IGN plays Sunset Overdrive

Won't be getting as high a metacritic rating as some of the more optimistic predictions. At the same time the game looks to be too fun to be rated any thing close to some of the lower predictions I see some make here. The highly colorful / cheerful atmosphere will be a major plus to some who are getting tired of the dark/ bleak vibe of most of today's AAA games. My metacritic prediction is between 82-85.

Can't be... :(

He's completed it...perhaps over simplifying it? Under-remembering the awesome fun he had while playing those missions...surely?

I hope they didn't rush this. It looks so fun just moving about and shooting things. I got to have some faith.
Sorry dude, I just asked him for some clarification, and asked what % he thought were fetch quests, he said most are, then said there's a few mission where you go some place, and do something for a while, but the rest are, meet someone, get something for them.

He could be, he did seem to enjoy it despite that though, and speaks highly of the humour.

I've got to have faith too, my copy should arrive later this week.

I hope you like Halo because this game looks like shit.

Huh. Well I hope in the future you take the time to elab--

Bayonetta 2 is boring as fuck. Nothing more than a repetitive button masher. The first game sucks too. Nintendo should have greenlit Vanquish 2 instead.

The more I see of this game the less I'm impressed.

I mean, that draw distance quality and pop in was horrible. And the combat just looks so dull, not even remotely the speed I was expecting, it just looks so slow for some reason.

I'm calling mid 70's for meta score, prob a 74.

If that guy thinks this game looks like shit, so be it. Some of you were quick to jump on him for thinking so. Although he's being unnecessarily exaggerated, to say the least.

I am not sure what to make of this game the world looks interesting I like the sunny Miami look the art is cool too

Still the grinding on rails and new mutant zombies is hard to understand the reason to feel excited when the PR and comedy feels so... Forced?

Funny thing is I feel the game would work better with Rabbids I am just waiting for those silly bunnies to pop out of those human costumes lol

Thanks for the comment man. Always great when the junior flood gates open and we get this quality of new comments we just didn't have before.

I think the game looks great but I don't know shit about it aside from some of the play videos on youtube. My kid stumbled across pewdiepie playing it and it looked fun. If it works in a few different weapons and a level system for things it could be a lot of fun to fuck around in. Is there any multiplayer in this thing?

Interesting....
Guy in comments said he got it early and finished it.

Said 13 hours for main campaign, and then tons of side missions, collectibles, time trials ect.

He also said it is his favorite X1 game right now, and he would give it 9/10.

Here are some map pictures he posted...

Blue Icons are side missions, green Icons are time trials.
Not sure what the rest are.

EDIT: Hope this game reviews decent as I have it pre-ordered...
I think it will probably get around 83 metacritic.....But I will give it a chance either way.

Yes, in the link above I posted it shows it. If you don't have time to watch the entire thing, skip to the 30 min mark where it shows the chaos squad (the games multiplayer) finale.

lol wow. Care to share why you think that is?

Sure.

Traversal looks too slow (which I understand is because you need to shoot thing but it's just looks it would get very tedious after a while) and the shooting looks very unsatisfying and easy.

Gameplay seems incredibly repetitive, "go here push this button" or "go collect thing and
bring back to me".

Humor is trying way too hard to be edgy and hip.

Story doesn't look interesting or even fun just like as I said before it's just trying too hard.

I like the art direction and the intention of not taking itself seriously unlike most games that get released these days, but it just seems like a game that's better on paper than in execution.

I have the game preloaded and ready but from the videogamer.com preview and the early review the game seems to be lacking its supposed strongpoint a bit: fun. I believe that I will have a shitload of fun with the game as I also love all the infamous games and the preview said its as boring and dull as infamous.
My taste isnt everyones taste though and I think a lot of people will be disappointed with the game. Not that it matters to me, but I expect very mixed reviews and a metascore similar to infamous second son (high 70s). Lets hope this moves some xbones which would be good for the market

Wait, you're taking the humor seriously? You do realize it's exaggerated humor, dude bro/punk vibe, and all that is on purpose right?

Like you don't have to actually have to find it funny, but it's satire. It's supposed to be like that. They didn't make the game thinking that being "edgy and hip" is what all the kids like these days.

*edit, never mind. R.I.P. Sunny whatever.

*tear*

maybe the critics will change your mind tonight!

I wish you were speaking more for the game at press junkets and the humor was less 4th wall breaking. I love the art style, the customization, and the overall gameplay seems fun. I'm not big on Dead Rising's mission style but I could change my mind if the story is intriguing enough. I do hope the reviews change my mind.

Also, have you grabbed any cool prints lately? :)

When you start out grinding it is slow, but you can get boost which makes it go much faster.

Can't speak for the story as I haven't played it yet, just watched a bunch of videos, but the characters seem to be really good.

Enemies and weapons also seem fun to too.

The only fear I have is with mission design possibly getting repetitive as you mentioned.

I understand intent, but it seems they are pushing it too hard and just trying to force it a bit much. It's almost too self-aware of itself, and it goes overboard with it.

Like when I saw the stream of the first encounter of the spawner with the computer voice lady, it was clever at first but the humor of her pointing out tropes got old extremely fast.

But who knows, just noticing what I've seen so far.
