I keep saying that this game is my reason for buying a PS4, even if I freaking hated the first two.

Is incredible to me how they made this one so beautifull when the previous ones IMO were so ugly.

Yeah, I'm surprised about that. I chalk it to PS3 memory holding them back.

This looks amazing, but Deslin looks odd here. In the first part (from "behind" the sensor he's pushing) he looks like himself . . . then they cut to the part were he fails the check and the light shines on his face and he looks all frumpy and with a double chin and filled out face. It's like they had a substitute facial model for that shot.

Delsin is one handsome looking dude.

I could see this game attracting some attention from the ladies :D

Well, his face is largely modeled after the Big Baker himself.

It's just an odd angle/lighting situation.

Looking good that's for sure and out of the launch window games the one I'm most looking forward too. I liked both Infamous 1 and 2 despite the flaws they had, but hope SP has made some progress towards correcting those.

The graphics at the very least look fantastic. Just have to hope that the story and gameplay hold up.

I loved that moment in the trailer where he fails the check. The reaction is perfect and I actually found his line about two out of three a bit funny.

Facial animations look incredible, can't wait to see what these guys are able to do in a few years.

It seems like Delsin actually has a personality too which is cool. He doesn't seem as generic as a lot of main characters.

Hype increased. It would be cool if they had a mega man type system in Second Son: Defeat another super-powered person, gain their unique ability.

Most people look like that when their picture is taken from below their face, unforch.

And I hope 'Fetch' is not his love interest. Sharp knees and all that. Stop trying to make Fetch happen!

Everything is looking amazing but the explosions. The slow mo helps, but they're lacking compared to the rest of the visual package.

Explosion effects were really weak in inFamous 1 and 2 as well, so perhaps Sucker Punch just doesn't excel in that area.

Wow as in wow that was a pretty pretentious thing to say in the context of the rest of your post.

So just trash the game because you don't like the story? I'm as pro-narrative as anyone but that strikes me as an incredibly closed-minded viewpoint. Different games have different "needs" and few would argue that a strong narrative is a more pressing need for a superhero action game than the superhero action itself, which Infamous excelled at.

It's not pretentious, it's a call for attention so that developers take story/characters/writing seriously.

I didn't say the game's mechanics were bad, just that in the context of super hero mythology characters and writing matter just as much. It's the reason why Infamous as a franchise hasn't really kicked off in any significant way when compared to other much bigger franchises. It's the reason why Batman Arkham Asylum hit it big, and then Arkham City sold even more. It wasn't just about Batman going around kicking shit, the devs actually actively try to tell fun and compelling Batman stories and spend effort writing the characters so that they feel as much alive as they do in comics and movies.

Prototype also excelled at super hero action, but failed to create that mythology. The sequel sold about as much as Infamous 2 (but on two platforms) and was considered a failure. Honestly, I was surprised to see Infamous 2nd Son even existing after Infamous 2 was such a non event in the end.

The level of excitement you are seeing for 2nd son is down to the combination of gameplay and characters that are seemingly being pulled so well. You have a bunch of people who weren't interested in Infamous and now are, and it's because of the character and personality the others didn't have. It's just as important as being able to replicate super hero action with mechanics....

This is true...I like different protagonists...and a guy who is kind of assholey seems imo to work perfectly for an open world game

This looks marvelous... what amazes me the most is the fact that SP had never been known for their technical chops before... and now many view ISS as the best looking next gen game so far... kudos to them.

Looks so good, and the facial expressions are so genuine. I'm sure they are using a cool face-capture tech, but this gen had some games that did that and didn't look this good.

Fantastic trailer, everything about it looks great. This will be the third inFamous platinum for me for sure, and I don't 100% many games at all.

The particle effects from the neon sign... drool.

Keep in mind most exclusives aren't held to that exact same standard especially from first party studios. The fact that it did sell more as a console exclusive is pretty telling. Also I think they got more out of Infamous 2 bank-wise from Festival of Blood, which holds the title for "fastest selling PSN game in history".

Uh... Sony acquired Sucker Punch for a reason, that reason being the more than stellar sales all the inFamous games (afaik aren't both inFamous games million sellers and Festival of Blood is one of the best selling PSN/Console DD games ever) were more than good enough considering the fact that Super Punch isn't a big studio at all (or at least wasn't previously, they've probably grown a bit considering how much of a jump in quality this is from every POV).

Light as a power has some really interesting potential for gameplay. I can't even really imagine what you'd do with it, other than stunning enemies like a human flashbang.

human flashlight for dark areas
your flashbang idea
lasers
holograms/illusions
stealth (darken areas)
magnification (scope)
scouting (bending light to see around corners or distant enemies)
Finding hidden areas or clues (blue light)

Infamous 1 and 2 never had this kind of quality and detail, not even close.

I guess all Sucker Punch need is a much powerful hardware to utilize their full potential.
