Questioning the legitimacy of online chatter that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a GOTY game

But Mr. Moose is doing exactly the same. He is talking as only xbox fans do this and that's just bullshit, even talked about the Horizon games, when the 1st came out was like the 2nd coming for many people. We can even go futher back with games like Infamous or Killzone 3 when they came out. Xbox fans do the same obviously, there's no way someone is being impartial when calling Redfall a goty.

Fair points. One group shouldn't be singled out here. All platforms have fans that raise up first party games like they are the greatest thing ever.

I enjoyed the story. The AI is immersion breaking at times and that takes me out of the game. It's not game of the year material but for Xbox people wanting Microsoft to show they can make high quality AAA games, this is as close as they got last year. It's the true definition of a 7/10 game. I did enjoy it whilst playing but once looking back on it, it wasn't quite as good as I originally thought.

They were all green rats. Every game from MS is GOTY, some said the same about Redfall.
Fuck that bullshit. I liked the game and am not a console warrior idiot. Also it reviewed well. Its not a fucking conspiracy. Sometimes you just have shitty taste and others disagree with you. No need to think they are losers. It is really pathetic.

I finished it for the story and graphics, plus I only had a month to get it done.
But yea, the gameplay is mediocre imo. I'm not into first person view much, especially first person melee combat.
I was basically doing the bare minimum to get through the game, and I'm never like that with games.

Definitely not a GOTY contender. The cinematics are incredible, the detail in the world (all of the little objects they packed in to make it feel lived in) is some of the best I have seen…

The gameplay however is incredibly shallow. Lots of fetching things, weak puzzles, weak combat, weak AI…

This first game in the series was solid but they have a ways yet to go.

I can't buy the 'first person takes me out of the immersion' point folks are making.

The whole point of the first person perspective is to immerse you in the game AS Indiana Jones himself - seeing through his eyes.

I don't see how you can forget you are ever playing him. It's an Indiana Jones game, there are many lengthy cutscenes featuring him, you speak as him…

I never felt there was anything immersive about playing this game in first person. If first person is so immersive then why were the cutscenes not in first person as well? Doesn't erally matter. Ultimately this is all just personal preference though.

I think it was a great choice, but if it is alienating players then maybe it should have been an option 🤷‍♂️

Making it optional would have been best.

Why contribute to this thread at all? If going to label everyone with legitimate points about the gameplay 'bootlickers'.

Seems these kind of shit posts are the only contributions you actually make around here.
Of all the posts about this game, hell, just in this thread...

...mine is the one you most take umbrage with? Mine is the post that makes you go off and play detective? You've gone though my post history, you should have seen all the posts I've made about this game and to why I like it. But you didn't quote any of them. Weird.

I'm guessing the cutscenes switch to third person for that cinematic look? Obviously the stylistic choice chosen by the devs (and I suppose in keeping with all their previous games).

I didn't find it jarring, and to be honest, it's one of the few games I can remember where I actually watched all the cut scenes from beginning to end without feeling the urge to skip. That's a great job right there, because I'm not the most patient of guys 🙂

(Edit - and I'm sorry you didn't find the first person immersive! I love it, but I'm definitely a lover of FPS games).

Man, you're not doing great I must say...

I spent less than a minute tbh and it seemed pretty clear that the majority of your posts are in the same vein as the above. Hence why I pointed them out.

Maybe you did have some proper thoughts in there about the game but have been buried within bootlicker after bootlicker posts.

I didn't find anything jarring about switching from first to third. I thought that worked fine.

Yeah....I glanced through his post history since it was brought up and all the "bootlicker" references were just weird.

(Image stolen from another thread, I don't have Riky on ignore)
We need Riky back. He/she/xe also claimed the Series S would outperform the PS5.

Sony fanboys not enjoying an xbox game, shocking.
So we are all just hate buying Indy (and Forza Horizon 5)?

There is a tendency to label every exclusive GOTY on these boards. This happens with every game including Nintendo games so i dont pay too much attention to it.

The game is simply boring and it should be an insult to all indy fans to make a boring indy game. The developers shouldve been blasted for making a first person immersive sim instead of an action adventure game. The whole thing is wrong and everyone responsible for this is literally retarded. Imagine if Insomniac took the spiderman license and made it a first person immersive sim. People would laugh and mock them until the publisher cancelled the game which is what shouldve happened here.

Arkhane is making Blade. Watch them turn it into a first person immersive sim too.
It literally is an action adventure game what crack are you smoking dude lmao

Hmm.. game sure plays like the movies to me. Your not going to go balls deep into every possible encounter and come out unscathed. This isn't Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls. I thought game captured the essence of the movies pretty much spot on with gameplay and story. I hope there is another. The first person perspective most of the time was a good choice.

This ain't it friend.

It's just about expectations - when everything is hyped to hell and back, there are some expectations that have to be met.
Besides, not everyone can like the same things, would you agree with that ?

Example : i love souls-likes but I HATED Elden Ring (a multiplatform game eh?), everytime is expressed my opinion I was met with a barrage of laughing emojis 😁.
Same thing about Nioh and Khazan which I'm now playing, heck, I have a PS5 Pro and let's just say that...I'm not completely satisfied with it so far, well, you can guess how it went whenever I expressed said opinion in the dedicated thread 😉

Again, opinions are opinions, no need to have constantly a chip on your shoulder.

"The things I did and said don't matter 'cause there are other people doing the same"

"The things I said don't matter" as you put it, because worse has been said in this thread and you haven't complained about it. It's not that hard to understand. Just try a little bit.

The Game is fine but not for GOTY , Wukong is miles away by example.

It's they most decent work from Bethesda but lacks of original action , I mean there is nothing in they Game that lets You Say " I have not seen this on another game"...

Do you seriously think enjoying a game and not thinking it's game of the year is the same as starting a thread saying anyone who likes this game is wrong?

The thread is questioning the game's status as GOTY contender as some claim it is. I don't see anywhere where DryvBy DryvBy says anyone who likes the game is wrong.

Nope, one of my GOTY candidates last year too. Might not win it, I think other games like Astro BOT did win it rightfully so, but it is in that tier for me and that is all it matters I think.

This is the Indiana Jones movie we never got and I had a blast throughout. It felt like being Indiana Jones in the movies. Was it 110% perfect, not it had niggling issues here and there even visually, but the whole for me was greater than the sum of its parts (played it through completion on XSX).

I'm mostly focused on the GOTY comments because I played a ton of better games last year even if they didn't look as pretty.

And that's fine. It wasn't GoTY for you, but it could/would have been for other folks.

Despite being a late release, it still got the GoTY award from 12 outlets as well, and shockingly enough, none with "xbox" in their name.

It's probably gonna win a bunch this year too owing to many outlets not even factoring it cause of December and the added spotlight from the PS5 release.

You saying that you don't agree with the reviews etc is perfectly fine, but comments like "did you guys play anything else in the year at all ?" seems a bit pointlessly condescending.

The "they were all green rats" part is a joke, the second part of my comment is legit though.

Yep. They are so best that every single immersive sim game from Prey to Dishonored, Deathloop, and now Indiana Jones has flopped. The studios either shutdown or will be shutdown after one bomb. Not to mention the fact that they dont ever win GOTYs. Bioshock 1 was literally the only GOTY contender immersive sim and it came out nearly 20 years ago.

They are as niche as they come. They have a dedicated fanbase who clearly enjoy these games but these games barely even sell a million copies nowadays. Something like Indy should be an action adventure game with some immersive sim elements, not the other way around.

The games that sell the most every year are focus tested, mass market slop with very few exceptions. I have no plans to play Indiana Jones because I don't care for the IP but I'll give them points for not making an Uncharted clone, those set piece cinematic experience games are aggressively boring. Also why would I care what sells most and wins GOTY for my own personal tastes? Id rather play Deus Ex HR again over every Uncharted or Nu Tomb Raider easily.

100% this. It was absolutely unfinished, with so many immersion-breaking bugs and glitches and general weirdness. Many of the puzzles just are not interesting in the slightest. The ending is idiotic, and it disappeared from memory. Also, when will developers learn that slow-moving boats are just a SLOG, and NOT fun.

GotY Contenders so far for me? Easy. Blue Prince (one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played - with my missus), and Expedition 33 (which still has some jank, but it's all part of its AA charm).

*Me as a 28 year old, actively enjoying the game, despite having not watched a single Indiana Jones film.*

Interesting notion, friend.
That's like saying you've never watched Back to the Future. :messenger_fearful:
(The first 3 movies are good, skip the other 2 if you decide to watch them. I fell asleep during the last one).

Apology accepted mate.

You've been caught with your pants down, you're not taking any responsibility for your inflammatory comments/post history but somehow, you're doubling down on the stupidity, this is why people have a problem with the likes of you.

Take the L, stop replying 'cause you're not exactly doing yourself any favours here and everything will be good.

It was decent. I enjoyed it. The glazing was excessive. I've moved on but will play the DLC.
(But then I felt the same way about Sony's cinematic games like God of War, and Horizon and not many ruled them out of GOTY conversations.)

Your post history is nothing but shitting on Xbox. Wall to wall trolling in umpteen threads. How are you any different to me? Other than your perceived morale high ground and sense of humour.

Honestly, Indy the most WOW IT'S THE SHIT to WOW IT'S KINDA SHIT game of the last year for me. I liked it, quite a lot actually, but I can hardly recommend it to someone. It was even stranger to see it in GOTY lists, in all honesty.

And BTW I'm pro-Indy biased, I've bought the game for the second time on PS5 today.
