I'm out of the loop. Is Nintendo doing something too?

They mentioned a June Direct exists that will NOT mention the Switch 2, and instead focus on Switch games for the rest of 2024. That's all we got.

Typically they do have their directs around the 12th though. Usually Tuesday morning.

Yes and they are probably about to win "not e3" with a 7 year old device in its twilight year. Nintendo announced a June Direct but has yet to say the specific date and time. Rumor is this week.

A Nintendo Direct has been officially announced for this month, but we don't know the exact date yet.

I don't think we have anywhere near enough information to say they will probably win.

I feel like that was more a dig at Sony and MS than giving Nintendo kudos 😂

I would say that's a bigger gamble than you're claiming. Nintendo systems in their twilight years are known for having a massive drop in notable new games, so it's presumptuous to think that the Switch will likely not fall victim to that as well. And honestly, it would be foolish to release anything too big for Switch 1 at this point if it could be part of the Switch 2's early lineup instead.

Scary to think Nintendo could win "not-E3" with twilight year/swansong games akin to Mario Wonder and TTYD

Watch how the new console will be weird in some way. I wish they kept the 3D from the 3DS.
2DS agrees. You almost wonder if they learned something between 3DS and Wii U that they need to calm TF down sometimes. We will see soon.

Edit: It was great that Switch had a few bells, whistles and innovations but was ultimately a slab that played games -in addition to optional experimental stuff like Labo and fitness ring.

It seems like the haptic feedback did not really catch on with the Joycons. That was a shame. They really needed to play that up.

I stand corrected. I think Xbox just won. That was incredible to the point where I'm looking at purchasing an xbox console after a decade.

They confirmed that this month was going to have a Direct.

But Nintendo is very picky when it comes to announcing dates, these last years they release it on the later half of the month, 20-25

Also while i expect to see nice surprises, it won't be as much of a deal until the second half September/'TGS' presentation when they finally unveil their next generation console, they will show the heavy hitters there.

So i don't expect this year to be big in terms of actual releases, but the news will be enough to get us talking

I don't think there's any way the Direct can beat this Xbox event. Nintendo's event will be very focused on 2024.

What games do they have in the pipe? Metroid Prime 4 and the next Mario will likely be announced as Switch 2 launch titles later this year when they talk about it. I can't believe I am saying this, but Microsoft put up a tough act for the original Switch to follow today.

Agreed, though I do think there's a chance we see Metroid Prime 4.
