Between this and Sunset Overdrive it looks like I'll have my hands full. Both look like the kind of games you can spend hours and hours in. Xbox Fall lineup is looking like it's really shaping up to be good.
 
That second video has some great footage in it! Nice to finally see some new stuff. This game is going to rock.

Will the smashable signs make a comeback? Free roaming and hunting them was so much fun in horizon 1. Was kinda like hunting for orbs in crackdown.

I really, REALLY want the signs to be for the repair/upgrade guy's competitor, instead of his own signs. I loved them in gameplay terms, but I just felt bad destroying his advertising and being rewarded for it.

Helios? Wouldn't that make more sense?
 
The biggest thing for me is definitely going to be the music. The fact we no longer have custom soundtracks on Xbox One meant Forza 5 was a nightmare with its terrible music.

While I agree we need custom tracks back, why would anyone play music while racing in Forza 5???!

Those engine/atmospheric sounds blasting through a surround sound system with no music is the only way to play. ;)

Some cars give me chills with that rumble/roar.

To be fair i can't argue with that. My neighbors probably hate me it for it too.
 
Not being able to drive past the barriers in the first game was one of my only gripes with the game, now that it's solved - it's time to buy an xbone :D
 
i wonder just how big the game is compared to the first. they keep saying "3x the drivable area" but in the same sentence mention the ability to drive freely without barriers... is the game's world roughly the size of horizon 1's but since its truly open there is much more to drive on?

so glad i picked up the thrustmaster. fh1 was LOADS better with a wheel.

The FFB was amazing when you went off road.
 
Looks incredibly fun, but I'm still not blown away by those visuals like I was for Horizon 1 at the time.

I was expecting more of a leap to be honest.

the transitions! seriously though, i always had a hard time on the different surface types and especially with weaving through traffic at high speeds with the pad. once i started using my wheel though, it was night and day. biggest difference i've experienced with car control, more so then mainline forza surprisingly.
 
When will we see more of this? It's out 2 months from now. I feel like we've just been shown the same parts over and over until this video, which was off-screen gameplay that I assume wasn't meant to be seen (since behind closed doors).

From the press demonstrations, they said three times the size of the original game, in terms of driveable area (my guess is a little less than double the road-size), but these aren't discrete tracks.

At what point do we start passive-aggressively posting gifs in response to perceived criticism to try to distract us from our excitement? Because that's a thing I feel like I'd enjoy.
 
Why do game developers do this, release the games I want AFTER summer?

tell me about it, since titanfall came out it's been a slow slow release for games I want on the xbox one, and suddenly destiny and horizon come out within a week of each other among the wave of games this winter, it's annoying.
 
Racing against balloons, planes, etc was easily the worst part of Horizon 1. Hated them. Absolutely hated them. They weren't fun, they were just exercises in how much the developers can frustrate a player.

I loved them. Instead of race to point whatever in a few minutes, it was race a fucking plane that will buzz you a few times. Something different and fit the theme.
 
The date it was unveiled has nothing to do with how long it's been in development. I don't see anything wrong with expecting a bit more official media for a game releasing in two month's time.
More media's obviously coming, they just want to space it out accordingly. Seems fine to me.

makes sense in a way...
through the eyes of a sim fan, you can get unlimited hours of enjoyment perfecting a raceline, a laptime.
you can race against a balloon with the lack of the above precision only so many times.

good thing is they are saying they are using the full f5 physics system.
I guess I will have to try it for myself to have an opinion on how it will play.
but there is potential there for it to be really great even for ...snooty fucks :)
 
I've seen reviews of the Thrustmaster TX Ferrari 458 Italia wheel and it's been extremely positive (ISR has a review up as well as The Sim Pit I believe). Compatible with Xbox One and PC.

The biggest complaint with the set are the pedals as it lacks a clutch pedal.

It's $335 on Amazon which is a bit too much for me personally. Hopefully between now and the fall they will go a bit cheaper, or more options get announced. I've been itching to get a good wheel myself.

WTF? 335 and no clutch or H-Shifter.
 
It's so funny that this game combines so many elements from some of my most beloved franchises of all time:

- Driving skill system
like Kudos in Project Gotham Racing

- Weather, awesome rain
- like in Project Gotham Racing

- Totally open-world and free roam
like in Midtown Madness and Test Drive Unlimited

- Huge world, huge foreseight, jumping possibilities
like Motorcross Madness

- Signs, collectables and those car wooden huts (reasons to actually discover the world)
like in Crackdown

- Arcade driving mechanisms (yet not totally crazy)
like in RalliSport Challenge

No. From what I can recall, they really enjoyed the first game, but they get a lot of complaints from some people whenever they cover games that are more on the arcade side (hell, some are even against anything that's not a PC sim).

But I'm getting so sick of seeing that Lambo driving through vineyards. Show us something new! I want to see different parts of the map.

Yeah, show us an Audi R8 driving through those vineyards. I know it's basically the same car, but damnit, it's a sexier, curvier version and I like it.

Yea, I really don't understand the complaints about them. They were basically just a time trial with a more graphical representation of how you were currently doing. Maybe people just found them disproportionately difficult compared to the standard races?

I think they're probably referring to the general area of the map, rather than considering how much of it is roads vs offroad. So the area could be three times as large as Horizon 1, even if there were only a single track going around the outline of it.
