameo, and PGR3, which is pretty good, but not better than anything past, future, and present.

So because Tony Hawk doesn't look like its going to make it, the launch is meh. :lol

All they need to do is make sure Madden makes it and everything will be fine.

What is "superior" is clearly based on perspective. The thing that needs to catch me is the one or two "can't live without" launch title.

Let me give you an example. For PSP, I couldn't live without Lumines or, say, Wipeout Pure (insert Ridge Racer or Metal Gear Ac!d at your leisure). For Dreamcast, I couldn't live without Sonic Adventure or whatever. For N64, Waverace/Mario64.

For Xbox360, the games that will be exclusive to the system (based on your list here) is Full Auto, Kameo, Project Gotham Racing 3 and Dead or Alive 4. The rest are EA fluff that'll be on other (admittedly inferior) systems or titles that'll be killin' it up on PC, thus not facilitating the need for a change over as much as say, for instance, a Super Mario World would.

Now you might not be able to live without Dead or Alive 4 (I personally hate this series) and Project Gotham (again, not a fan), but for me it's not the same. There's nothing "superior" about it, yet, except to say it's about on par or a bit equal without a few truly killer exclusive titles.

It's still a decent launch lineup so far, don't get me wrong. But when you seperate out the EA/PC stuff that can be found on other platforms (without the gussied-up visuals), the lineup grows much thinner. That's the important thing for many people, I think. There needs to be a game(s) that says "You can't live without me, or you can't find me on another platform yet (or in the near future)."

But if you add in Perfect Dark Zero and, perhaps, Condemned... the launch lineup starts lookin' mighty nice for me (personally) once more.

No, but it's pretty much the same as the Xbox launch lineup.

PGR 3 - PGR
Kameo - Munch's Odyssey
DoA 4 - DoA 3

Plus Full Auto, which sounds interesting (and hopefully PDZero).

And small and sometimes major steps up of games that already exist on current gen systems aren't too exciting.

AniHawk said:
Did you read what I just posted? I called it "pretty good." I just don't think it's "OMGWTF BEST LAUNCH WINDOW EVAR."

It is the best launch lineup so far. That IS what I said. Could it be bested in the future? Possibly.

The sequel to one of the most well renowned FPS games of all time (Call of Duty 2 by the real Call of Duty developers) instantly puts the XBox 360 launch to the top of the list.

Going on past launches, this one is shaping up to be great. Not the best, but still great.

If PD0 and Oblivion make it, then its going to be fantastic, not the best but fantastic.

Considering how incredible PGR2 was, and that BC has probably been working on PGR3 since they finished PGR2, it's a safe bet it'll be amazing as well.

i think condemed will make it as well.

from the list, i'd get: pgr3, kameo, gr3, CoD2. possibly getting live, madden, full auto and doa4.

thats quite an awesome list IMO. several AAA titles and many more A's.
