1. Only about 3 hours in but the game is great. I did my first sidequest in a game in probably a decade. Huge Indy fan, so that helps.

2. Someone on the Steam forums suggested they do Blade Runner next in this style. Can you imagine?

Almost purchased this game now but saw it had a fu***** pre-order bonus with costume and last crusade goodies that are now unavailable.

Fuck it, Fuck these pre-order items really.

They say it can boost pre-order, yeah okay sure, but what about frustrated people who end up not buying your crap because of that damn FOMO ?
Why can't they just add these items as separate DLC at the very least ?

Wanted to support the dev, now gonna wait for -50% minimum.

Sweet irony : People pirating the game now get access to more content than legit. Way to go devs.

Yes it's just a damn costume, but no, i will never accept these practices. FOMO on Single Player games is cancer.

You're getting quite worked up over a measily skin that only you will ever see. Nice one.

You're literally not missing out on anything.

Nope, it's Temple of Doom on Ultimate. Last Crusade seem to be exclusive DLC shit.

Yes i'm mad, pardon me but i find these exclusive content extremely frustrating.
All newly released AAA games seem to push these kind of timed DLC now.

I'm an in-game item collector.
I pretty much play all my games to 100% completion.
I hate missing on stuff and i know i'm not the only one...
All recently released games pushed these : GoW Ragnarok, Stalker 2, Final Fantasy XVI etc... they are everywhere now.
It seems now if you don't pre-order games you always miss stuff.

Just imagine removing 5 minutes of your favourite movie and push these as exclusive for people pre-ordering the movie blu-ray, that could be something heh !

Yeah, just the Vatican area has taken me 6, 7 hours and I'm not even done with it. If there's other zones like this, this is gonna be a pretty meaty experience.

You didn't even need to pre order the game to get the suit and lion tamer whip, just pre installing the 300 MB file via gamepass was enough to include the bonuses.

My comiserations but you're not missing out on anything. Your game is the same as anyone else's and your 100% rate will be the same as well. Someone else just did it in a different colour character. Big deal.

There's being 'an in-game collector' or just autistic to the nth degree.

Reading your last sentence, it think it's better to stop that discussion.

Got to play for a full 4 hours today! The Vatican area I'm running around in is huge. I heard it was huge but it really is huge. I'm lost.
I alerady love the music and sounds. The smack of the fists and the music cues are just pure nostalgia for me. I really like it.
Game is playing fast and smooth on my RTX 4070 I've got it set to Ultra as far as my 12GB of Vram will allow. Pathtracing is out however. I have to use 1080P with DLSS performance AND frame gen to get it playable. So my rtx 4070 cries uncle. Maybe when I get that 5090 in a few months.

I do have one buggy issue. Sometimes I call up the map and it will not go away, even if the enemies are hitting me. Am I doing something wrong with the button pressing or is it a bug?

Ok i just played 4 hours, because i couldnt stop. Still in the first zone, basically did nothing main story wise. Im loving everything about this. Level design is fucking ace, the exploration, mini puzzles. Im digging the combat too. You can be a badass if you know how to use the system and not just trying to spam punches. What a good ass game to close this year

I’m enjoying this but it’s so janky at times? Like the transition from game to cutscene and vice versa and so on are not seamless at all.

Just something tiny but it’s bothering me so far.

Surround sound doesn’t seem to work on PC.

Working for me without any issues.

Make sure you're not trying to force Dolby atmos and you have the correct audio output setting enabled for the number of speakers you have.

I'm on nvidia drivers 566.14 and using whatever audio driver is packaged with that if that helps.

Tbh it’s a bit boring so far. The opening was pretty good. The Vatican so far has been pretty bad. Walk around.. beat up really dumb enemy.. find key.. open door.

Maybe I should turn the difficulty up… because it seems the stealth so far is pointless. Can easily beat everyone’s ass.

It is a little janky - how you jump into water and come out of it is janky or perhaps that was only in that one area (posted a video of this earlier in the thread).

Why is it I'm walking around fascists all over the Vatican and they are greeting me one minute and the next they are chasing after me?

Does the game warn you if you’re going to leave an area and haven’t gotten all the collectibles? I’m only in the first area, the university. I worry if I fill the suitcase up I’ll leave with 6/10 exploration items.

The suitcase has a set number of things you have to pack before you can progress. In the next area, it will warn you before you get to a point of no return.

This has been the most confusing thing for me. I walked through an area where it seemed I should be fine and a group of them swarmed me and kicked my ass. I reloaded, walked through the same area, and was completely fine.

Captains can see through disguises, and you probably have enemy awareness indicator turned off, so you can't tell if they spot you or not.

It really helps that quite a few sidequests have their own dedicated slice of game which you can't access otherwise. It makes you want to do everything so you don't miss anything.

so the "full raytracing" option doesn't even show up if you are below the requirements listed in the spec sheet?

that's kinda sad tbh, I really wanted to try running it on my 3060ti. I wanted to have everything off except reflections, and those set to medium... that should totally be doable on a 3060ti.

It does for my 4080 laptop with 12 GB. That may be the cutoff point though.

There are officers that can see through your disguise. They usually have hats on and are inspecting things or formations.

And if you use the whip or take items that can trigger a response.

Some areas are off limits to a particular disguise or to you always, there is a little red eye thing by your health bar to show you are in a restricted area.

It's so rare to see a AAA game of this kind of budget that doesn't neatly fit into an existing genre, let alone one from an established IP. It dawned on me when I was describing it to a friend and it took some effort.

How open are the areas and how interesting are the puzzles?

Like, do you collect an item from one end of the map and have to use it somewhere else on the map and it’s up to you to figure out how and where to use it? Or is it more straightforward than that?

can you look into your TheGreatCircleConfig.local file and copy all your settings?
maybe if I add the command to enable path tracing into my settings file it will work? could be a workaround until mods do it (which they probably will soon)

it's located in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\MachineGames\TheGreatCircle\base\ if you play the Xbox app version,
and in (your SteamLibrary folder)/steamapps/compatdata/2677660/pfx/ if you are on Steam.

if opened with a text editor it should look something like this:

No, nothing like that. Quest objectives will have you go from place to place, but there's also fast travel points. The first hub map for Vatican City is not a *huge* place, but it has a lot of verticality and buildings have multiple levels, underground areas etc.

It's kind of like a Deus Ex Human Revolution zone in terms of scope, if that makes sense. Lots of hidden nooks and crannies, ability to unlock shortcuts from place to place etc.

there are some easier and some harder puzzles. usually the optional ones needs some actual brainpower, and the main story ones are a bit easier but thankfully they do not get spoiled for you if you set the puzzle difficulty to normal instead of easy.

there's one in the first area, the Vatican (in the underground catacombs to be precise) that I didn't figure out for example. and one where it took me a few minutes. neither of these things typically happen to me in modern AAA games... so I'd say that's a win lol.

I think those are it! specular is reflections, sun tracing is RT sun shadows, and diffuse is AO/GI I guess.

I'll try adding the specular tracing to my settings file and see if it works

The Vatican is pretty overwhelming, the amount of areas, the amount of side stuff, and the amount of traversal ways to get to places. Took me a lot of hours and head scrathing to do it all, or most of it anyway. I was constantly getting side tracked with new stuiff.

sadly neither adding these to my settings file nor entering rt_enableSpecularTracing "1" into the in-game console seem to do anything.
seems like the devs really just lock it out completely if the game detects you're running an 8GB card.

I hope someone makes a mod to get around this, because there is no way enabling RT reflections on medium should not work on 8GB

thanks for posting the settings tho :messenger_heart:

Best game I have played so far this year and I hear it gets even better after Vatican. The exploration and rewards for it is stellar imo. One of the best map design I've seen in recent years for the genre.

Well, It seems Philbo doesnt want me to play this game. Unable to turn on PT and unable to get rid of the stick drift on my dualsense.

My guess is that it's tied to the DS4Windows app but even if i launch using steam, i just cant get it to recognize my Dualsense without it.

Really hate how MS continues to do this with all of their xbox exclusives but only on the Xbox App. On steam, this game supports the dualsense with official button prompts, but they go out of their way to disallow support on the xbox app.

What a waste. Some other folks on reddit seem to be having the same issue but since its so rare i doubt they ever fix it. What a waste of a gamepass sub this turned out to be. I guess i will try the Forza RTGI update but i remember having issues with that game too. Fuck this app.

I can easily see Indy being in my top three this year. Right now it is Metaphor followed closely by Astro Bot. Highs are the top notch production values with genuine Indiana Jones vibes and really solid missions, both main and side. Puzzles are well thought out. Lows are pretty much just the combat which isn't great, but I'm going stealth as much as possible either way. Overall, great game and fantastic presentation even without PT.
